Exercise

I agree that walking is probably the best. I have noticed the heavier I've gotten over the past 2 years, the worse it has gotten. I guess I will have to invest in an ice machine and a few more heating pads and just man up and do it and get this weight off!!

i like to use body fortress vanilla with 1 cup of frozen fruit and 1.5 cups of almond milk to make a smoothie
6. I will be so happy to see my fat toes go bye bye. when i was smaller i wore a 10-10.5 D shoe. Now I wear a 12 EEEEEE shoe!!! And I so long to see a pair of blue jeans that the first number of the waist size is a 3.... not a 4 or 5!!!
7. this has been a really good thread to read with all the different viewpoints. Just a quick story about fitness equipment at home. 3 1/2 years ago, I had open heart surgery. it was a wake up call for getting into shape. So after doing cardiac rehab for 6 months, I invested in a elliptical that I so dearly loved riding. Bought a really nice on like they had at cardiac rehab.......for $7500. I kid you not.....I used it for maybe 6 or 7 times. I slipped off it one day and broke my foot and never got on it again. Last month, I sold it for $4700 and that's how paid to have my sleeve done and for all my other expenses to get to Mexico.
8. I am having my surgery on October 30. I am looking for some support buddies who will be having surgery about the same time that I am. I am single, my kids are grown and I have no support to back me up. THANKS for the future help friends!!!!

When you can't even be honest with yourself

@ Kindle.....very well said!!!
10. 10 days and wake up and its surgery time!! Today I learned when I made a post.....try not to include the word "YOU"......as some people think that the individual posting a comment is directly attacking them.

Hope all goes well! Let us know how it went.

11. @vsgcrystalg........I don't remember specifically mentioning YOUR name in a post....or CALLING YOU OUT!!!! I was merely stating MY opinion and MY thoughts about whether or not to tell the truth about whether you had WLS or not. I wasn't intending to TARGET you or anyone else for that matter. My point was simply WHY LIE ABOUT IT?? However, IF you so choose to take it that way....FINE!!! I am NOT one to judge you or anyone else on this website cuz I don't live in a glass house.

Shopping List Needed

@PAR1959.......what exactly do you eat to get your 60 grams of Protein in real food??
13. Packerfan61964

Read me.

and she forgot all about poor Bennie
14. @VSGAnn2014......why shake your head?? Is it ok to lie about anything?? Why lie about it?? If someone asks you and you don't wanna tell them.........tell them it is none of their business........a person is under NO obligation to tell anything to anyone......but why lie?? I guess it about morales, values, and character. I was taught NOT to lie, regardless how big or little it was.

When you can't even be honest with yourself

@@FairySleeve, bottom line is that YOU are losing the weight by YOURSELF.....the WLS was just a tool. Just like people who use the gum, medication or patches to quit smoking. I smoked for almost 30 years 1-3 packs a day and I quit COLD TURKEY!!! Do I knock people who have to use the gum, patches or prescription drugs to quit....NO....I am just glad for them that they quit. Don't let you sister in law belittle your acomplishments!!!

When you can't even be honest with yourself

@ B-52.......how much weight did you lose if you don't mind me asking????
17. True that you are under NO obligation to tell anyone your personal business. But what I don't understand is why lie about it???? If someone would lie about WLS what else would they lie about?? It makes that personlose character and seem less creditable. Is this person ashamed of having WLS?? Honestly, myself, I am more ashamed of letting myself go and getting myself into this position than stepping up to the plate and doing something about it There's alot of reasons why people become overweight. Medication.....depression for starters..... food is an addiction just like drugs, cigarettes, gambling and alcohol. I have beaten 4 out of the 5. I've been obese for 20 yrs....I've tried EVERY diet in the book and haven't been successful for very long. Research has proven that only 5% of people who lose any substantial amount of weight will gain it back in time. Hell, even if someone has WLS, they can gain it back in time!!!

11days out and not sure what the heck I'm doing!

If you have having issues with your Protein.....change brands. I use New whey liquid Protein that has 42 g of protein per 3.8 oz. It comes in many different flavors. I mix it with crystal light or sugar free kool aid and practice sipping on it all day long. Then I have 2 Protein shakes a day.......so I am getting 94 g of protein a day. There is also a unflavored Protein powder that has 30 g of protein per tablespoon and you can put that in your soups.

Help with this 3 week pre-op diet?

I would so stay away from the Protein bars....alot of extra calories and carbs. Burning more calories than you consume is the key to weight loss......not just eating healthy foods. Keep burning up those calories!!!!
20. @@Crha, you may wanna look into Specialized Bariatrics , Mexico Bariatric Center, or Alighterme. All companies in the U.S. Their price ranges from $3900-$4500 US

When you can't even be honest with yourself

The thing about it is.....people that have known me for a really long time are gonna know that I had WLS or they're totally stupid. For me.....I have been fat for 20 years and now all of a sudden at 50 yrs old ...Im gonna lose at ton of weight......all by myself.......on my own......YEAH RIGHT!! I don't feel the need to justify it to anyone....Its my money and my body.
22. it's basically what you prefer to do. I know for me, going to the gym is a better option because he makes me accountable. I know if I pay the $40 for the gym membership, that I will go because I just cant afford to throw away the money. And plus, the gym offers more equipment than most people have at home.
23. I am flying out of Dallas on 10/29 to go to Tijuana to have my surgery. I am not worried about it!!

I didnt get fat because my mom and dad divorced when I was 13 and I felt guilty.....or some other traumatic or dramatic event in my life...... I got fat because I quit exercising and love to eat !!!!!!
