Sugar addict and Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG) surgery?
mimisturn replied to Quest4TheNewMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's been 3 1/2 weeks since surgery and I was a sugar addict for sure. Sweets don't sound good to me at all! I hope it stays that way! My friend got the bypass and can eat sweets without dumping, so no guarantee you will get the dumping! Just the thought of my intestines getting rerouted scared me! I am loving my sleeve! Never hungry, when I eat I get full after 5 bites and loved that I have dropped 25 lbs already! Best decision ever!!! -
gas pains...how long for you?
mimisturn replied to kasumi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me it was horrible! Could not take a deep breath and the left shoulder pain was really bad. It took about 2 weeks for the gas to leave my body! Hang in there, it's just a matter of time! -
Was your gallbladder surgery as bad as the VGS?

Good job! I will be 3 weeks post op on Tuesday! Yay I get to start purée phase! Not had a bite of food in 20 days! What's strange is when I'm around food that smells good, ya I think yum! But my stomach says no way! I am not hungry so it's been easy as far as that goes. I'm just tired of shakes, broth & yogurt! It will be so nice to put something new in my mouth! I hope I will be able to tell when I'm full because I kind of feel full all the time! I want to make sure I'm eating enough, but at the same time I don't want to over eat! Any suggestions??? -
Two weeks today post op! Feeling so much better! Liquids for another week. Just wondering for the future, if I was a sweet craver before surgery, will that change? I hope so because I ate way too much sugar and that was a lot of my problem! So far sweets don't sound appealing at all!

My stomach is so purple from bruising. I had to have a blood transfusion on day 3 in the hospital. I'm asking my surgeon today at my 2 week follow up appt. What happened! Has anyone else experienced this?
-
@mamabrock- I totally agree with you! I am 2 weeks post tomorrow and just know everyday gets better. I felt really bad the first week and today I'm at Disneyland. Still a little sore and tired, but I had to get out and walk. I sit awhile, drink water, walk a little rest again. It hasn't been enjoyable, but I have lost 16 lbs so I just know it's all going to be worth it!

@@Robert Christopher's - Your lucky, I have to be on liquids for 3 weeks, then puréed mushy food for another 3 weeks! -
@@A. Stoot Question, My tummy area where the port from the LB was removed is really sore. Did that area on the inside take longer to heal?

That sucks to have to have 2 surgeries! They should be able to do it all at once! -
Sorry @@A. Stoot
-
@A. Shoot, what do you mean good to your tummy?
-
That's so great to hear! I am 9 days post still going through the healing process, but I can already tell I'm going to love the sleeve. I felt like you with the band, food getting stuck, throwing up, being hungry but can't really get the food down so ice cream and slider foods were easy access. This seems so natural you eat and get full then stop eating! The hardest part is having to have liquids for 3 weeks, then mushy foods for 3 weeks. But I know it will be all worth it!????
