Great! We can get through the waiting period together!
-
Thanks for the recipes, they look good.

I am sorry you had to go through all of this.

Hi All, Had the meeting with the new MD. I like him a lot! I am now scheduled for August 1st. I was hoping earlier, but with the other MD out for surgery now for 6 months, they are a bit behind. I am on their waiting list in case they can fit me in. I am down 15 lbs so far and I hope to lose a few more before the surgery. Gilta

Sorry I was missing for a bit, but went on vacation. I found out my MD is going to have surgery and will be out 6-8 weeks! They offered me to meet with another one of their surgeons, so I meet with him next week. I figure I did not really know the original surgeon, just listened to him for the meeting. If I don't like this new one, I can always switch back! Ok - so my meeting is on the 28th. I am down 1 lb which is good, so hopefully I will be all set with the insurance. I think my surgery will be mid July now. Hopefully! How is everyone that had the band recently? All working well?

Hi All, It sounds like I am a bit earlier in the process than others, so I wanted your expertise. I am headed for my "nutritional" training at the end of the month. They told me that they will tell me how to eat after being banded. I know there are a lot of differences based on MDs, so I thought I would ask you what things have you found that you can no longer have? Thanks!

Heather - I am so sorry to hear about your dog. They become part of the family and it so hard to lose them. Congratulations on the weightloss! Gilta

Hi All, The meeting went well and I lost a total of 6 lbs so I am good to go! I am now waiting for them to call me to schedule my MD appt. They are saying it is about 8 weeks from release from nutrition to surgery. Oh boy - another long wait! How is everyone doing? TJ, HN - how are the bands? I got the post op plan of 10-14 days of liquids, not sounding too good to me but I know I need it. Gilta

Well I was doing so well and was down the 1.5 as of yesterday, but we had a family emergency and have not been able to continue. I still hope that I make it on Tuesday. I will let you know!

thanks for the tips. I will try all of these ideas starting tomorrow!

Hi All, I may need some help. I am going to my 2nd nutrition appt on Tuesday and I have needed to lose 11 lbs from my 1st weigh in. I lost 7 from that with my 1st appt, but had another 4 to go. Well as of this am, I am down only 2.5. Any suggestions on how to lose that 1.5 within the next 6 days??? I really don't want to have to add another appt onto this! Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi HN/TV Sounds like you two are moving right along! I feel like it is taking forever to get this done. I am sure you both understand what I am feeling. It is great to hear that both of your surgeries went so well. So how long are you waiting until the 1st fill? I think we were told 4-6 weeks, but I am not sure. I don't go until next week for my 2nd appt. Hopefully that will move things along faster! Gilta

I am glad to hear all went well tvveggie. I go for my 2nd nutrition meeting on the 22nd. Do they tell you then what your meal plan is up until surgery? THey are telling me it will be 6-8 weeks from that appt before the surgery. Keep in touch and let us know how you are doing! Gilta
-
Wow - that is soon! I wish you all the best. Keep us informed how you are doing.

When is your surgery? How long are you on liquids?

Boy - this thread took off since I started this! Sorry I have been MIA lately. I am jumping through all of the hoops to get my insurance company to pay. So far so good. I have gone through the general nutritional meeting, my 1st follow up and met with the psychiatrist. That meeting with them was interesting to say the least. The psychiatrist asked me how will I feel being thin and having guys rub up against me?! How weird was that? He at least went onto say that women sometimes have a hard time once they lose weight because they are not used to the attention and will gain weight back. I go for my hopefully last nutrition meeting 4/22 and then onto meet with Dr. They are now telling me it is 6-8 weeks for the scheduled surgery after my last nutrition appt, so I guess that will now be in July instead of May which is what I was hoping for. Hope all is well! Gilta

Hi All, I am working on my 2nd nutrition appt then will meet with the MD to get my surgery date. I am told that it probably will be late June early July. Anyone else out there?
-
Mine was when I was having severe headaches and found out my blood pressure was high. Back when I was thin, they used to tell me my blood pressure was on the low side!
-
I went to the nutritional meeting yesterday. I have 2 more to go to and then should be released to meet with the MD and get my surgery date. They told me with the schedule I am on, it should be end of May/early June. Why don't you email me directly gilta22@aol.com and we can keep in touch that way.
-
I was told from the MD office, that since I have more than 4 years of documented weightloss attempts I would be approved. I have been very involved with my MD and she has had records in my chart. Maybe that is why they approved it so quickly. Gilta

I hope to be much less than a year when I am done. I went to the information meeting in December and hope to have my surgery before July 1. I was slow in making my appointment for the first nutrution meeting so I did not make the January cut off. I lost a month there. I have my nutrition meeting Feb 28(next week!), then 2nd March 25th, the final on April 22nd. They told me they then refer me to the MD within 2-3 weeks after that last appointment. They said that within 2 weeks of meeting the MD I will have my surgery date. I also think it depends on your insurance. Mine did not require the 6 months with the nutrition, just the 6 year confirmation of weight loss attempts. good luck

thanks for the feedback!

I love to read so I thought I would check in on the post. I am also looking for a good book. Thanks for the advice to get it at the library. I will check it out. Gilta

I had to chime in as well. I love the Biggest loser, but wonder if I could make it! I did the same as others, thinking they look bigger than me but weigh less. One of the women from last year, lives in our area. They posted her information in our local paper and showed her measurements, sorry to say that while I thought she looked bigger than me her numbers were less than me. That is why I said I have to do something now. I am going for my nutritional meeting at the end of this month. Hope to have the band by June. I want to be the biggest loser in my mind! Gilta
