    Day 4 postop

ok...the eagle has landed! So to speak...I have my first post-op appt. today, and my body finally decided that it would let go of the ick it has been harboring in my bowels. Small as it was, I finally pooped!!!! My 8 year old said it was like I was potty training again! Small things to rejoice about after a long 5 days. I am not a week out yet (thursday), but according to my scales I lost 9 pounds, so I guess that is reason enough to celebrate. Is it strange to be craving anything that I can chew? Up until now I have lived on water, crystal light, chicken broth, and healthy choice tomato soup. I am dying for something that actually has substance! I am hoping the doc will let me move on to purees, but I'm not counting on it. I am knocking wood right now because as of today I have not had one problem with being nauseated or having things come back up! I return to work tomorrow and feel pretty good. Let's see how I am after facing 6 classes of 7th graders! Hope everyone is doing well...more to come!

    Day 4 postop

So all of my paperwork says that day 1 is the day you wake up in your own bed, so I am thinking that today is 2...I'm doing pretty good I think...I haven't pooped anything, and I can't get the milk of magnesia down my throat. It's disgusting! I have not been sick, and I have been drinking between 20 - 28 oz of liquid (knock wood). I know I need to increase it, and I'm working on that...sonic ice is a lifesaver! The worst part so far is finding a comfortable sleeping position. I'm sending my husband to find a corset of sorts that will help keep my belly from moving so much. It seems that everytime I turn over, my insides slosh around! I had a corset when I had my hysterectomy and it really helped. Has anyone else ever used one after GS?

    Roll call for Sept 30th...

Hello fellow sleevers! I am on the other side of the operation now and have been doing fine. I am a little sore, but I only had 3 incision, and no hernia repair. I am slowly drinking in my fluids, and have come to love sugar free popcicles! I have been walking, and so far, so good. No nausea and not many gas pains! I hope that everyone else is doing well!

    October 30!

I am also scheduled for 8:30 in the morning...it can't get here soon enough! We only have 45 minutes to drive, so it should be relatively easy to get there. Good luck and we'll talk again on the other side of the surgery!

    October 30!

ok, now the nerves are setting in...all packed and ready to go, just waiting on the phone call to tell me the time! The good news is that after 3 days of liquids I already lost 6 pounds! Taking measurements tonight and weighing in tomorrow! Any other Oct. 30 sleevers getting nervous?

    October 30!

today has been tough...husband had to work late, and I dutifully sipped my broth for dinner like a good girl...trying hard to stay busy so I'm not tempted. I did get on the scale today and I've lost 4 pounds in the last 2 days. I'm waiting until tomorrow to log an official start weight and do measurements. I'm getting impatient waiting to find out what time I can go in on Thursday. Part of me wants it to be early to get it over with, but I would still like to be able to bring my daughter to school and keep things normal for her if I can! So many things to get in order before I'm down for a while! I'm handing out candy on Halloween while my husband takes our 8 year old trick or treating, so I'm hoping to be awake and have enough energy!

    October 30!

going a little crazy here...trying to get everything in order at work and at home to make sure things run smoothly while I'm gone! Liquid diet sucks, but I am doing it voluntarily. You can do it! We only have 2 more days to go! I'm anxious to see what time my surgery will be..they're going to call on Wed. and let me know. Hoping I can get packed tomorrow and then relax on Wed. night. Good luck to you and stay in touch!

    Surgery Tomorrow! !

best of luck to you! please post all you can to help the rest of us patiently waiting until 10/30!!!
  13. my doctor and I decided on a "realistic" goal based on what he has seen. I am going this week to stock up my fridge...I love Crystal Light, so I'm planning on lots of frozen pops and snowballs when I get home! I'm not much on Greek yogurt, but they say your tastes change, so I guess we will see...We will need to keep in touch after our surgeries and compare notes!
  14. Had a moment of breakdown tonight, but got through it. A good friend of mine was going through her clothes that she wanted to get rid of, and I told her that I wanted them if she was giving them away. As I went through a multitude of beautiful, barely worn, size 10 and 12 clothes, I just cried. I don't think I have been that size since I was in junior high school! The possibility that I will be able to get down to something that small is almost more than I can take! I am two weeks away...it can't get here soon enough. I'm already on an emotional rollercoaster...I hope I don't become a total basket case after surgery! Anyone else feeling like this?
  15. We have another thing in common...I bake wedding cakes as a side business to teaching...I'm hoping that I'll be able to continue that, but I haven't taken any cakes until after Thanksgiving just in case I have a problem!
  16. I didn't have to do the pre op diet, but I'm thinking it would be in my best interest to get used to the liquids starting next week. I hope I can handle it!
  17. Having surgery on Oct. 30th...nerves are starting to set in about drastically changing my body, but I am determined that this tool will be the answer for me. I am under the care of Dr. Michael Thomas, and will be having the surgery in New Orleans, LA. I am a cash pay, so I really didn't have many of the issues most of you with insurance did...waiting period, pre-surgery liquid diet, etc. My starting weight is 226 lbs, and I am hoping to be around 135 - 150 in one year. I bought all of the Vitamins and Protein for after the surgery, but am a bit concerned about being able to get them down. Some are chewable, some are small gel pills, but even so, I hate to vomit and I'm worried! It took me a long time to convince my husband that this will be the best thing I've ever done, but he is now on board and very supportive. Hope to talk to many of you as we go through this together!
