Final week of Thanksgiving post!
bobbyswife posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I hope all of you have had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I've really enjoyed all of your responses to my posts over the last week. It has been refreshing to see all the positive thoughts and answers to the Thanksgiving questions. I know that sometimes it's easy to get lost in the chaos of day to day life, and I just wanted to break up the routine a little bit and get us all thinking about the wonderful things in our lives. Today's post will wrap it all up with some memories, if you'd like to share. Please tell us one of your favorite memories from the holidays as a child or from any time in your past, and why you are thankful for those memories. Maybe it's Thanksgiving or Christmas, or maybe even a birthday. My favorite memories from childhood are of going to my grandmother's house. We have a big family with lots of cousins. Our family is very close and the times we spent together are more valuable to me than anything in the world. Laughter was an ever present component of each of those holidays, as well as a hearty meal, and everyone felt special and loved. I am thankful for these memories because they remind me that even though my relationship with food is changing, my relationship with my family will always be strong, and that's the most important thing to me. -

@RJ'S/beginning I know you have been through a lot, but us newbies might only be picking up bits and pieces of it. Have you written out your story? Could you point us to it? Love your post. Happy Anniversary to you and your wonderful hubby -

Rebecca, I probably have some things I can give you. Someone recently gave me some free protein samples, and she only asked that I pay it forward, so PM me your address and I'll get out a package to you. I'm a shorty, too so they will be good on length for you, too -
Today's post is going to be EASY! Everyone should be able to do this one! Pick your partner, husband, wife, children, best friend or whoever is the closest to you and say what about them you are so thankful for! Of course you know why you are thankful for them, but writing it out will make you feel even closer to them I am SO thankful for my husband because he is my very best friend. He supports me unconditionally, and walks beside me through every decision I have to make. He encourages me to reach for my dreams and backs me up without fail. He is my partner, my companion, and my lover. I love you, Bobby!

If you weren't obese "all" of your life, what is it that caused you to become obese ?
bobbyswife replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Pregnancy, followed by a disastrous relationship is what my knee-jerk reaction is, but the fact of the matter is that I caused my obesity by not being able to put down the damn fork! -

We all had such a great time uplifting others on the first positive post . Now let's take it one step further. We're going to do this every day up to Thanksgiving This one is going to be interesting. I want you to share at least one thing that you are thankful you learned from being an overweight or obese person. Make it a POSITIVE thing, nothing negative. For me, I am thankful that I learned that my true friends and closest family will stick with me no matter what I look like. I also learned how to notice people for their hearts and minds, and not what's always on the outside, because I wanted people to notice that about me, too. What are you thankful for learning?

I don't know about you but I am LOVING all the awesome responses we are getting to the daily positive posts from Wednesday and Thursday. Let's keep the momentum going! For today, to reflect on Thanksgiving and the holidays, how about you toot your own horn for just a minute! Sometimes it's easy to be down on ourselves, but why not share something that you've done for someone else that not only made them feel good, but it made you feel good, too! It's ok to pat yourself on the back from time to time! Ok, here's mine. One year at Christmas time as my family asked me what I wanted for Christmas I got caught up in the thought that I really don't NEED anything. So, I thought, wouldn't it be really cool if instead of buying crap for me, all my family purchased a gift for a child that would otherwise have nothing at the holidays. My mom took the lead of finding the child, a little girl about 6 years old. My family purchased different items for her. A bike, a coat, a bookbag, other assorted clothing and lots of toys. They laid it all out on the floor under my Mom's Christmas tree and took a picture of it and wrapped the picture up for me with a copy of the letter that my Mom had written her about how we all chipped in to give her a wonderful Christmas. It's one of my favorite memories, and one that made me want to "adopt" a child for Christmas every year. C'mon and share something you've done!
