    Hi from Ireland!

Hey folks - its a long time since I've posted here, but I guess its the time of year when weight loss is the hot topic. My band has basically been redundant the past few years- I lost weight myself through diet and exercise but its crept back on plus some extra. I need to take some action with my band, one way or another. Be great if we could bring this thread back to life...and to see some of the old faces again and hear their stories !

    Hi from Ireland!

Sorry 2 hear that Shannon .....its a bummer  I could'nt get a fill this week because my port has flipped , and apparently i need corrective surgery to get it back in position. Talk about a money making racket ......but she says that if i need an emergency de-fill , they wont be able to do it .....so that makes the decision easier  Hope u get sorted out soon Shannon

    Hi from Ireland!

Hey Guys, Hope u's are all well. Brenners, glad to hear the surgery went ok and here's hoping those pains ease soon. I think the band has educated us in lots of ways......... things like chewing, eating slower, smaller portions etc will stand you in good stead. I'm back at my slimming club and have shed 7lbs in the past couple of weeks. Thats the most I've lost in ages, so hopefully the scales will be kind to me again at weigh in tomorrow. Good luck to all !!

    Hi from Ireland!

Hey Guys ........hope everyone's doing well . Brenners,I have my fingers crossed that things went well for you with the doc on Wednesday !! I sent off a pile of e-mails today, to see if i could get an after care package organised, and have my band reviewed. Little did I think I'd have to shell out more money after the 10k to ACS , but thats life i guess !!:sifone: Good luck to all !!

    Hi from Ireland!

Lil and Kila .......thanks SO much for the info. I get so annoyed with myself when i think of the amount of money I shelled out for this band, and I have only myself to blame for continuing to eat all the crap:angry: In any case, the time for action is NOW, and I 'll defo get moving on contacting them and organising a review/fill. Lil ....sounds like you've had a tough time of it lately, fingers crossed everything will turn out ok for you:thumbup: I haven't spoken to Maggi or Julie in ages - they were over again last Summer , but did'nt get to meet up with them. Maybe my liver would'nt have been up 2 it :smile2::biggrin: Good luck to all !!!

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi guys, I was banded with ACS in 2007. I lost about 4st initially but I've been at a full stop as regards weight loss for well over a year , despite still having some restriction. I've been in contact with a few private hospitals but they dont seem to want to know you, if they haven't done the op themselves. I still need to lose at least 5st. Can anyone recommend where i could go to, to have the band reviewed and possibly get a fill. Many thanks guys and continued success to all!

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi sotired, I was waiting 2 years for an appointment in Loughlinstown. This was even after 2 letters from my GP and a begging letter that I wrote myself! I went ahead and had the surgery with ACS last April and low and behold I got a letter from them a couple of weeks ago to say that I had been accepted ! ...Murphys law!!!!!!

    Hi from Ireland!

    Hi from Ireland!

Hey Coco, They are certainly words of wisdom.....and a good reference point......I've gone a bit off the rails since my de-fill. Never thought I'd miss that feeling of restriction so much. Once you get back tasting those forbidden foods in bigger volumes its difficult to back-pedal......appointment for fill will be made asap! Good luck to all!

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi Marge, I'm only on here the last couple of days........dont know how much help I can really be......I had the gastric band in April......I dont know of anyone that's had it done with the new surgeon! My only advise would be to do ALL your homework.....research is key!!!!!!!The consultation is free.....go prepared..theres a list of questions on the earlier pages.......How about speaking to your GP first? Be sure to ask about AFTERCARE also......thats a bit of a taboo subject at the mo!

    Hi from Ireland!

Hey Coco, Thanks for info......I'm glad I've found this site! Apparently my band is empty.......my maths is bad God knows, but only 3mls was taken out, and according to my calculations I should have had about 6mls in there! I did'nt ask the questions that I should have because I was so relieved to be able to keep fluids down again. Im supposed to be on semi-solids now but I did sneak a couple of mashed chips tonight and I feel a restriction..........Maybe ignorance is bliss! How u doin?

    Hi from Ireland!

Hey Guys, I'm new to the site..........finding it hard to navigate being the technophobe that I am!! I was banded with ACS in April this year.......all went well until last weekend.......had a fill on Fri.......then talk about sickkkkk on Sat.......overfill.......be warned.....its NOT pleasant! To cut a very long story short.....my band is now empty. Dont know whether this is good or bad but at least no more pain or puking!! Anyone had similar experiences?

    Grief and the lapband

Hey Josette, I'm new to this site...... I can identify with your situation .......my mam died just last year and I've found it very difficult to cope with! Its ironic that I had my lapband op after she died......I'm not quite sure that she'd have approved, but I know she always wanted me to lose weight for my own sake! Last Christmas was my first year without her.......there's no denying that its terribly hard to get through such a special day with only memories of a person you held so dear.......but you can do it! I'm sure she would want you to enjoy the holidays........ Drop me a mail anytime and chin up...... Emerald
