  1. It isn't too low. I promise, I was between 300-450 calories until I was several months post op.

    Tired

I did not experience this, but it could also be a sign of anemia, or low iron.

    Hydration/Dry Mouth

You can try biotine, it should help.
  4. I am 19 months post-op and I think the calorie goals are very individual, and should be prescribed by your nutritionist. With that said, my nutritionist strongly emphasizes eating small bites for a full 25 minutes, versus prescribing calories. When I pressed her for a number she said between 800 - 1000. I stay within this goal, pretty much religiously. My high weight was 242, I lost 115. Good luck and keep us posted!
  5. So happy for you. Great idea!

    New rny

    I still take laxatives 19 months post-op.

    Dumping Syndrome

Autumn, it is a challenge and I only manage to do this for dinner, as breakfast and lunch is just to hectic and I don't usually have 30 minutes. It does work though, you stay full longer.

    Dumping Syndrome

My doctor said to aim for one bite per minute.

    Pain after surgery

I had very little pain, never took a pain pill and was back at my desk job 4 days after surgery.

    Dumping Syndrome

I am 19 months post op, I eat everything and have never once experienced dumping.
  11. I was frankly shocked at reading some of the responses to your question. My first suggestion is for you to ask your nutritionist as it probably depends on your starting weight. Personally I wasn't eating more than 350-400 calories at 1 month. I was encouraged to exercise the day I came home from the hospital (day 2 post op).

    I have a waist! Lol

That is so exciting! I found that even more important to how I look is actually how I feel! Keep it up, you will reach your goal in no time!

    21 days post-op

That is amazing! Keep it up!

    Birthday drinks?

This too is a contraversial topic, some doctors go so far as to have their patients sign a letter vowing to never drink again. Fortunately, mine didn't! I don't recall a time when I didn't drink alcohol. I try to drink "skinny" drinks and remember your stomach size has changed the way you digest alcohol, do be careful. You will probably not be able to drink as much as you had before without being hammered. Also getting calories from any liquid is not great, so don't go overboard.
  17. I started walking 1/4 mile 2 X per day 4 days post op. I was walking literally a 30 minute mile at first, I gradually increased distance and pace. My goal was (is) 6 days a week, which I rarely reach, but try to anyway. By my 3 week check up I was cleared for all activity.
  18. I have had coffee since day 1. I use unsweetened vanilla almond milk.

Status at 5 mos post gp

I was down 78 lbs of 112 at 5 months.
  20. I mean struggling as in I'm not putting much effort into eating them lol I ate broccoli tonight & it haa been a success. I need to eat more to help with the bowels I think. I hate relying on medications.
  21. Are you struggling with digesting vegetables? I didn't have this problem, but some people do.
  22. I have a desk job and was back to work in 4 days. The benefit of retail though is that you can schedule half days if you need to. I was not tired after surgery, but a lot of people are.
  23. My doctor did not believe in Protein shakes (or any liquid calories) past week 2, nor did he prescribe any puréed foods whatsoever. So, since week 7 I have eaten absolutely everything I have wanted to eat. At each meal I eat protein first, fruit and vegetables second and carbs third. This way there is less room for carbs. Ironically, I crave vegetables more than anything. I do eat sweets in moderation, typically only 1 or 2 small bites. I achieved my goal weight in 16 months. Good luck

    Prep Work Before Surgery

I did absolutely no prep besides the couple of days of clear liquid.

    Returning to work

I was 240 and scheduled a week, but went back in 4 days, I was 45 when I had my surgery. My doctor does not believe in pain meds. Honestly, the hardest part was getting the flow of drinking and eating.
