  1. Hi everyone, My evaluation was submitted to my surgeon today. The doctor's office called me to schedule my surgery for later THIS month. I was told originally that it would be late next month.. They were shooting for Nov 20th. Now they want to complete the surgery for later this month. Shooting for the 30th of October.. Reality just sunk in and all the sudden I don't feel ready. Is it wrong to schedule a "cheating" day by having a "last meal" before my surgery date? Do many people do this? I know and understand I will be able to eat again, I just want one last meal.. What are your thoughts?

    Emotional Mess

SandyS, You are NOT crazy at all. I too am scared. My original date was set for November 20th. Now, my doctors are shooting for later this month. My doctor is trying to plan his vacation and scheduling everyone he can early that already has insurance confirmation. I am very nervous. I haven't been thin since childhood. I have major fears of my friends and family not accepting the new me. I am glad you're on here. The support in this group is awesome. When do you start your pre-op surgery diet? What does it look like?

I think Beni was saying there is a waiting list in Canada. Not in VA. But, Beni thinks they should go get a gallbladder ultrasound.

How long is the wait in Canada for a gallbladder ultrasound? I don't think (in my personal opinion) you should wait 2 years for that.. I lived in Upstate NY and they saw a lot of people from Canada at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Mine too.. I have nausea too.. Do you?
  8. Sorry for the confusion. I meant I have to do the pre-op diet for 10 days, should I do it before I start that OR should I do it a few days before surgery? That way I am getting a great break from the 10 days of pre-op diet.. Thanks again for answering. I appreciate you very much.
  9. Thank you so much for your kind words. I am awfully scared now.. :/ I think I will plan my last dinner. Should I do it right before sx or before I start my liquid pre-sx diet?

Hi Beni, I do consider myself very, very lucky. I didn't know I was having symptoms until the doctor told me what my symptoms were. Like, when I lay on mm stomach it's almost like I can't breathe. Stuff like that. Do you have symptoms? I have very few but my gallstone is still there however. :/

    Psych appointment help

I took a verbal exam and two test. One had 380 questions the second had half of that. Some are simple like "Do you want to be a sports reporter?" Others seem a little tricky like "Do you get along with your mother and father?". OR "Is it easy for you to make difficult decisions?" Stuff like that.. I got my results via telephone about an hour ago. One of my results read they thought I was being slightly deceptive due to not answering the same as 100 people. However, I thought I was pretty darn honest. Let me know how you do! I am excited to hear about the new you!! Good luck!
  14. Good luck tomorrow. You will be in my thoughts tomorrow..
  15. Welcome Big Dude. I am glad to see I won't be alone in November. I should be right behind you if all goes well. What do you find you're most nervous about? Congrats on the weight loss. That's a great acheivement. Good luck with your surgery. If you need anyone to talk to the forum is here..

    Just one more time

I too am nervous. I am both afraid it won't work for me and that it will. Confusing right? I guess, I am so used to failure that it's second nature for me to go that route. Don't get me wrong I will be so excited to lose 100+ lbs. I am ready for the hard work and willing to put it all in. I wish you the best luck with your surgery! What is your surgery date? I am so happy for you!

    November Surgery Date

I am having surgery in November too. I have to say I am not looking forward to the pre-op diet. I know it's a necessity but being type 1 diabetic it's going to be hard! I am looking forward to the support on here though. I find this to be a peaceful place to go to when I have questions and concerns. Thanks guys!

    Dr. Ihor Fedorak - Recommend

He is my current surgeon. I find him to have the best bed side manner ever. He is very professional. He understands this is a life long journey and he is prepared to be there for as long as you need him. I adore this guy and his staff.

  21. Did it improve with medication? Or just on it's own?

    Meds.

That's very interesting about time release meds. Both my medical doctor and my surgeon have approved my time release meds. I will clarify again, but my team of doctors (4) have all approved them.
