    First fill next week

It's impossible to generalise...Everyone is different & it depends on so many different factors...Calorie intake, activity levels, metabolism etc. Some people lose weight without ever having a fill others need several. It really is just a case of suck it & see. I'm afraid! That's the beauty of a band... it's adjustable.

Lap Band Erosion...till death do you part...

Hi Melinda. Yes.. I've got an appointment tomorrow... so we shall see!! I too have been burying my head & blaming myself for not chewing enough etc. Deep down I know something is not right. It's not like when I had the slippage as I'm not bothered with acid reflux. But I just can't eat properly, and as you so rightly say.. we adjust accordingly as this band has taught us to do that. Trouble is i have all of the drawbacks & none of he benefits at the mo. Are you still in hospital? Please keep me updated.

Lap Band Erosion...till death do you part...

Hi I read your post with interest. I had my band put in Aug 2008. In April 2014 I had further surgery to readjust it as it had slipped. I am no longer losing any weight. Almost back to where I started. But I can't swallow properly. Everything you described is how it is for me. 2 hours to eat a meal. Rushing to the toilet to purge all the time. Sometimes even fluids hurt like hell. Im thoroughly miserable & fed up with it now. I've had 2 episodes of the severe pains under the ribs that you described. I was crying in agony. It's got to point where I'm avoiding solid foods completely. I'm living on Soup. Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you & wish you a speedy recovery. I have an appointment tomorrow with my Bariatric nurse. For the second time in a month. Last time she removed 2ml but it made very little difference.

  6. Hi Amy Not sure I can answer all your questions but I'm in a similar Situation to you. I was originally banded in 2008 and lost 85 lbs also. I've now regained Approx 2/3 of it. I had to have my band repositioned in April due to a slippage. Hence why I gained weight. I had first fill 4'weeks later. 4ml at in at mo but weight is not shifting yet.
  7. I'm lucky I guess as I instinctively know when I've had enough. You appear to be doing everything 'right' ie eating slowly & watching your portion sizes. I'm not Clear from your post if you are worried about Under or overeating? I'd suggest not being so hung up on the amount you are eating and try to listen to your body. I can assure you as long as you are eating a varied diet you will not become malnourished. I ate what I wanted and let my weight loss tell me How I was doing. Try it!

    Band Removal

I'd also like to know why it's being removed? As someone who had my band repositioned a week ago as it had Slipped. I toyed with the idea of removal butmcoulnymface the prospect,of,ending up back where I started 7 years ago,,

    Correction surgery

Hi I was just wondering how many of you lap band veterans have had to have some form of correction surgery? I was banded in 2008 and initially did really well, losing about 7 stone (100 lb) in total. But since last May things have been going drastically wrong. I've now put on half of my initial weight loss, I'm sick after every meal & either constantly hungry or uncomfortably full. I'm on PPI's for acid reflux and sometimes the pain in my chest & around my rib cage is excruciating. I had a barium swallow on Thursday and was told my band has slipped. My pouch is grapefruit size (instead of golf ball size) but the gap is small. So I'm eating more to fill the pouch but the food is not going through very quickly, So hence I'm being sick!! At least I now know what the problem is, but was just wondering how common this is? Im now waiting to see consultant to discuss my options and wondered I'd anyone has any experienCe of this happening. Also, with a band that is 7 years old, is it 'worth' having it repaired? Does anyone know how long they are expected to last? I have been doing a bit of research and it seems that by 10 Years 50% of people have needed correction surgery of some sort. Can I ever get back to my initial success or maybe I've become too complacent?

    How Long

Hi, my sympathies go out to you as I have been suffering this awful nightmare since last May. I Eventually had a complete unfil in December and am further tests next week. Yes, the unfil does seem to take a while To kick in fully. Probably a good week I'd say. However, I am still suffering, although, to a lesser degree. I've started being sick again recently, after almost every meal And on at least 2 ocassions have been sick in my sleep!

    possible complications

Hi Your post could have been written by me..!!! I'm in my 7th year, having been banded in October 2006. I did manage to get to goal, even less, but since Last May things have not been right. I had a complete unfil in December and am currently waiting for further tests. Needless to say, I'm gaining loads of weight, but I'm still being sick most days and am now having to Take medication for the constant acid reflux.

    band slip/dilated esophagus

Hi I'm 6 years post op and I've been having similar problems since last May. Had a complete unfil in December and now waiting for the barium swallow appointment to come through. I'm still in quite a lot of discomfort a lot of the time. Mornings are pretty bad with the reflux and I'm still bringing majority of what I eat back. But now with the band deflated I'm also ravenous most of the time bIt can't eat very much either. What a nightmare. Anyone else has similar symptoms?

    First fill today. Help needed.

Hi, I've had loads of fills over the years and have never needed to return to a liquid diet or even knew that you were supposed to. If you were able to swallow you pills before I'm sure you will be fine. 0.5 cc is only a small fill.
