Hi my name is Lost1. I started the Gastric Bypass journey only one month ago. Things have moved rather quickly for me. Some would say I am lucky. I would say it's making me more nervous. My insurance has put up no real fight. I didn't require a 6 month supervised weight loss /diet plan. Nor was I required to have a psychiatric assessment. However, my doctor Ihor Fedorak required a assessment by a local counseling office and a ultra-sound for possible gallbladder issues. In 4 short weeks, I have met with my NUT, a psychologist, a doctor who conducted my ultrasound, my own personal therapist for a referral letter and of course attended a 3 hour class. Things are at a stand still now. My assessment results are being faxed over to my doctor in the next few days, my gallbladder has one big stone (1 1/2 inch) present so it will be removed during surgery. Everything else is in order. I have to have my co-pay amount at the time of surgery. Which is $350 dollars which again from reading all your stories I am very, very lucky. My surgeon is running appointments into November and December. They're thinking my surgery will take place later next month. Around the 20th. I am very excited and yet very nervous. The 10 days before surgery eating barely nothing is going to make me feel very sick. I am diabetic and am not looking forward to that. But, I am on the cheery side and feel ready. Thanks to everyone who post their stories and their questions on this site, this has been my "run to" site when I know I can't call my doctor @ 3:00 am. I appreciate your honesty and your experiences. They have been very helpful to me. <3

Hi there, I am having surgery on Nov 24th. I was just wondering if anyone in Colorado is getting sleeved this month? I was originally having gastric bypass but my doctor encouraged me to get sleeved. So here I am.. Getting nervous... Days are flying by.

I reside in Colorado Springs, Co.. Does anyone share the same state as me? If so, do you know any great support groups near us that are awesome? I know of 2.. Maybe we can share ideas. I only ask so I can build up my support system. There is something to be said for people being local. Thanks!

They roll you in on a bed that lifts up. Then you slide onto the operation table with the assistance of nurses. -

I got married on 11/11 @ 11:11 am. That is also my favorite day! -
Hi there, I am sure everyone of you that made this choice had a reason. Maybe your doctor choose, maybe you did.. I want to know why you chose the Sleeve over Gastric Bypass. My doctor won't make the choice for me.. I have asked what his medical opinion is and he just shakes his head and states that it's up to me. He thinks I am bordering both procedures. I need to make up my mind before it's submitted to insurance. They're waiting for me now. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you!

So do I. There are other medicines I can "try" but none have worked so far.

I don't like the idea of having my intestines rerouted. I don't like the thought of "dumping" or with not being able to take certain meds anymore. I am very fearful of needing something later in life like ulcer erosion. However, I know this is a tool not the whole picture is placed on having the sx. With Sleeve I don't like the fact that it can make GERD worse .Some say it doesn't work as great as gastric bypass. I am not sure about that.. Not enough research done on my part to analyze that topic. I am diabetic, high blood pressure, knee and back issues & sleep apnea. I do. I have a friend who had the sleeve and she loves hers.

Thank you WildGoose for your input. I too agree this is life changing. I only have one shot per my insurance so I need to choose wisely. Your "wording" made perfect sense to me. I appreciate you very much!

I appreciate your post very much. Thank you! I am still torn, but I am sure I will make the right choice for me.
