    6Month Lab Results

Mine is high too! You will probably be asked to take your B-12 every other day instead of every day!

    'My FAT saved my life"

    I can't see the pictures!
  4. You should never eat if you aren't "stomach hungry". I found a couple of "go-to" activities to do when these occasions occurred. I knit, which helped me focus on something besides food, if I was out, I would play candy crush on my phone. Just long enough for the thoughts to pass. The reason this "tool" WLS is so effective, is that it takes your hunger away.
  5. Your doctor gets paid quite well to take your calls! I would definitely call!
  6. My surgeon said it is actually very difficult to stretch. The tissue of the stomach is kind of like a leather purse, after over stuffing it for a while it might stretch slightly, but it takes a lot to make that happen. Drinking either while eating or after is likely to cause you to be able to eat more, but that is because the fluid is pushing the food through the stomach, instead of staying in the stomach.

    Bypass vs. Sleeve

I completely agree wil Cowgirl Jane, it takes work! The WLS, is just a tool and is very helpful, but you still have to be committed to the process!

    Bypass vs. Sleeve

I am 16 months post op from RNY, I eat whatever I want. Small portions.
  9. I think you are ok. I can't imagine being able to chew jello 30 times anyway! Just go slow and be mindful of your eating, you are going to do great!

    Bypass vs. Sleeve

I chose RNY Gastric by-pass because of the number of years it has been around, obviously more is known about it as it is the "gold standard". The second reason was when my doctor discussed the percentages of weight loss of the lap-band, sleeve, and gastric bypass, i knew I only had one shot, and wanted the best possible outcome. I have never had a problem, I went back to work in 5 days (desk job) and never needed a pain pill. Whatever you choose will be great, don't stress about it and commit yourself to following the rules and you will be fine whatever you choose!

    First day home

Find a couple of "go to" distractions. I knit, so in the early days if I thought I was hungry , but wasn't sure, I would knit a couple of rows. If I forgot about it, then I obviously wasn't hungry. The "goal" my doctor set is 5 1/2 hours between meals, meaning I shouldn't be hungry for 5 1/2 hours, I am 16 1/2 months post op, at my goal and still follow this dchedule

    CPap Machine question

I was given a second sleep study 2 months and 40 lbs after surgery, it showed zero incidents and I was able to stop using the cpap.

    Bypass vs. Sleeve

I was a size 20 and am now a 4. I had always been big too! You CAN do this with the aid of this incredible tool! Go you!

    Bypass vs. Sleeve

I agree with cookarue! And because you only have only one shot, why wouldn't you go with the one with the most success? Not a sermon, just a thought! Btw - I reached my goal today 111 lbs in 16 months!

    Goal Reached - now what

Thank you James! That was very helpful. I have never avoided any food, whatsoever, after surgery. I do try to eat protein first then vegetables, then carbs, I will continue to do this!
  16. After 16 months and 18 days I have finally reached my goal weight!!!! I am really happy and excited! Interestingly enough, I have been within 5 pounds of this weight since August and have gained and lost the same pound or two ever since. My question to the group is "What now"? I hadn't really thought about the next phase. Any advice!
  17. I am 16 1/2 months post-op and don't eat that much in a day. I agree with the advice already given, ask yourself if you are really hungry or if it is stress or head hunger. Good for you for identifying that it is a problem and hopefully you will be able to grow from it!

    Vitamin nightmare

I take bariatric advantage chewables. They are fruit flavored.

    Herbalife and Weight Loss

I know it is hard to exercise when you are hurting, but I would try swimming. If it is at all possible. With that being said, my nutritionist said that weight loss for bariatric patients us 90% diet, 10% exercise. Try going back to eating really slowly (1 bite per minute) and not drinking before or after meals and not eating at all after your dinner meal. Keep us posted.
  20. It will slow down soon enough.

    Cravings - Pre versus Post

I crave vegetables, still at 11 1/2 months post op.

    When did you feel "normal"

I never experienced that type of lethargy. I was back to work in a week and was grocery shopping etc, by day 4. You may need more iron or b12. I would check with your doctor.

    When do I stop losing?

My goal was 111 lbs. I am 11 1/2 months post op and I still have 4.6 lbs to go. I keep losing a pound and gaining a pound for the last month. It gets really hard the smaller you get. I am a size 4 and feel pretty good, but I set a goal and I would really like to reach it.

    2 days post op

I would imagine if you add the broth slowly to the powder while whisking it, it should be ok.
  25. I eat everything, but I try to eat small, well chewed bites slowly. My PA recommends 1 bite per minute. It allows your stomach time to tell your brain you are full. It also helps you to stay full for 5 1/2 hours so that you avoid wanting to snack. If you are trying to eat as much as possible, you will never reach your goal. You may need to see a counsellor in order to overcome whatever is getting in your way.
