5 DAYS UNTIUL SURGERY!! I am trying my hardest to put positive vibes out so that I heal and have no/minimal complications but im always saying "what if" ive even second thought my surgery, and almost cancelled it. what if I chicken out the DAY OF?! oh my lord, I am so scared. I am just venting here. there are a lot of things I think about! leaks, heart problems, blood clots...how did you get through the scary thoughts??

Hi everyone, I am coming to ask all who has been sleeved if my fears are irrational or not normal. did you have these same fears? I am so scared of not waking up after surgery I am scared the surgery wont work. I am scared I will wake up and for whatever reason, come to find out the docs had to stop surgery and I am not sleeved. I am scared that after going thru surgery, my body will just have a major freak out and I will have a heart attack and die or that my body wont like the changed and just give out. I have paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (heart arrhythmia that causes the heart to quiver instead of beat. It can cause blood to pool in the atria of the heart which rises my chance of stroke by 5 fold. I have an "attack" about once a year. otherwise im fine). my cardiologist has cleared me for surgery. I have zero other health issues. I am 28, and very healthy. im just obese with my a-fib. I have never smoked and my last alcoholic drink I had was when I was 19. (not one word of a lie). for a big person I have oretty good stamina when it comes to exercise also. my cardiologist wrote a clearance letter for my surgeons and anesthesiologists. in the letter is says : "Aliesha's chances for serious perioperative cardiac complication is 1% and her Lee Index for a serious post operative cardiac complication is 0.4% equivalent to low" I know that pretty much sums up that I should be ok for surgery, but I cant help now that surgery is 2 weeks away, be absolutely terrified. TERRIFIED. I just want to live a life where I am healthy, lighter, and free from this prison. But I have to ask..........what is the risk? is it worth it?? Any insight would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hey guys So I'm 6 days post op and freaking out. I'm trying to get a hold on things but it feels so scary...I keep worrying "I haven't eaten enough" or "I'm not getting enough calories" or "im not supposed to feel nervous like this".....is this normal? I'm on full fluids. I can have anything from Water to thinned out cream of wheat. Puréed foods start this coming Tuesday. Am I dealing with a case of head hunger? How did you cope? Otherwise I feel fine physically.....not a lot of nausea, zero pain....but my mind is making me think of some regretting thoughts. I'm really desperate for some encouraent or some lift shed. Maybe I made a mistake

Hey guys! So no came home from hospital yesterday and I got 60 grams of Protein in as well as just over 64 oz of fluids. Urine is nice and clear. Here is my concern: This morning I woke u p with some nausea! I was able to have some apple sauce (it's included in my phase one full liquid suggestions) and about 20 grams of Proteins through my isoprene drink. I started to feel a bit better but took a gravel also and it helped a lot. Did you have any nausea? Why could this be happening? Should I up my calories? Will the ibis last for ever? Aside from tht, I feel fine. -
This is my ultimate fear...

My gastric sleeve surgery story
deftonestiffany posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My surgery was on Monday November 24 at exactly 8 am. In toronto ontario. I got my sleeve rough smart shape by dr.neil orzech at a private hospital in don mills, toronto. My surgeon has zero percent track record for vsg leaks or any serious complications, that was a big thing for me. I woke up at 4:30 am to shower and get my shit together, I was so nervous but I just kept pushing on. My fiancé and I left at 530 and was at the hospital at 630 am. I had to wait an additional 30 min to be registers because the registration office didn't open till 7, the nerves were horrible!!! Finally at 7 I was checked in and sent upstairs to the nurses unit where cross the hall was the operating room. In hue he nurses unit i was weighed in, double checked paper work and was sked some questions. The nurse, Svetlna, showed me my private room where I waited for my surgeon to come in and have a talk with me before surgery. He was very caring no sincere and my nerves melted away. I hen changed into my gown, got my blue booties on my feet nd put on my he surgical hair ever and walked into my operating room. The operating theatre was very fancy looking. Nothing but the best of the best it seemed, every single person there, part of hone medical team, introduced them selves. I got on the operating table and my anesthesiologist told me that he will take good care of me. I was extra worried because I have atrial fibrillation and general anesthetic can cause an arrythmic episode. My surgeon then came in NAND as he was talking to me my iv was started. He called for a "team meeting"around me and discussed my case with everyone. They were all so compassionate and caring. I was ready..... The nurse then put an oxygen mask over me, and the nethesiologist told me gat im going to get sleepy now...and that's all i remember.... Upon waking up, I felt something hard being taken out of yay chest throu. My mouth. It was my breathing tube. I kept going in and out from that point. Once I was awake, still in the operating room, I started to vomit. But because I was so drugged up i was laying down, the nurses had to literally lift me up so I wouldn't choke on my vomit. I managed to open one eye at this point' and I looked at the mess i front of me and was shocked to see nothing but blood coming out....i quickly passed out after that. I remember being moved to my recovery bed, and vomiting after that. I had to keep making myself sit up otherwise I would have chocked, and a hole doing so, I ripped my iv out. Blood was leaking everywhere along with saline. They gave me another iv and I had asked them to stop all pain medications. I would deal with the pain myself. The pain of vomiting just after having your stomach sliced and diced was painful enough. Anything I could do to reduce the vomiting, I would do....so they agreed. Surgery went very well, it was an hour and a half. The reson it was so long isn't because I had a hiatal hernia, in fact i didn't have one at all. It's because my spleen was SO CLOSE to my stomach the hat the surgeon had to take extra care and ease not to damage it. My liver was nice and reduced and my heart didn't even flutter once during surgery. The first 24 hours post op was painful and terrible. The vomiting up blood' dry heaves, lurching and gas pain was unbearable. I was in deep regrets. But I quickly sucked it up and told myself to toughen up. This too shall pas.... And it did. By the next day I was better. Hadn't thrown up since 6am and I even started sipping on Water. The acid reflux was bad, so they gave me some zantac thru the iv every 6 hours and that heed. As as able to go peek pass gas and walk around. Walking felt SO GOOD. It took the pressure off! Every single passing hour something got better and improved. I am now 5 days post op and am st rating to see a light at the end of the tunnel. That's my story. And I would do to to all over again if i had at out in a heart beat. I am 22 lbs down. And just taking it day by day. -

I had my surgery on Monday at 8am through smartshape by dr.orzech. First 24 hours was rough due to constantly vomiting blood and mucous. I started Clear liquids yesterday and tolerated them well! The best part???????......... My afib didn't even show a hint during surgery!!!!!!! I'm home now, taking Prevacid, the acid us killing me! But I can't believe how fast I felt better, day by day. Thank you to all the supporters here who answered my crazy questions..... I have been keeping up with my liquids and also to add, my surgeon has never had a single fatality or leak in his entire career..... I was reborn on Monday, iam ever so great full.

my surgery date is NOVEMBER 24!!!! and it has been paid in full today I have started my pre op diet (ugh) so far im experiencing nausea after my shakes (they are EXTREMLY nutrient dense) and dizziness. im getting about a total of 45 carbs/ day that's including my veggies and shakes and total about 800 cals max.. im feeling pretty good. my heart seems to be much calmer (no sugar rushes!!) what did u shop for pre and post op? were u nervous when it became "official"???? did u fear the "what ifs"??? <<<< I am big time, does this mean I shouldn't do surgery? I have 3 weeks until my life changed forever. I cant help but wonder if ill be that " rare" one that dies or has some sort of cardiac arrest or anything....cant help but think about the bad..... And im thinking "what if I try again? (even tho ive tried toooo many times) what if I just didn't try hard enough before?? (god knows I have!!) as I lay here, feeling like crap from the pre op diet.....im discouraged any advice, good vibes, encouragement, assurance would do WONDERS for me right now. and I APPRECIATE IT SO MUCH, thank you. -

my brother and mother are really getting me down my brother is very obese and at one point he lost over 100 lbs by diet and excersise and eventually gained it back and MORE and now weighs well over 325 lbs. he is always telling me "I WOULDNT DO WHAT YOUR DOING" meanwhile when he comes to my house he will bring a BAG of chocolate and sit there and eat the ENTIRE THING.... my mother hasn't once given me a word of encouragement, happiness for me or reassurance that things will be fine. she isn't "fat" but she isn't thin either. she is definitely over weight..... things seem to go really nice for me in my life. I am super happy. I have a house, new car, great job, wonderful daughter...im getting married this march...and its always like they seem to try and get in my way and ever since I told them about this surgery.....they DARE NOT ask me when, who is doing it, how long...anything!! told my mom I had a surgery date...ZERO RESPONSE.ZERO HAPPINESS. ZERO !!!! my dad fully supports me, he knoiws I have struggled my entire life and im in a position I can change my life he is so gung ho. same with my grandparents.... jealousy????

VSG AND HEARTBURN...ANY REGRETS OVERALL?
deftonestiffany posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
so I am about to be sleeved this November. I am 280 lbs. I have been fat my entire life!!!! I currently have heart burn (mainly because of my diet/weight) I have NEVER been diagnosed with reflux or GERD. and I have taken PPI in my past..... I understand that reflux is possible after the VSG. And it can be managed once you find an acid reducer that works for you but I have a question: EVEN THO YOU HAVE HEARTBURN AFTER GETTING THE VSG, IS IT WORTH GOING THROUGH TO LOSE ALL THAT WEIGHT?? ANY REGRETS AT ALL? I think its normal for me to second guess my decision (did you?) and make sure this is what I want FOREVER. and understanding the possible complications and risks. BE HONEST THANK U!
