2bslimsherri posted a topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hi. I am considering plastic surgery. Does anyone have any suggestions or info about who is good for surgery after massive weight loss? I would love recommendations. Thanks. -

Were you banded at TLBC? (Toronto Lap-Band Centre) - pre 2008

If there is a spot where old TLBC patients are meeting to discuss potential courses of action and what they are doing for support? -

I was banded at TLBC and I remember freaking out when they changed their name to Slimband. I was banded by Dr. Yau. I was told I am his patient and not slimbands so they will not support me even for pay. What are the TLBC lifer's who now have no support going to do? I am really worried and think I might have a slip. I am afraid to go to the doctor since if they defill the band I might never be able to get it filled again. -
Lap Band Overfilled Or Just Swollen?
2bslimsherri replied to glowormvl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am usually O.K. for a day or two and then seem to swell up. Everyone is different. You may be overfilled. I believe not being able to keep liquids down is a red flag though. -
How to deal with not so positive people...
2bslimsherri replied to Buggie1369's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I chose not to tell anyone for this very reason. The only people who know are my husband and children.. I also don't have to deal with people watching everything that goes into my mouth and how much I loose......whAT i experience is people applauding my loss. I still have a long way to goal but am down almost 100 pounds and am 3 years out. Still on the journey....I'\m a slow looser. The thing is it's my journey at my own rate and I am glad I didn't tell anyone and have no one to answer to. Goood luck. -
Surgery December 8th Soooo Nervous Please help!
2bslimsherri replied to nicolerose's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Congrats! You are young and even if you loose more weight you may not have as much extra skin as you did the first time. I know you don't want to hear it but you can always have a revision later just to remove any additional skin. Just eat healthy and exercise as you continue to loose after surgery and hopefully you won't have any issues. I think you will feel fantastic and your whole life will be different. Even if you don't have perfect results I think you will love your new body and have such confidence. Enjoy and good luck! I wish I had done it at your age. -
Hi all, I am deffiately a slow looser. It has taken me one and a half years but I have finally hit onederland. I can't believe the end is in site. Even though I still have between fourty and sixty pounds to loose I feel really successful. I haven't been at this weight in almost twenty-five years. Wow. The band is the best thing I ever did. Looking for a Greater Toronto Area Plastic Surgeon
2bslimsherri posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi all, I have finally hit onederland and see the end in site. I think it is time to find a plastic surgeon in the Greater Toronto Area. I am looking for suggestions and information about your experiences and results. I would also appreciate how you went about finding a surgeon who was good and experienced with those who have lost a lot of weight. Tips on questions to ask, what to look for, etc. would also be appreciated. Sherri -
Hi all, Talking about loosing slow........I am the poster child. I have finally hit the 100+ mark for weight loss and am finally in onederland for the first time in 20+ years. It only took 2 years. Now I need to keep going and finish the job.

Have ALL the Dec 2007 bandsters disappeared????
2bslimsherri replied to christasha's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi fellow Dec 07 bandsters, I have not been lurking around much but decided to drop in and check in. I am at the 95lb. mark now and approaching onederland for the first time in I don't remember how long. I certainly have not been there in 20+ years. It is good to see everyone progressing along and I am glad to know I am not the only slow looser. Not really glad others have the slow battle to fight, just that I am not abnormal. I too loose and then hit a plateau. I seem to be at one now and wonder if I will ever loose again. Happy loosing -

Susieq321 I just wanted to pass on my condolences on the passing of your father. Just hang in there. it does get easier although grieving takes time and has to run its course. Be stong. you have been a real role model for me. I have been following your posts on the forums and you were pivitol in my origial decision to get the band (best decision of my life). I am sure he was really proud of you and it sounds like he was the type of man who was a great role model for us all. I am sure you have a lot of his characteristics in you. -
Personally I did not feel it was anyone's business. I am glad I did not and do not have to deal with the judgements, comments, etc. I only told my husband and 2 children since they live with me. I did my surgery when I had 6 days off work. If I did need extra time I would have called in sick. (this was a part time teaching position) for my main job I am self employed and work at home. I just took it very easy and did not do too much work for about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks. I found that my part time job tired me. I did not feel back to normal for at least a month. For people I had to tell I was having surgery I just said I was having a hiatus hernia fixed and really didn't want people to know so please keep it quiet. It worked really well and explains the surgery scars, etc. I do not regret my decision not to tell and it really isn't anyones business. You must do what you are comfortable with.

11 Months! Wahoo! Give us #'s
2bslimsherri replied to christasha's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi all my fellow Merry Bandsters. I don't oftern post but I do drop by to keep up on what is happening to my fellow bandmates. I am down almost 60 pounds now and this is the most I have ever lost (previously my largest weight loss was 25 pounds). My progress seems to be pretty stalled and I have been struggling with the 1/4 lbs since last May. I will be going in a couple of weeks for a fill to help kick start my weight loss since I think I have either been challenging my band or am too loose. Due to work deadlines, children and a sick dad in the hospital I don't think I can make it to the clinic until next week. I see all your success and am amazed. I often get motivated by the support and success I read on these forums. Thank you! I hope we keep this tread going even if it is only a few. I hope for our year anniversary I can post that I have broken the next decade. -
2009 - New York City Banded Together-Lapband Talk National Event
2bslimsherri replied to CoachCher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I vote for NYC. I cannot yet commit due to work committments but if I must travel and spend the $$$ I would like to be in an exciting venue like NYC. -
Hi Lachica, I too seem to have stalled on the weight loss front. I think it has been about 3 months since I have lost weight. I have problems eating during the day and usually have my main meal in the p.m. (not good) The later the better. I also find a glass of wine opens me up and allows me to get the food down. sometimes I am fine but I often throw up if I eat solids before 2 or 3 pm. Let me know what the dotor said.

2bslimsherri replied to Buffie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Doddie, I have been thinking of you and am glad to hear your surgery went well. Did they have to put you out or did they give you a local? Hopefully that is the end of complicaitons. Sherri -

Good luck all. Doddie, how did you get Dr. Yau to finally agree to fix your port? -
Is anyone planning a GTA lapband lunch any time in June? I have really wanted to attend one but due to other committments have not been able to. Do they happen monthly?

Hi all. It's nice to see a site for us of the Hebrew persuasion. Any other Jew's in the Greater Toronto Area?

Anyone else out there who celebrates Passover? I am pretty nurvous since I usually begin my day with a Protein shake (not Kosher for passover) and cannot usually manage solids first thing in the a.m. I went for nutritional counselling at my clinic but they really don't get it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have an additional challenge since I am lactose intollerant and don't really do much dairy during passover anyways. I mostly stick to meat and parve.

I love Japanese food and eat it aproximately every 1 or 2 weeks. I find if I begin my meal with a miso soup or tea I am warmed up and find eating sushi much easier. I avoid the maki rolls since the rice gives me a hard time. The nuri (seweed is impossible). If I do have a piece I just open it and eat the middle. I mostly stick to shashimi (yummi and no problem to eat). Sushi I pick the fish off of and leave the rice. sometimes I do eat some rice but find it does not go down so well. I usually feel better if I do not eat it. I LOVE shashimi.

Kareyquilts TT, BL, Lipo & BA
2bslimsherri replied to kareyquilts's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I take thyroid med's which cannot be crushed. Even though the pill is tiny it seems to irritate and cause swelling when i take it whole. I have found that by breaking it in half or quarters, I can more easily take it without compromising the effectiveness of the pill. I must take this pill 1st thing in the am on an empty stomach. -
I exercise 3 x per week with a trainer who comes to my home. I know that is not enough but i do work hard when he is here. I have lost a total of 45 pounds but i have not lost anything in the last month. I am getting worried. I am smaller though. i guess i have toned up a lot. i am going to meet with the nutritionist next week and i will get another small fill then. i hope it helps. I am looking forward to the warmer weather so I can begin to walk and ride my bike. Any advice?
