I've been looking for a support group that it is in Nassau County and am eager to meet with you. I couldn't make it yesterday. I hope everything went well. Please keep posting so I can learn what you're doing next. I hope to be at the next meetup. I used to go to WISHES meetings and it was great but they are not holding meetings in Nassau any longer. They have a big presence in Suffolk but it it too far for me to participate. I am excited that you are having meetups and hope I can join you for the next one. -
I was getting my first fill 6 weeks post-surgery. The doctor said he was giving me a 1.5 fill. I was lying on the table and he had me sit partially up a few time to help him find my port. He then inserted the needle. It was in there quite a while and burned a little bit. He then withdrew it and then reinserted in and said something like “that’s it.” It burned a bit again. Then I felt liquid oozing on me and the doctor said “Don’t worry, it is not coming from you. I just had extra liquid.” The needle felt like it was still in me when this happened. After I saw the needle was out, I asked if any liquid got into me and he said “yes, I just had extra liquid.” Afterwards, I asked him about the post-fill diet instructions. He started handing me written instructions, then stopped and started to say something, then he said “never mind” and to follow the instructions and give it at least two weeks to see if I feel a difference. It seemed like he wanted to tell me something and then changed his mind. I am not too confident, that I got a fill. I think maybe the liquid never got into me and was just spilled on my skin. Maybe he was going to tell me that and then changed his mind. I don’t feel any differently although it is only 2 days after the “fill.” Am I just being neurotic? I asked the doctor once if I got a fill, I don't want to ask him again. Did you ever get “extra liquid” spilled on you during a fill?

Frustrated at the small fills. Whats the Norm?

I just got my first fill. It was 1.5. -
When did you get your first fill?

I got my first fill today at 6 weeks post op. It is 1.5 CCs. -
When did you get your first fill?
SteinLaFemme replied to SteinLaFemme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my four week post op visit and still no fill. I'm dissapointed. The doctor told me to start on solid foods (I had been on mushy foods up to now) and he wanted to see how I'm doing on solid foods. My next visit is in two weeks. Although I am eating less than I would before the surgery, I am afraid that I may gain weight in the next two weeks. After being on a liquid diet for four weeks and eathing mushy foods for two, I am food obsessed. It may sound weird but I can't wait for my fill! -

I am almost 4 weeks post-op and have not had a fill yet. I was wondering when everyone got their first fill?

Prior to the surgery, no one knew I was going to have it except for my husband and children who were kind and supportive and my sister who was OK with me having the band but worried about the surgery. I didn't want my mother or mother-in-law to know ever because they are weight obsessed and I didn't want them to drive me crazy asking me about my weight loss all of the time. I ended up having to tell them because they needed to know why I was avoiding them when I was in the hospital and recuperating. I was right, they are driving me crazy asking me about my weight loss every day which is very interesting because they did not talk to me every day before the procedure. Why is weight is so important to some people? Besides them, I had to tell the people at work many of which I have lunch with daily. They needed an explanation of why I was out two weeks for the surgery and recovery and why I was eating only liquids for 4 weeks. My coworkers were overall very supportive. Even people that I did not expect to be. Many people have come asking me about the procedure because either they or a loved one was thinking about having it. Most people don't mention it. Not one person has made me uncomfortable yet. I was banded almost a month ago.

6 days post op still hurting
SteinLaFemme replied to sbrown1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I noticed a drastic improvement on day 8 and 9. I was miserable before that. Today I am exactly 3 weeks post op and feel fine. I don't notice anything except I feel some soreness at the incision sites if they are touched. I hope you feel better soon! -
What should I expect at my 4 week post-op doctors visit?
SteinLaFemme posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have my 4 week post-op doctors visit coming up. At my 2 week visit, the Dr. removed my stiches (well most of them) and told me to start eating mushy foods. Besides removing the missed stiches and starting on solid foods, what else can I expect? Will I get a band fill? -
I used dr. Geiss too. Had procedure 3weeks ago. I feel good so far. Don't know how much I lost yet. Does anyone use dr. Geiss' office's support groups. I really want to but am worried no one else participate s. I went to two pre-surgury groups. I was the only one at one of them. The other had only 3 others. Wanted to go to a post surgery group last week and it was cancelled. I'm starting to worry about the support groups. I hope the one scheduled for next week will be OK. What is your experience with Dr. Geiss' office's support groups?

I am feeling good. Went back to work on day 14 and am eating mushy foods as instructed. I have not had a fill yet. I believe (but am unsure) that my next fill will be in two weeks. Last night I had flakey fish (about 2.5 oz) and mashed potatoes (4 tablespoons) for dinner. I was in a rush and ate much too quickly. I felt full but I still binged on watermelon later in the evening. I wasn't hungry. I just had to have the watermelon. I made sure to chew it to almost nothing before swallowing but still. I ate the watermelon. I am worried that getting "filled" will still not stop me from eating! Please give me some words of encouragement.

I work in the City and live on Long Island. Please let me know if you find a Long Island venue. I would love to attend. I could get to the City easier on weeknights than weekends but will try to get there on the 25th.
