Thats right around the corner, congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!! The liquid diet is what I'm sooo not looking forward to. I just starting drinking premier protein with 30 grams of protein and it's helped me keep the hunger under control.

@@melisa6115 I don't have an official date yet as I have 1 more month on my program but it's looking like late June or early July. Do you have a date?
  5. I chose the sleeve originally but told myself I would be open to the bypass if my surgeon could calm my concerns about it such as the multiple connections being more risky for leaks. I also use NSAIDs for pain which is not good for the gastric bypass pouch but since talking to my surgeon I've been taking Tylenol more and am hoping my knee pain and menstrual pain improves with my weight loss. My surgeon told me that he believes that both the sleeve and the bypass would work great for me its just the bypass is a bit more powerful, so over the following month and a half to two months of my program there I thought about it and I decided on the bypass and recently signed my consent form for it.

@@melisa6115 I considered Stanford but I didn't want to cross the bridge all the time, I'll be having my RNY surgery at Sutter Santa Rosa. 1 night hospital stay?

Sounds good to me, as a nurse I know its a bother for my patients to have me coming in their room for what seems to be every minute. So when I get my surgery, I'm praying for a 1 night stay.

@@GENNYOSKINNY Hey girlie! No date yet, currently in my 2nd month of a 3 month program at Healthy Steps in Santa Rosa (Partnership pays 100%, yaaay). My surgeon set a 25lb pre-op weight loss goal so I figure my surgery date will be around June or July. My Psych evaluation is on May 22nd and hope to schedule my EGD soon. I got my blood work, EKG, and chest X-ray done some weeks back. I'm sooooo looking forward to getting this tool to help me.

So glad that I came across this thread! I have Partnership too. When I called them to find out if they cover bariatric surgeries they said they do and when I asked what the requirements was they said it has to be medically necessary. Glad to have come across someone whose had the sleeve on this health plan.
  21. I know that can be scary reading about death rates but being that weight loss surgery should be a last resort, the alternative of remaining obese can ultimately lead to death too early. I'll be sure I'm up walking around the same day of my surgery to help avoid the main cause of death after these surgeries which is a pulmonary embolism. I pray that your surgery goes great with no complications.
  22. As a nurse I can only think one way that having sleep apnea can affect your surgery. Theres two types of sleep apnea, obstructive and central. Obstructive sleep apnea, (the more common form) occurs when throat muscles relax too much causing obstruction. Central sleep apnea, occurs when your brain doesn't send proper signals to the muscles that control breathing. Central sleep apnea would mean there's some problems with your central nervous system and the surgeon may delay your surgery until that's resolved or a treatment plan is in place. So it may delay things but as long as they can verify its being treated (CPAP) then things should move along.
