Hi friends, Just wanted to share that I'm so excited. After 3 years of the stages of grief over paying for VSG, to the point of getting ready to cash out my 401k to pursue surgery, I finally became employed at a company that has insurance that covers bariatric surgery. My insurance coverage was immediate, so I wasted no time getting my initial consult done. I'm doing my surgery with Dr. Spann at Vanderbilt Center for Surgical Weight Loss. Per my insurance, I need to complete 6 months of a doctor-supervised weight management program, so I'm going to do it with Vanderbilt...it'll be with the nutritionists and specialists I'll be seeing for the duration of my life, so why not, right? I just needed to share this win. I cannot wait for the next six months, and ultimately SURGERY! Sending love to you all!

I've known for years I've needed to do something about my weight, but earlier this year was another beginning for me. I've never been this big, so I made sure to capture as much as I could. -

I wanted to be sure to capture myself in this particular t-shirt. It's a 2xl and not very stretchy, so I want to see my progress in this shirt. -
Hey everyone! I've been lurking for a little while, and I need to vent. I had come to the conclusion that I was going to pursue VSG surgery about a month ago, and I was under the impression that because I have Cigna, and Cigna is accepted at Vanderbilt Surgical Weight Loss Center, I would be a shoe in. I called Vanderbilt's Surgical Weight Loss Center to get the process going...and as soon as I told the woman on the phone my group policy #, she put me on hold, and came back to tell me that my insurance wouldn't cover the surgery. Needless to say, I was destroyed. I had put too much hope into the potential, and didn't live in reality. How many of you have had this happen? How did you combat it? Is there self-pay payment plans? Is this the end of the road for me?
