  1. I bought all kinds of crap, pjs, bathrobe, slippers, books, magazines etc. didn't use a thing except for my bathrobe, when I went hall walking. Total waste of money.

Jack links jerky bites post op

I would wait until 8 weeks post op, but my nutritionist does recommend small portions of jerky because of the high protein. She also recommends light baby bell.
  3. I had the same concerns, it is based on your weight at your initial consultation.
  4. You shouldn't be in ICU, unless there is something wrong.

    2 weeks post op

Congratulations! You are doing great. I am 7 months out and can't believe how fast time has flown!

    Protein Shakes

It's an indivdual doctors preference, but I haven't used protein powder since 2 weeks post-op.

    Making Protein Shakes Last

I was forbidden from protein shakes, or and liquid calories for that matter, from 2 weeks postoperative.
  8. I wasn't allowed to eat chicken until week 6, I was also consuming less than 400 calories until about that time. I would seriously consult with your doctor prior to eating another bite of meat.

    Blahhh

I promise it will get better, move as much as possible, only use the medication when absolutely necessary, and TRY to get water and protein. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Good luck!

    Need advice:

The reason I chose bypass (RNY) was the estimated weight loss was 10-15% higher than the sleeve, as well as it being by far, the most practiced surgery. Obviously, as more and more people have the surgery over the last 20 or so years, the more they know about it and what works and what doesn't. I didn't want the band as I don't want to have the constant follow up- I am 7 months post-op with 93 lbs lost, I would like to lose between 10 and 18 more pounds! Good luck!

    Alcohol

I was never advised not to drink alcohol, just to avoid beer and other carbonated beverages.
  12. Your post op blood work and blood pressure results will determine all of that.

    Alcohol

I drink and have pretty much since right after surgery. Beer bothers me now, which sucks cause I love beer, but I drink low cal drinks whenever possible, I was never advised against it.
  14. I weigh twice a week on Fridays and Mondays. I think weighing every day would not be good for me mentally, focusing on the numbers too much. I hope to get to once a week as I get closer to my goal weight (21 more lbs)

How long on on puréed food?

My doctor did not use puréed food at all
  16. I tell anyone that will listen that I had surgery AND that it is still a lot of work! B

How long on on puréed food?

My surgeon did not use puréed foods at all. We were on varying degrees of soft food gradually adding foods until week 7 when we could eat everything

    Drainage catheter

I never had any catheter, drainage or otherwise, that I was aware of. I never had to have anything removed after surgery
  19. I eat a perfectly normal dinner of whatever I would normally feed my family. I have 1/2 of a jimmy deans delight sandwich for breakfast (high protein), a lean cuisine meal for lunch (15 - 20 gr protein) and a normal dinner. Last night I made beef and broccoli in the crock pot and had that with rice. Remember to take an entire 25 minutes to eat each meal and do not drink before and after and you should stay full for 5 1/2 hours.

    Need an uplifting

It does get better! Keep doing the right things and you should get better each day!

    Lady question...

My surgeon warned me about this side effect, he said you will either not get a cycle at all or you will have it right away

    Protein shakes vs. food

I was forbidden from protein drinks after the first two weeks. Protein drinks do not stay in your stomach long enough to keep you full for 5 hours.
  23. you may be either eating too fast or drinking too close to meals (before and after). You should try to take 1 bite per minute, using a full 25 minutes to eat. This should keep you full for 5 1/2 hours. Snacking is not recommended. Also, you shouldn't be drinking your calories, but getting them from solid food. My surgeon forbids protein drinks after the first two weeks post-op. Just some thoughts as to why you may be experiencing this. Good luck and keep us posted!
