7 months out and experiencing shivers
AngelaE posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all, I wanted some advice, in the last 2 days I have been shivering at night and experiencing headaches and some abdominal pain. Has anyone experience this? I did call the Bariatric Team and they advise me to see my GP (doctor) which I will do later on today but just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this. -

STALL, STALL, STALL, STALL, STALL, STALL

Hi there, it's definitely your calorie in take plus you exercising with 700-900 daily intake is too low. I would up it a little by 200 calories and see what happens. -
Wow that's incredible, well done.

Hi there, I agree with Becky, your body is recovering and need to rest, pain is not a good sign when exercising. I started going to gym 2 weeks after surgery doing 10 minutes on a stationery bike and 15-20 minutes walking at 5-6mph on a treadmill. After 6 weeks I started to introduce weights into my routine. I love working out before the gym and found it was better to go slow at the beginning and increase the intensity as my body improved and healed during the process. Good luck.

I work out 4-5 times a week and as a result I have had to increase my calories from 1000 -1200 or 1300 on workout days and make sure before a workout I have a protein shake or omelette with salmon before breakfast, an hour before a workout. Or after a workout, sometimes a shake, banana with natural yoghurt, almonds or cottage cheese on a cracker. I can burn around 400-600 calories just from running and boy my body does need those extra calories, if not I suffer rom headaches and just too week to exercise.

1200 calories 6 months out
AngelaE replied to mercy96's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there. there is one thing I have learnt throughout this process after going to the gym 4-5 times a week and burning around 300-500 calories per workout is my body needs extra calories when I workout. I too started to suffer from blackouts or feeling light headed. I increased my calories from 800-1300 per day and god I feel so much better. I have an extra protein shake after my workouts, almond nuts or a banana. I did stall for a couple of weeks at first and decided to up my water intake and bingo the scales started moving again. It seems the body goes into starvation mode, especially when the body's working out at high intensity. I would suggest drinking more water and make your body has a little but if carb or too - but don't go crazy.... -

Well done to you, you look great!! -
Hi there, I do about 60 minute workout, 4 times a week. I may power work 7mph on the treadmill with 4-6lbs weights, just to tone up on arms for 15 minutes, then run for another 15 minutes at 10-11mph. Then on the step, bike or rowing machine for another 15 minutes. I change my exercise routine every day, to jogging on the treadmill for 30 then 20 of weight training. This way I keep tricking my body not to stay comfortable with my workouts and not stall. It seems to work. I started my workouts after surgery doing 10 minute ls on 3 cardo machines and increased the intensity as I improved. Then 10-20 minutes using weights or kettle bells. Good luck.

Enough Calories to Work Out?
AngelaE replied to JamieLogical's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there, I work out for 60 minutes x 4 times week 40 minutes max is cardo and the rest weights/bells and stretches. It all depends on the intensity of your work out, I use a heart monitor and my heart beat per minute is between 160 -140 burning around 500 - 600 calories in an hour. My body can't function only on 1000 calories per day. So an hour before a workout I have hard egg or omelette with ham. Then after my workout I have a Protein shake. Then 1 hr that a banana. I hope that helps. -

Hi Livinlife 125, Will invest in a Enell Bra next time round. I seem to growing through bra's veryquickly at the moment.
-
Can I advise it's best not to wear an underwire bra when exercising as it can damage the breast tissue especially with high impact workouts. I tend to go for bra which provides full support e.g.Freda Sports bra, I sometimes wear a sports vest with built in internal support for additional support. I am a 36H originally a 42JJ.

Hi there, I have a heart monitor Polar FT7 watch which tracks my heart beat and the no of calories bent per minute. I try to increase my workout at the gym by burning more calories by using more cardio machines. I am aware you can teach steps on some over the Polar watches. Look them up on Amazon..

You look amazing- well done and thanks for sharing.. -
It's those dreaded peanuts... It retains Water because of the salt content which will increase your body weight. I love peanuts and notice ever time I ate them the scales don't move or go up. I have now replaced them for now 20g of cashew nuts when I want peanuts and guest what the scales start moving again. I would kiss peanuts goodbye for now and save them for maintenance. Good luck.

I haven't done anything right
AngelaE replied to ELI.p.m's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think they want you to fail, it's just they don't know any different. You just have to show them the way with a lot of self control and let them see how much you have improved your well being by loosing the weight and making healthy food choices.
