I am a 41 year old female who has struggled with weight since the age of 8. If I lost weight on my own I would always gain it back. I reached my highest weight of 316 in June 2014. This is the most I weighed even when I was pregnant with my 3 children. I found Bariatric Pal while I was researching the surgery online. The posts and info helped me to make my decision to have gastric sleeve bypass in October. The wake up call for me was when I was unable to fit on rides with my family and the embarrassment of having to get off was unbearable. In addition to that I am taking meds for high blood pressure and my cholesterol was high and reaching the point of needing meds for that. I wanted to get healthy for myself and my children. I was tired of missing out on doing activities with them because of my weight. I lost over 30 pounds pre-op and came out of surgery weighing more than when I went in for surgery (fluid retention). I am 3 1/2 weeks post surgery and my total weight loss since June is 49 pounds. My cholesterol now is in the normal range and I am off one of my blood pressure meds. What is the hardest for me post surgery is not being able to eat what my family is eating and I feel left out. I am hoping this will pass as time goes on and I will be a healthier wife and mother to my family.
