    Partnership HEALTH PLAN Insurance

@@shaylady08 that's why I try to make sure I respond to everyone that has questtions in this post so people on this insurance know that it's possible. Because of course Partnership don't simply put it out there that bariatric surgery is covered. It just has to be medically necessary for them to cover it.

It's more of a conversation with your doctor where he/she can determine if bariatric surgery is good for you, then yes they'll refer you.

Yeah Santa Rosa is an hour and 10 minutes away. I normally get there in an hour and 3mins. I wish it was local but the trade of for partnership paying 100% is great

@@Tierra T Tij I went to the seminar 2/14/15 and had my appt with the surgeon 3/11/15. Had 3 appointments over 3 months (1 each month) with the bariatric nurses clinic and 3 appointments over 3 months (1 each month) with the exercise/nutritionist) these two places are directly across the street from each other so I always made them back to back on the same day. My surgery day way 7/27/15. They'll give you a list of test that needs to be done and you can do those locally. You will also need to do the psych evaluation at healthy steps as partnership will pay for that too. In order for partnership to approve the surgery it has to be deemed medically necessary. Go see your primary care doctor and get a referral to Healthy Steps in Santa Rosa (this is the only place partnership accepts so it must be them) after the referral, call healthy steps or go to their website to find out their scheduled days for their seminar, attend the seminar, then call them to schedule your appointment with the surgeon. After you go through the program they will submit to partnership for surgery approval. before finding all this out, my doctor referred me to UC Davis but when I called them and the rest of the bariatric places that was closer to me here in fairfield, they all did not accept partnership. So Healthy steps is the only place that Partnership is partnered with for Solano county and they paid 100% My experience with them is great and my Surgeon Dr. Woodbury is phenomenal.

    Post-op Panic Attacks

Oh my God, I had a panic attack 2 nights ago and was like what the heck was that!! Never had it before, took 4 puffs of my rescue inhaler and it helped. I chucked it up to being 9 days post-op, hormones, pain, and pure tiredness. Being just recently had surgery as a nurse I know that the body becomes naturally stressed as its trying to heal and repair itself. I'm just praying it doesn't happen again
  11. I don't know what they used to close the skin incision on you but for me it was a type of lidocain glue.I had my RNY 7 days ago and on the 2nd and 3rd day one of the doctors kept asking if my if a particular incision hurt or was itchy at all and I said no. It was look pretty nasty, turns out they called my surgeon and he said I was having an allergic reaction and peeled it off all my incisions, the bariatric nurse then put a piece of tegaderm on each one and its been good since. @@jeweledcitrus definitely give your surgeon a call.
  12. Sounds about right, although everyone is different, I just had surgery 6 days ago (7/27/15) and have lost 15 lbs so far.

now did you have the sleeve or bypass... I hope ur doing good Just got discharged today and feeling sore, I ended up getting RNY due to me having acid reflux...it's weird feeling full so fast. I had issues with my potassium dropping so they kept me and extra day. But all in all I'm great!

    Liver shrinking diet has solids?

Congrats on starting your journey @! No this is not unusual at all, I'm currently on my on my 2 week pre-op (liver shrinking) diet and it's a 1000 calorie diet with all food except on the day before surgery I'll have all liquids. Keep in mind that the pre-op diet can be done multiple ways and it varies depending on the hospital, surgeon, bariatric program and patient. Research is great but don't lock into it.
  17. Depends on your insurance and how thorough and fast your surgeons office is, I asked my surgeon's office how long it normally takes it to hear back from my insurance and they said 5 to 10 business days. Mine was just approved yesterday (7/15) and got the call from the hospital to schedule my surgery yesterday as well, it took 10 business days.
  18. As a chronic pain and migraine sufferer I had this concern too which is one of the reasons I started out wanting the sleeve. I stopped taking my motrin 800mg about 3 months ago to see if i could manage without them. My surgeon said I can still take motrins but I have to be careful when I do and not take them a lot like I was. I started using tylenol like my surgeon suggested, for most of my pain (not my migraines) taking 1 to 2 500mg tablets helps by either taking pain away completely or it'll just take the edge off enough where I can function a bit but it takes longer to kick in. I'm hoping as I loose weight after surgery I won't have as much pain.I also have a prescription trans-dermal NSAID cream for my joint pains that works great. I've suffered from chronic migraines for over 17 years and when they get bad I end up in the E.R on demerol, I'm on a preventative regimen and sometimes my migraine meds work sometimes they don't but my surgeon said I'll still be able to take those after surgery after I heal up.

    Gastric bypass risks.

I went into this wanting the sleeve (I was pretty hell bent on getting it) as it was less invasive and I didn't want them messing with my intestines (lol) but when I had my first appt with my surgeon I decided to keep an open mind. We discussed both options and he told me he thinks I would do great with either one. He said the RNY would be a bit more powerful and of course I'm thinking "I could sure use more power" lol. My surgeon asked if I had a acid reflux and I told him that I've had some episodes of it but it's nothing crazy. He then told me that the sleeve could make it worse and the RNY cures it. When I went home I thought about it, did more research and discussed it with my husband. Over the following month I made a decision the have Gastric Bypass. I also talked to a friend of mine who has been sleeved for 4 years and recently started having episodes of acid reflux and she's never had it previous to being sleeved, but even with that she's happy and has lost and maintained her fat lost. @greeneyezz My advice is to make sure you do your research to make the best informed decision for you because the fact is that anyone can complications with any kind of surgery, including bariatric surgery.
