    3.10.08 friday morning weigh in.

Last week - 192 This week - 190 I have not exercised all that much this week, actually only 2 times! It is TOM and I was exhausted. I am hoping I can finally get a fill for the first time next week. It looked like I stopped for 2 weeks, but saw some loss this week. Maybe I will wear a heavy sweater! I feel like I can eat anything and get hungry every few hours. My will power is ok, but it is tough. Gilta
  2. I am scheduled to go next friday for my fill. If it isn't better by Monday I will call and see what they want to do. It is strange as in the morning it is ok and it is by evening when it gets sore. Good news is I am down another 2 lbs!
  3. I don't really have any secrets. I eat about 800-900 calories a day and work out 2-3 times per week. I know the exercise has helped me out a lot. In the beginning I could only get about 300 calories in a day so that is where I lost a lot of my weight. I have slowed down a lot since I can eat more. Hopefully someone will let me know why this is happening! Hang in there, you will lose! Gilta
  4. Hi, I have not had a fill yet, so that isn't it. I exercised on Monday and this started Wed am so I don't think it was related to that. I have lost 43 since I started and about 30 since surgery. Gilta

    Did not get a fill.

I had the same thing happen to me! I am now 4 weeks later and only lost 4 lbs. I scheduled my fill for next Friday. I hope this jump starts me! Gilta

    I'm not losing weight!!!!

I am in the same place as you are! I have only lost 4 lbs this past month. I am scheduled for a fill late next week. It will be my first so hopefully this will help! Gilta
  7. Teri - I had a friend who also had the bypass and is at a stand still after 1 year. She lost 105 lbs in the first year, but still has another 70 to go. She wishes now she had the band as she does not know what to do. Congrats on the weightloss! I remember those early days watching the scale drop every day. It does slow down and that is where I am at right now. I have only lost 4 lbs in the past month and 3 of them were in the first week so nothing in the last 2! Carol - How did the protein increase go? Did it help? I was having a bit of a problem with hunger in the am, so I tried turkey sausage this am. I will let you know if that works! Melody - Wow - great job on the loss! I did not puree my meats, I just ate really slow and chewed the heck out of it. My first meal was grilled sea bass and it was wonderful. I only had 2 oz, but loved it. The fish is very soft so you don't have to puree it. I also used canned chicken, but ate it very slow and chewed, chewed and chewed some more. Let us know how it goes. Barbie - Which Sephora do you work at? Heather - Loved the pics! I ended up calling for a fill as I have only lost a few pounds in a month and not losing anymore. I hope the fill helps. I have had pain in my port site the past few days. I heard when you get your period that happens, so maybe that is it. Hope all is well. Gilta

August Banders - What are you eating?

Gary, I have to agree that I can eat more in the evening than during the day. I just don't think I could do that much. I guess I should be happy about that! I have not had a fill yet, but just scheduled one. I go on the 10th. They refused doing it back in Sept since I was losing 2lbs/week. Now I am lucky if it is 1/2 lb. I am sure we will figure this thing out! Gilta

    Three meals-or snacks as well?

I am eating 3 meals with 2 small Snacks. I have more of goals of no more than 1/2 cup of Protein with 2 TB of veggies with each meal. I am to get 60g of protein as well as my 60 oz of fluids. Gilta

August Banders - What are you eating?

Gary How are you eating the 10-12 oz of Protein at dinner? My MD limits me to less than 4oz at a time. I don't think I could tolerate it that much. Gilta
  11. Good luck with your interview! Let us know how it goes...

August Banders - What are you eating?

I am having a bit of a hard time figuring out what to eat! I need to find a really good cookbook to help me out. This is what I had yesterday: 1/4 cup egg beaters 1 oz low fat cheese 3 oz sea bass, 1/4 c veggies 1/4 - 1/2 cup pudding that I made with milk (helps increase protein) 1/4 cup vegetarian baked Beans, 1/4 cup canned chicken with LF miracle whip 1/4 cup hummus with cukes I think this works out to be less than 1000 calories. I also did work out as well and based on my monitor, I burned about 500 calories, so I did pretty well! Gilta
  14. Hi All, Did everyone love the raining weekend? I was hoping to go to the Naples Grape Festival, but with all the rain skipped it. I made it to Barktoberfest for a bit. I did not get much exercise in this weekend either. Melody - welcome! I was lucky enough to have found this group prior to surgery. I have my weightloss listed as what I have lost to date after starting this journey. I worked at losing all of the weight, so I am tooting my own horn! I know what you mean about the cream soups. When I was able to eat chicken, I added the canned chicken with cream of mushroom soup/or onion then I would only add 1/2 can of FF milk. This gave it almost the consistency of chicken ala king. Carol - We have to get together soon! I will email you directly so we can organize it up. I went shopping this weekend with my MIL and DH. I NEVER go with them as my MIL is a size 10 and my DH always picked out "older" clothes just because they were my size. I could never walk into a store and buy something unless it was Lane Bryant. I like their stuff there, but that was the only place. Well - I am offically out of the "W's"! I bought a size 14 jeans (the stretchy kind) and Large stretch wool like pants. I could not believe it. I tried on the 16's and they were too big. I tried on the non-stretch and the 16's are a bit tight, but I can button them. I was hoping to hit under 190's by October 1st and this am I am about 1/2 lb away. Hope all is well! Gilta
  15. I replied via private, but also thought I would reply here. I have not had any fills as of yet. They said as long as I am losing on a regular basis, then they will not fill me. This week I only lost 1 lb so I think I will need one soon. Gilta
  16. Terri Oh - I am so very sorry! You are more than welcome to join the thread! I have been on the August 2008 forum and not here too much. I see that you had your surgery on the 16th (my birthday!). How are you feeling? Are you up and moving around without problems? Where did you have your surgery? I read your post from a few pages ago. You are smart to get on the right path now with your boys. My son is 19 and he is overweight as well. I tried teaching him, but he just copied what I did. He now sees what I did wrong and is trying to change, but it is hard doing yourself. How much have you lost so far? Gilta

    Friday weigh in 26 september.

Good morning, Loss - 1 lb: I was hoping for more but as long as it is a loss Exercise - 2 aerobic classes, 2 training on elliptical and 2 runs on Wii fit Bindi - Great loss! Roheryn - It does sound like you need a fill. I am not too far behind you as well. Still no fill but needing one. Lindar - WOW - 4 lbs?? I dream of that! Janda - WOW and I thought 4 lbs was a lot, but 6?? How did you do that? Lana - I am one of those people that weigh themselves every day. I wish I could forget!
  18. Hi Barbie, I am sorry about your stomach bug. That is going around here too. I am grateful I have not gotten it yet. I am slowing down on my weightloss and only lost 1 lb this week. I was hoping for more. I know I will need a fill soon, but have been trying to put it off as long as possible. I had my surgery at highland. I have been extremely happy with their care there. THey have been very supportive throughout my journey. I had a bit of an issue post op with calories and the nutritionist talked to me for about 1/2 hour on the phone to straighten me out. Feel better. Gilta
  19. I have been on an exciting rollercoaster for almost 9 months. Going for all of the meetings, getting insurance approval, losing the required amount, liquid diet prior, waiting for surgery, having surgery, liquid post diet, mushy phase, soft food phase and starting back working out. Well - now here I am 8 weeks after surgery and I feel like I have lost some of the excitement. Now it is just the hard work of losing the weight. I still have not needed a fill yet as I am losing a pretty good rate. I am one of those people who needs steps to each goal. That is why I really did not have a problem waiting those 8 months to have the surgery, there was something that I had to do each month. This only had to happen once so I did not get that "bored" feeling. I am extremely happy I did this, but I think I am at that bored stage. Yes, I work out with a trainer and am eating well but I have lost some of the excitement. I work out with the trainer on Mondays (it is a circuit training class so there is no time to think, which I love), Tuesday Wii Fit, Wednesday Elliptical, Thursday Wii Fit, Friday - rest, Saturday - Total Body Conditioning Class, Sunday - rest. Anyone else? Any suggestions on how to get out of this stupid funk?? Gilta

    Loss of Excitement

Tess/Gary, Thanks for the advice. I am planning on giving away a bunch of clothes this weekend, so maybe my closet being empty will help! I am trying very hard not to buy too many clothes in my current size as I hope to be out of it soon. I am keeping track of my measurments, but only once every month. For me it is hard to see much of a difference each week. I will give a try with pictures and rewards and see if that helps. I guess I should just be glad that I am doing well!!! Gilta

    "shopping in my attic"

Gary, That is wonderful news! I do have a suggestion for you. It is something I decided to do once I started on this journey. I am removing all sizes that I have that are now too big for me. I am giving these away to another bandster who is about 2 sizes behind me. I am doing this so I no longer will be able to go back and "find" a pair of pants that will fit if I gain again. I want it to be hard for me to do this. Congrats again! Gilta

    Getting Started

I had to laugh as I wrote that topic almost a year ago! I have since been banded and am down 43lbs so far. My insurance was a breeze luckily! Gilta

    Getting Started

Hi - I am considering lap-band surgery, but I am not sure about the cost. I have BC/BS PPO in NY. I don't know where to begin. Anyone have any ideas/suggestions on getting started? Thanks! Gilta
  24. Hi Barbie, I am sure you will get those 6 lbs off quickly. Motivation is a wonderful thing! I have started working out during the biggest loser and I find that I can go much longer on the elliptical when I am watching that. I do not want to go back to the size I was! I am doing well! I am not almost 2 months out and I have not needed a fill yet! They put 2cc's in my band during surgery and that seems to be enough for me right now. I am starting to think about a fill as I am able to eat a bit more than I was, but I am still losing on a regular basis. They will not fill you until you stop losing. I like that about them. They will keep me in check this way. I do my official WI on Friday am, but I peeked this am. I am down 43 since starting this journey and 32 since surgery! That is about 4lbs per week. Not bad! I am eating about 900-1000 calories a day and they are mainly protein. Occasionally I have a piece of chocolate or a glass of wine, but portion size is much smaller. I started as a size 20w and now am close to a regular 16! I am really happy that I did this! Best, Gilta
