Congrats on having your surgery and good luck. It does get better.

    Clothing size

I had surgery on January 30th. I started in a very tight 24 and 3x tops, now I'm into a size 18 and XL or 2X tops depending on the type. I can also wear kids shoes now! Lol

    Appeal Question

So my appeal was submitted and we are waiting to hear back. They have 30 days to respond and we're on day 20-25. I was wondering if anyone has been through an appeal had to wait that long and still get a yes or is this a bad sign that they are dragging it out? Any personal experience shares would be appreciated!
  6. I was sleeved on 1/30. In total including Pre-Op I've lost 60 with 17 of it being Pre-Op. I've stalled so many times and I'm not sure why. I'm watching what goes in, making the right food choices. I don't always get the amount of protein in the doctor wants but I do my best on those days. I've even been doing cardio at the gym since my doctor won't release me to do strength training until my appointment tomorrow. It's frustrating and I'm not sure what to do. I thought it had broke but this morning I was up a lb. Possible water weight I'm sure but I don't like it. Any tips on breaking stalls? Thanks for reading my rant lol

    Stall

Thanks for the reply. It's definitely frustrating. Sadly they're not very regular so that may be part of it. I've recently tried Miralax which seems to help. I weigh too often lol. It's so exciting so I find it hard to resist just to get mad lol. Congrats on your loss!
  8. I'm 5 weeks out and having nausea issues. I haven't been able to eat anything at all yet today as the smell makes me want to vomit. I start gagging at the slightest thing. I've been drinking water this morning but even that isn't settling very well. Has anyone experienced this? If so any tips would be appreciated. My doctor prescribed Phenergan (spelling) post surgery with refills but it makes me sleepy so I can't take it since I'm at work. I feel awful.

    5 Weeks Out

The nausea subsided enough to where I got my water in for the day. I will definitely call if I have another day like today. I need to make an appointment anyway. My last one was cancelled due to weather. Thanks for the responses.
  10. Oo it's good to see you in this section. How far out from surgery are you? I remember you from the insurance section.

    Birth control and surgery

I was allowed to stay on mine. I think I nagged some about it because I'd read you had to be off of it but it was fine. I've had no complications.
  12. I had my surgery on January 30th. I know it's too soon for strength training but I was curious when you were allowed to join a gym and start strength training. My next appointment with my doctor isn't until March 5 where I plan on asking him but I'm just curious if it varies by doctor. I can't wait to get in the gym but don't want to push it either.

    Gym

I feel fine so I'm going to see what he says when I go. I'm anxious haha

  15. I'm in the same boat. I had my three week stall at 2 weeks and I was frantic. The boards really helped since it seems to be normal. The scale budged again so I'm hoping I'm past the stall. Keep doing what you're doing and make sure you get enough water and protein.

    Kentucky Medicaid Changes

Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. I had nothing but a headache and runaround from them.

    Kentucky Medicaid Changes

I'm not sure. I had mine done with WellCare and was approved the day after my packet was submitted. Stay away from BCBS they gave me months of headache and heartache. Try calling your customer service number. The criteria for most insurance is a BMI of 40+ with no comorbid condition or 35+ with. There's always the one that's different but overall those seem to be the general guidelines. Since yours is over 40 and you also have a comorbid you should qualify once you jump through their hoops if they cover it. Good luck.
  18. Sadly I'm the same way right now. I am really sensitive to smells right now as well as taste. Things don't taste the same. I can't wait until this part fixes itself!
  19. I would contact your surgeon immediately. Vomiting is not good. My doctor wrote me something for nausea which has helped tremendously.

Good luck. I had mine on the 30th.

    The Waiting Game Ended Today!

Most doctors offices put a tentative date down when they submit then when you go in you pick your real date. That's what mine did and I was able to get a January 30 surgery date. Congrats on approval and good luck!

    Finally!

My first attempt at approval was a long, disappointing headache. We submitted to BCBS and they denied it saying I didn't have a co morbid when their criteria clearly stated BMI of 40 and greater or 35 and a co morbid. At the time mine was around 50. We appealed and proved our case but they then admitted I was a candidate but denied it due to administrative error. There were no errors. The next option was a state fair hearing which we pursued to get the run around. By this time it was open enrollment so I switched to WellCare. During all of this I finished the 6 month diet because BCBS only required 3. My insurance started the 1st of January. My doctors office submitted my packet on the 5th. Yesterday! This morning we got the approval. I am beside myself right now. I go in Thursday to get a date!
