I was at 300 until week 7. After week 7 about 500 calories. -
How often do you see your surgeon/office visit post-op?
aelovelady replied to Erron1970's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

It is just called Bariatti Timer, the author is called Amit Farkash I think it is the only one I have seen. Really helpful! That was Bariatric Timer

Post op diet Clueless
aelovelady replied to Ourlifecomplete's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not restricted to anything, at all. I eat sugar, in moderation. -
I basically followed the rules, the first was the not drinking for 15 minutes before to 45 minutes after meals? To help with this I use the bariatric timer app on my phone. It really helps. The second is to eat for 25 full minutes, small marble sized bites spaced 1 minute apart and thoroughly chew. The longer food stays in your stomach the longer you stay full and third is to not take in any calories from liquids, which I follow pretty closely; even alcoholic drinks, I minimize calories wherever possible. Every day is not perfect, I slip up frequently? But I start every day with the intent to flow through and for the most part I stick wit it. My final suggestion is to track your intake, every bite, not that it's necessary, but it builds a consciousness about what you are eating, I use "my fitness pal"

I actually looked in to the sleeve, but when I researched it and read about the higher percentages of weight loss with the RNY I changed my mind immediately! I am 10 months out and 107 of 111 lbs lost. I have 4 lbs to go. I had a text book surgery and recovery with absolutely no side effects. So, no, I have no regrets. Nothing can compare to the feeling of pulling on size 4 Levi's and not having to pull hard to get them buttoned.

I use unsweetened vanilla almond milk in my coffee. 30 calories per cup, little sugar.
-
I like lemon tea.

No soda, unless you leave it out and let it get flat. There are a lot of chemicals in diet soft drinks that cause you to have cravings for other things, aside fr the carbonation issues.

Drinking from a straw

I asked my doctor and he said if the air didn't bother me, it didn't bother him. -
getting my protein in
aelovelady replied to wilk169's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, each one is different. I was happy to not puree food though, I can't imagine it's too pleasant. -
So they think I might have a stricture
aelovelady replied to Daisee68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is awful!! I really hope they find a cause and can fix it soon! Keep us posted! -
Keep up the good work. For most of us, food is an addiction, wanting to lick a hot dog isn't so bad! Just follow the direction of the doctor and nutritionist and you will be great! Keep us posted!

I am so happy for you. It is going to be an amazing journey.

getting my protein in
aelovelady replied to wilk169's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told by my surgeon and nutritionist to not use protein drinks at all after week 2 post op. They do not encourage any calories whatsoever from liquids. This is because liquid does not stay in your stomach and therefore cannot keep you full for any length of time. We are encouraged to get protein from whole foods, he doesn't do puréed at all either. -
I would find a new nutritionist!

That is awesome news!!! Without our health we nothing! Keep up the good work -
I just asked my nutritionist yesterday, I am 10 months out and within 5 lbs of my goal. She said calories wise 650 - 1000, half should be protein from whole food, the rest split between carbs and fat. My surgeon told me earlier that it is actually pretty difficult to stretch your pouch, if you go back to the eating habits you were taught (hopefully) during the time of your surgery you should be able to lose it pretty easily.

How far postop are you?

Had gastric bypass 8/20/ 15, slow revovery?

I totally concur with -terrydumont46. The results of tearing your pouch are hideous. Don't take the chance. -
How much cn you actually eat?
aelovelady replied to Julie West's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think for me training myself to eat slowly, (painfully slowly, one bite per minute) has really really helped. I get very full. I was told I am supposed to stay mostly full for a full 25 minutes in order for that fullness to last 5 1/2 hours. It really works. I am 10 months out and within 5 lbs of my goal weight, 106 lbs lost. -
