  1. Love it. It feels great to do other things for yourself that compliment the weight loss. Enjoy:)
  2. Yes it's totally normal. I was exhausted for the first few weeks after surgery. I had to nap during the day and didn't really like being out for more than an hour as I got worn out. My Doctor advised me to let my body rest and make sure I'm getting enough protein in as this can really slow you down. Hope you feel better!

    Calling all 20 somethings!

Hi! I'm 24 and was sleeved of June 5th. Let me know if you have any questions or need someone to talk to:)

    First day post-op

My blood sugar was a bit off while in the hospital. They weren't really worried about it though as your body is trying to make major adjustments right after surgery. I had to do a swallow test as well before they let me have anything so I feel your pain on that one! Hope everything works out. Keep us posted!
  5. ONEDERLAND is so close!

    Today's the day!

Yay!!!! Congrats. Best wishes to you
  7. I was sleeved in June. Per my insurance, I had to have my surgery done before the end of August or they would not cover it after that. I would check with them first and see if there are any type of time restrictions. Other than that, my surgeon had given me his next available date and I took it. He only does surgeries on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I kind of had an idea to when it would be. I would run it by your insurance first, and then I'm sure your doctor will work with you on a date. Good luck!

    Ladies only pleasee

My cycle was off for about 3 months after surgery. I actually had my period the day of surgery. It stopped 2 days later and then started again 2 weeks later. I went to my pcp and was put on a new birth control. I haven't had any issues since. Definitely let your surgeon know at your next follow up!
  9. I was a hot mess the day before/morning of surgery. It's totally normal and I think a little bit of nerves are good! It shows that you know what you are getting yourself into. I think the odds of anything happening to you are way less than 1 in 1000. I can't remember the exact number but I'm pretty sure my surgeon told me it was less than 1%. I'm so excited for you! And just think- as your kids grow they will never know you as being overweight! They will only ever see you as their healthy and happy mommy Please keep us posted once you are home!!
  10. Monday is normally a drag but when I got on the scale today I saw that I FINALLY have lost 100 pounds! I'm excited- but not trying to Celebrate too much since I know I have a long way to go. But still, I'm very happy! Did you do anything special to celebrate your milestone? How did you feel? This is all still so new to me.

    Your dream outfit

skinny jeans!!!!!! with a cute top and boots and a nicely fitted pea coat <3
  12. 'Buyers remorse' is a common term that is used in the hospital where I had my surgery. My first day post-op I completely lost it. I was so emotional. Thankfully, it IS normal! It's a huge life change. You have permanently altered your body, plus there are hormones flying around everywhere Congratulations on getting the surgery. Get ready for life to become awesome!!!
  13. Liquids is the hardest part! It's a big shock to your body that is so used to food! sugar free Popsicles really helped me a lot. I was still getting the hand to mouth contact that I think my body was looking for. Once you're back on regular foods it gets easier. You can feel the 'fullness' when you eat, and you get so excited about the way you start to look it gets easier to overcome! I still get cravings all the time (6 months out) usually at night, I just let myself go through it and find something productive until it rides itself out. They are much less frequent now. Keep up the good work! You're doing great!!
  14. I lost 24 pounds the second month. It slowed down a bit from the first month but it's also a great time to start upping your work outs! I workout 5-6 days a week for 1-2 hours a day and I haven't had a month where I've lost less than 11 pounds. It really does help prevent any major stalls

    Coffeeee

I waited awhile to jump back into coffee! Was a regular drinker and stopped completely the month before surgery. My hospital is really strict on the caffeine and even decaf has some in it still so I was careful! I had my surgery in June and had my first cup last month! It was actually a nice break. I needed to break the cycle personally because I would add so much cream and sugar to it! I've found new way to enjoy decaf Enjoy!

How do you guys eat out...

I definitely stick to Protein based meals. Sometimes I check out the kids menus because the portions are MUCH closer to what we should actually be eating. Be careful with that though...you can still get something fattening off of it! But usually a kids chicken sandwich with no bun and maybe a slice of low fat cheese on it and a side of steamed veggies works for me. I still don't usually finish it but I don't like to bring home food anymore and it's a bit cheaper! To be honest, I usually eat before I go out now and will just savor a glass of wine or something instead. Much less stressful that way! And it give me more opportunity to focus on the company I'm with rather than stressing out about food.

    Cold Feet For Surgery

Hands down the best decision of my life. I had a lot of fears too...mostly that I would fail or wouldn't lose weight the way I thought I would. It's actually a very minor procedure. My surgeon had told me gall bladder surgery is more risky. You definitely have to understand the risks of the surgery, but the odds of something actually happening are under 1%. If you allow it to, the surgery WILL change your life. You can't see it as a diet, or a quick fix to getting the weight off. It does require work from you. You still have to make good food choices, you still have to exercise, and you have to find new habits to replace your bad eating ones. I ate when I was bored or wanted to relax. So I found new things to do with my hands instead of eating. I started to learn how to knit, I wrote, I learned how to do make up a lot better. Just different things to keep my mind off food. Struggling with food is going to be a life long things for us. I asked my nutritionist about why we do, and there isn't really a clear answer. We don't always have something to pin point in on, but this surgery gives us an amazing tool to fight back and overcome. You just having to make the choice every day to do so. You're already off to a great start by posting on here! Having support is key. Just remember- nothing about this can be as scary as your life bring cut short because of your health. I am sending you lots of luck as you make the next step on your journey. Congratulations!!
  18. Hi everyone! My name is Michaela I'm newish here. I was sleeved on June 5th of this year. I was 23 at the time and 24 now. I'm closing in on the 100 pound mark which is super exciting! I have definitely noticed a lot of life changes as far as relationships and frienships go...I would love to hear stories of changes you've experienced and how you have dealt with them.

    OVER 300 lbs

I was 316 when I went in for surgery. Now down to 218! Congrats
  20. Routine is key for me! I eat 4-5 small portions every day. It keeps the cravings down and prevents me from overeating. I also keep my 'meals' at the same time every day to keep myself in a good rhythm. It's worked for me so far as I have only accidentally over eaten once or twice and it helps me to eat enough to keep my energy up. You should definitely be able to feel when you've over eaten. The times I've done it I've thrown it all back up less than 10 minutes later. My nutritionist advised to keep every meal under 20 minutes. It helps to not pick at things after you know you're done. I usually do it in less time. I know exactly how much to eat now since I eat the same food every day.

    Life Changes?

@ It's weird...the people closest to me treat me pretty much the same. It's not too bad. A lot of acquaintances though are all of a sudden much nicer to me. I feel like my office at work is a revolving door with how many people want to stop by and chat. I get much more attention from guys as well. I knew it was going to happen...they actually prepare you for it in the group sessions you have to go to where I got my surgery. It's still very strange to deal with though. I'm having a much harder time with it than I thought I would.
