First day back to work!
mariomomi replied to Lallylocks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery last Thursday 10/30 and went back to work on Monday. I work in an office, so no strenuous lifting or anything. I spend the majority of my time on the phone with physicians and RN's. I took a road trip yesterday to take a doctor for an interview at a clinic and had to drive 1 1/2 hours each way. I've been feeling great though, not a problem at all. -

Embrace your own success and everyday victories!
mariomomi posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think we all need to embrace our own successes and everyday victories for what they are, a true blessing of a gift we've been granted for a fresh start to our health, our future and that of our loves ones. Too many people choose to dwell on the negative and all the bad things that come along with this journey. I choose today and everyday to be grateful for this blessing and to live my life accordingly in the future. We all need to remember those who support us and back us up while others try to tell us we are "taking the easy way out". Anyone who is going through this or has, can tell you this is not easy but it is what we must do to get our lives back on track for our future and that of our loved ones. So no matter who you are, what small victory you've had or haven't today, stop for a moment and remember the path that led you to where you are and the amazing future set out before you if you embrace these successes and everyday victories and be the amazing person you were meant to be! -

mariomomi replied to Flaxseed's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I agree, you need a support system especially in those first couple of days before and after to help keep you sane. My husband has been my rock and with me every step of the way. I think he even had asymtematic surgery himself as he felt my pain himself and we both came home from the hospital tired sore and ready to rest last weekend. -

I started at 235 at 5'3" and just had surgery on 10/30. Wearing 2XL tops and 18/20 pants. Down 15 lbs as of today. Have a long way to go, but know I'm on the right track -
4th day post op and feeling great! Down 15 lbs!

My surgery is tomorrow 30th as well and I've been on the liquid diet since the 15th. It hasn't been bad, but food isn't really that important. It's more about my health. I'm on Clear Liquids today and just drank my magnesium citrate to clear me out. That stuff is horrible, but choked it down. I'm only taking off Thursday and Friday from work. I work from home for American Red Cross and since I work here at my desk at home, I don't think I will need to take any additional time off. I've always been superwoman, so I will be fine. My surgery is scheduled for 8:30 am tomorrow, so we have leave our house at 4am to drive the 2 hours to the hospital, but better than spending money to stay in a hotel and not sleep. I'm so ready for tomorrow to be over and keep moving forward.

Anyone given a non liquid pre-op meal plan?
mariomomi replied to Ageekygal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine has been 2 shakes a day with one small meal. It's been fine and today is my last day preop. Today it's all clear liquids and I just had to drink my magnesium citrate to clear me out before surgery. I HATE THOSE...it was gross, but should be cleared out within a few hours. I'm so ready for tomorrow and get started on the other side. -
