  1. My taste buds certainly changed after surgery. Just the smell of warmed up broth made me wanna puke. When I get the head hunger......I fix myself of cup of either orange and spice or apple and spice tea and my head hunger is gone. Good luck to you!!!
  2. I've never had a pacemaker put in but I did have a double bypass a few years ago. The only thing that I would do in the gym is get on the treadmill and walk. Congrats on not gaining any weight while you were sick!!! That itself is such an awesome feat!!! I would follow your doctor's orders....and as far as kicking back up on the right diet.....I would start out with soft foods that are high in protein!!! GOOD LUCK on your recovery!!! my prayers are with you!!!

    Protein Source

15 grams of Protein is a little on the low side when there are so many more out there that have 20-30 grams per scoop. But ultimately, it boils down to your tastes and what your sleeve can handle. GOOD LUCK!!!!

I would like to hear your Sleeve story.

Casey, I am almost 4 weeks post-op and doing great. I went to Mexico to have my surgery and the only issue I had was that the anesthesia that they used made me nauseated for about 24-30 hrs. 48 hours post surgery, I went walking in Tijuana and logged 5.2 miles and even went to the casino and gambled away a few pesos. The next day, I went with another group shopping and walked another 4.6 miles. I have lost 41 total and gone a size in my jeans. Eating and drinking too fast is still an issue for me.......I am trying to slow down and take it easy.

    Carbs- bread, pasta, rice, etc...

I cannot tolerate bread crackers rice or pasta......but i have no issues with mashed potatoes, oatmeal, cream of wheat or grits.

    Help! I'm Hungry!

i used protein powder and made my shakes thicker so I could use a spoon and eat it instead of drinking it and it helped with my hunger issues
  7. WOW!!!! I didnt have insurance and went to Mexico and had it done for $4300.
  8. what kind of Protein shakes are you trying?? if you cant tolerate one kind....try another kind. There are so many different kinds out there. powder, liquids, gels, pre-mixed ones are the nastiest in my opinion. you can also add frozen fruit to mask the chalky taste. GOOD LUCK!!!

    Protein powder help

I know things are different for men than women but I got a list of HIGH Protein foods and I have incorporated them into my diet. I have no problems getting 70-80 grams of protein in 3 meals plus I have 2 Protein shakes for a snack in the afternoon and one at night.....so my protein intake is about 100-110 grams per day.

2 months post op - Lessons learned

I cant tolerate bread or rice. I've tried them both twice and everytime, I have thrown it up within 10 minutes. I have no issues with mashed potatoes, oatmeal or cream of wheat.

@ haleytrim.......All I am doing at the gym is walking on the treadmill and working out on the elliptical machine. My doctor told me to wait 8 weeks before I start lifting any weights. Thank you all for the kind words.....they keep me movitated!!!

    Diabetes

I too am diabetic ( for over 20 yrs) and before surgery I was taking a ton of insulin.(about 2 bottles a week) #1 you are NOT going to get rid of diabetes because it is an incurable disease.......you are gonna CONTROL it !!! Since surgery, I have only taken 1 shot. My 14 day average is 118......which is wonderful news to me. But on the flip side.....I am only having liquids and not getting in alot of carbs. But on the other flip side.....you CANNOT overeat!!! 1 cup of broth and I am full!! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!!
  17. TWO more pounds to go and I will be in Twoville !!!!

    Shakes long term?

Bobbyswife.......that's what I intend on doing?? There are so many ways to dress up a Protein shake just like there is many ways to dress up ground beef. There are so many different brands and flavors of protein. They do not all taste alike......so try some different ones every other week or so. Here is my thinking.........why rush back in to food?? What got a person to being in the boat that they are in to have to go through WLS......food!?!?!? Thats just my thought....my opinion.

    Initial weightloss

@AlanaRN....I feel really good!! No real issues since surgery. I was very nauseous( from the anestesia) for about the first 36 hours and threw up several times. im walking 3-5000 steps every day, not trying to overdo it and trying to get my liquids down.
  24. Packerfan61964

    Initial weightloss

I've lost 9 lbs in 5 days since surgery and I lost 13 on the 2 week pre-op diet for 22 lbs total. I am pretty pleased with that!!! ANY weight lost is a POSITIVE not a NEGATIVE!!!!! just remember.....you didnt gain all this weight overnight and you are not going to lose it overnight........the WLS is just a tool to help you lose it. Honestly, I would rather lose it losely because losing it slowing, you can prevent alot of the sagging skin issue. CHIN UP AND GOOD LUCK!!!!!!
