Question about insurance
KMCarlson replied to natedinsmoor2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have that insurance, but I would definitely call! I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Iowa, and I had a terrible time getting my approval. If I hadn't called repeatedly, I'd still be waiting! -
120 pounds lost and 7 months out PIX
KMCarlson replied to sleevie.wonder's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You look great! You and I are the same height and your pre op weight is close to me now (I'm still 11 days pre-op), so I hope I can get similar results! -

@@Packerfan61964, I saw your thread about the goal weight still being in the "overweight" range. As a result, I changed my goal. I feel like, since I've been heavy my whole life, I was selling myself short. I knew my original goal was still overweight, but I look at my family and my history and think "it's good enough." My mom had the RNY about 5 years ago and while I think she looks fabulous, she tells me she is still in the "overweight" category, which is shocking to me when I look at her. I'm hoping that being younger and never having had babies will help me lose even more than my mom did. I don't think she weighs the 180 pounds I had originally set my goal at, and she is an inch or so taller than I am. I'm nervous that I'm setting myself up to fail. Anyway, all that said, 160 pounds puts me with 9 pounds to spare within the "normal" range. -

@@ArtDLG, I think the plan varies greatly from program to program. My mom had the Roux almost 5 years ago and she only had to do a 5 day liquid diet. Now for my sleeve it's 14 days. It's a different program. I think if that's what your doctor recommended, go with it. Since you're not as severely obese as others, he may not be as concerned about your belly fat or liver getting in the way. I've seen lots of people post that their plans include lean cuisines for one meal per day, so I'm thinking it must be a fairly common thing. I'm jealous for sure. lol -
What is everyone NOT going to miss after sleeve?
KMCarlson replied to alexsisv's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will NOT miss feeling awkward in social situations because I'm the biggest person there. I will NOT miss not being able to shop with my friends because they don't sell plus sized clothes in the stores they like. I will NOT miss worrying about when the inevitable diabetes will kick in. I will NOT miss the dread I always have before I have to get on a scale at the doctor's office. I will NOT miss wearing bigger clothes than and weighing 100 pounds more than my husband. I will NOT miss feeling like I'm being judged while eating because I'm fat. I could go on and on... -
I started my liquid diet yesterday. I was working, which is actually easier than when I'm at home and in charge of feeding small people. I keep almost taking bites of food and having to remind myself not to. I "get" 3 nutrimax shakes, 3 nutrimax shakes/soups, along with SF Jello and popsicles. I've also been drinking Crystal light like it's going out of style. haha I was really tired yesterday and went to bed before 10, which never happens. I don't know if it was from the diet, lack of coffee, work, or a combination, but I was EXHAUSTED. I hope that doesn't last the whole 2 weeks.

Surgery on the 29th for me! I start my 2 week liquid diet tomorrow, which I am loathing, but I guess it's a necessary evil. @@ArtDLG, the liquid diet is to shrink your liver so they can more easily move it out of the way during surgery. While not all doctors do 2 weeks, some liquid diet beforehand seems pretty much standard. -
Surgery Nov. 10th. Question about liquid diet.

2 week liquid diet here. I start tomorrow for surgery the 29th. eeek! -
Mind if I join in? I have surgery on October 29th. I start my 2 week liquid diet tomorrow (which I am super nervous about). I think I will most miss coffee. haha I had myself a moment at Starbucks this morning after all my preop testing and teaching. I'm anxious to get the surgery behind me. ~Krystal
