    Preparing pre surgery

I am going to sign up for Gwynnie Bee. It's basically like renting clothes for a fee per month. I see no point in buying clothes, but I also have to continue to dress well professionally.
  2. All the surgeons differ on their preop diet requirements. Some allow broth. My surgeon is more lenient and allows 4 shakes a day (150 calories each for 600 total) then a 500-600 calorie meal per day depending on your height (all total 1100 to 1200 calories per day). I felt like this was too much so I limit myself to around 850-900 calories for the day. Anyhoo, yes, some allow broth!
  3. Hey! 11/6 is my day, too! My surgeon had me do them last Monday, and they were ready for him to view within 24 hours. I could see all my bloodwork and tests results on my patient portal through the hospital.

    Syntrax nectar

Syntrax is getting me through the preop diet! I absolutely hate sweets, which is exactly how most Protein shakes taste. However, I actually enjoy their Peanut Butter cookie flavor!

    November dates

Can I be added? My surgery date is 11/6! Please post who has admin privileges so I can PM them my Facebook name. Thanks! (Edit: Nevermind, figured it out and messaged you - thanks!)
  6. I'm glad you got it! I also had to ask a brand new PCP for the letter on our first appointment haha. I can understand why you were nervous!
  7. I am grateful that my preop diet isn't as awful as some. I get 4 Protein shakes per day then 1 small meal a day ensures I stay under 1100 calories total. It's pretty easy since my Protein drinks are only 600 calories total. It isn't that bad. I'm on day 4 and have lost 5 pounds. Hopefully yours won't be as bad as you anticipate!
  8. I had all my pre-op testing done today! In my case, it was bloodwork, EKG, and complete series of abdominal ultrasounds. Normally they do a lung x-ray and upper GI, but since I'm so young and have no comorbidities, they didn't do them. They might end up adding it before the surgery, but I doubt it. As we went along, everyone told me that all my results looked fine! I am actually feeling a lot less nervous now!
  9. As for my family, I've told them all exactly what's going on. They're all very supportive, though none of them live nearby. For most everyone else, I'm not saying anything. I am a graduate student so I both work and attend school. For that reason, I've had to be a little forthcoming. I just say I'm having surgery. Very few people have tried to pry me for information after I say that. It's rather nice. When they do pry, I say I'm having a surgery that will help combat my symptoms of PCOS, particularly my battle with losing weight. Most of the time, that stops the conversation. I think they 'get' it at that point. I'm not ashamed to have this surgery, but I am pretty private about my health (which is otherwise excellent, but still).
  10. I got called this week to set up my pre-op testing! I will be done on Monday, then I discuss the results with my doctor on the 29th. Hopefully everything is good! November 6th is fast approaching.
  11. Hi everyone! I received my insurance preapproval and surgery date today. I could have had it performed on October 31st, but I ultimately went with Friday, November 6th so that I wouldn't miss my daughter's Halloween festivities. Super excited, but also super nervous. My clinic requires a 2 week liver shrinking diet, but I think I will do it for 2.5-3 weeks to be on the safe side. So, I guess I'll start that this weekend.
