Anybody getting hit with reality?
zebra_print posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm getting closer and closer to getting a surgery date, I have one more class and my psych eval left before all the fun pre-op festivities. But I'm realizing things like this past Halloween is going to be the last I spend being the fat characters lol or this winter will be my last with my own insulation. I love winter because I'm dying in the Florida summer. Does anybody else get this? -

zebra_print replied to lejlavj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You did just have an abdomen full of air and a stomach stapled to hell, pardon my language lol give yourself time to heal, that's all it is. -

Anybody getting hit with reality?
zebra_print replied to zebra_print's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm getting ahead of myself and starting to think about those shopping trips where I can spend $50 on outfits and then some rather than just a pair of jeans that fit. My husband is going to love the amount of money we will be saving after bypass. Grocery shopping for one and a toddler, then some vitamins. I'm excited. -

Thank you! I am super excited to be able to enjoy Florida summers again as well, I'm just not yet warmed up to becoming an icicle during the cold months lol! I'm looking forward to the new experiences in every aspect tho -
Tattoos before and after surgery
zebra_print replied to Adriane5Sims's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have my biggest piece going across my lower back from hip to hip. I hope it doesn't become too warped lol maybe with enough exercise I'll be able to keep some elasticity in my skin so later down the line if skin removal comes into play it won't effect it. But a part of me doubts this. But it's kind of a chance I'm willing to take. Maybe with enough strength training you will be fine. But in all honesty, loose skin is something we can't run from. Good luck! That's very pretty btw -
I don't see why it would have any effect on surgery
-
No clue why buy maybe some honesty would tell you. Doctors usually have reasons to ask these things. I understand the embarrassment but even telling them occasionally is ok. That's what they are there for, they aren't mind readers. But this may have had something to do with incontinence or something. Maybe bladder related.

I've learned to hope for the best but prepare for the worst reading the stories on here. I hope everybody gets Whar they need to speed up the process. I know waiting sucks when you wait so long but it will be worth it.

Anyone tried won ton wrappers?
zebra_print replied to DarthVixen's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I love it! If only I could get my husband to eat vegetables. Lol! He's worse than a kid sometimes when I cook but he has no choice because he can't cook anything that doesn't involve a microwave :/ -
Jacksonville, Fl and surgeon is Miro Uchal

Anyone tried won ton wrappers?
zebra_print replied to DarthVixen's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Do they have a brand that uses whole wheat instead of enriched? I don't eat enriched anything now, and I think I'm going to keep that habit even after surgery. This sounds like an amazing alternative to bread and tortilla btw. -
I know the feeling! It truly is exciting but patience will pay off. I'm halfway thru my journey and I'm already anxious lol hopefully everything gotta by quickly for you

It's official, I changed from the sleeve to RNY. Date 12/19!
zebra_print replied to Jelko7t3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor also advised me to go for RNY. I was going to do the lapband but looking at my age, 24, already have high blood pressure, pre diabetic, pcos, and severe obstructive sleep apnea the bypass was going to be the best route for me. I'm confident in my decision and in my surgeon. He's pretty well known and a great person all around. I'm glad you decided on something that will work for you in the long run -
That's exciting! Congrats! The way things are going for me I'm looking at early February. My birthday is February 4th so maybe I'll get a life change for a birthday present

I believe that's how it goes. My surgeons office gives it a month between required classes/diets to gather all requirements and get approval for my insurance. Not sure about other bariatric doctors. I would call them and ask them how the whole process works.

Which is the right order to take
zebra_print replied to ThinnerMe2015's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I met the actual surgeon already and still doing dietician classes. My psych eval is later this month so idk maybe it is insurance preference. The bariatric center assigned me an "advocate" and she set up every appointment needed for me. Not sure if the order is a big deal. Everybody may do it slightly different. -
Afraid to Ask Doctor About WLS...
zebra_print replied to chylamarie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor was all for it. He even sent a referral to the best bariatric surgeon in the city. I'm still on my journey for insurance approval. I just came out and told him I'm wanting WLS and he took care of the rest. Maybe you will be lucky and not have any issues. Be brave.
