    Staples

I don't think there should be any staples that need removing. I certainly didn't have any. My first post-op was also 3 weeks after surgery,

You won't be able to lift more than 10 lbs for at least 3 weeks!

    Lady question...

I think the surgery really screws up your body chemistry. It will take a couple of months to settle down. Also, my surgeon recommends using a second form of Birth control as you are more likely to conceive during this time.
  10. I struggle with this too! I have a hard time looking at myself and really getting a sense of how big I am. I am 6 1/2 months out and have lost 89 lbs. I went from an 18/20 to an 8, but still sometimes look at clothes and think, "there is no way I will fit in those". Yet I do.

    Need advice:

There is s huge difference in the expected weight loss between bypass and sleeve. The weight loss is much higher with the bypass. Also, as someone else mentioned, it is the surgery that is the gold standard and the most is known about it. Good luck!
  12. I wouldn't be drinking any protein shakes. You should be getting all of your protein from solid food at this point.

    Hello! New here :)

You must be really tall cause you don't look anywhere close to 199. Great job!!
  14. You will definitely be treated better. You will find your voice and people will hear it.

    Not noticing weight loss?

I think it really depends on your presurgery weight. 30 lbs is a lot of weight, no matter, but if you are 300lbs it won't be as noticeable as if you were 250 or 200. Also, you see yourself every day, which usually means you are not going to notice those differences as much as someone who sees you infrequently.

    Nothing tastes good anymore!

    It will get better.

    Thirsty all the time

I did not experience this, but you can try Biotene, it is supposed to help with that.

    6 weeks food.

I was able to eat everything after week 6. The only thing that occasionally gives me trouble is pulled beef.

    Help. I gained a pound

I am not a dietician or nutritionist, but my nutritionist does not allow protein shakes after 2 weeks. They feel that the calorie content is to high for the protein benefit and that you should not be drinking calories. Liquid seeps through the stomach and does not provide long term fullness, desired by this surgery. Just a thought, you may want to try eating high protein foods over drinking protein drinks. Good luck and keep up posted!

    Am I losing enough weight?

I think 5 lbs a week is pretty good!
  22. aelovelady

    Protien Bars

No! My surgeon insists that protein should come from regular food. I was only allowed 12 oz of protein drink a day for the first two weeks while I was on a mostly liquid and soft food diet.

    Protien shakes

I was told not to drink any calories whatsoever after 2 weeks.

    What is pb2?

It is a powdered peanutbutter that you mix with water. It is lower in calories and tastes pretty good.

Stalled? or is my body just freaking out?

I don't think weighing every day is a good idea. I weigh twice a week, but will eventually go to once a week. There are too many variables at play with your weight and you can easily become discouraged, by not seeing progress. Twice a week will give you s few days of accumulated loss to show. Good luck and keep with the plan and you will be fine!
