What's everyone eating?
aelovelady replied to LosinginTX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 months post op, I eat half of a Jimmy Deans Delight honey wheat English muffin with bacon, egg and cheese for breakfast 105 calories. 9 or 10 grs of protein. Or packet of grits, Quaker oats. I usually eat s 250 calorie or less lean cuisine for lunch some of these have as many as 20 grams of protein. And my dinner is whatever I would normally feed my family, just small portions. -
My surgeon does not recommend protein shakes at all, nor any liquid with calories. He said you do better with protein from food. I think your weight loss is great! If you want to improve, you should exercise, at least cardio of some kind. I do an incline walk and burn 800 calories in 45 minutes. I am 5 months post op now, but I did start exercising the day I came home from the hospital.

Day 6 post op and hunger is starting
aelovelady replied to innwtitdtity's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told not to chew gum. I think it triggers hunger. Sugar free Popsicles are good and I also find that a cup of hot tea helps. -

I am 5 months and have lost 72% -
Exercise is the only thing I csn suggest. I am 5 months post op tomorrow, have lost 78lbs and definitely have some sagging, I have been really good with cardio and am now starting a weight/resistance program to help alleviate the sagging. I refuse to have skin removal surgery. Good luck!

How many calories?
aelovelady replied to 2bullymom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also told not to worry about calories also, but I know that I was at about 300-350 for the first couple weeks, then 400-600 for the next several weeks, now at 5 months I try to not go over 800 -

I would not think this is surgery related, but you should go to the doctor. It could be shingles, chicken pox or something

this is dumb but my biggest question is...

They will give you ice, water, broth and jello in the hospital. -

aelovelady replied to Katie Loesch-Meyer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is an app called Bariatric Timer. I use that pretty religiously. If I sm eating something spicy, I take 1 or 2 tiny sips, other than that, I adapted. You do have to make sure that you are using the rest of the time in getting your water intake. So it is really feast or famine with fluids! Good luck -

No weightloss since first week and 1/2
aelovelady replied to Rhines's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Plateaus are normal, but my advice to anyone going through one is to get moving. Walk a little further a little faster each day. It has always helped to kick my body into gear. Please don't give up and remember this battle is mostly in your mind. Keep positive, stay focused and track everything! -
Birth control post op
aelovelady replied to AC274132's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just started depo, but not for birth control. After I got the shot, I read up on the side effects and the weight gain is really a potential problem. I am going to do the implant as soon as this shot wears off. -
Ready to Stop Crushing
aelovelady replied to willyumyum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon never required crushing at all and I take a couple of pretty large pills. -

Letting go of my armour
aelovelady replied to jackie's journey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it is great that you are so in tune to your feelings, but maybe you should see a therapist trained in eating issues to help you get through these feelings. You should look forward to buying new things and showing off your success! Good luck to you! -
Congrats! I just gave about 50 dresses to a friend who had RNY, I know she will only be in them for a while but she will pass them on!
-
I take home lots of left overs. Or order appetizers.

Dinner - what do you eat?
aelovelady replied to jackie's journey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been on totally solid food since week 7 and have been specifically forbidden from mushy or liquid with any calories at all. I am not sure why some doctors differ with there programs, but solid food has helped me maintain fullness. I usually cook for my family and have whatever they eat, just smaller portions with small bites! Good luck! -
When will it get better?
aelovelady replied to newlanashegog's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All I can say is it gets better, keep doing what your supposed to. Eat slowly, small amounts at a time. Walk or exercise as much as you can and drink plenty of water! Good luck and keep us posted!
