Shoulder pain
thintrappedinafatbody42 replied to hangy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Shoulder pain you are describing is most likely due the CO2 gas used to inflate your abdomen during surgery. Walk, try a heating pad, and it will pass. If symptoms do not subside, call your surgeon. Melanie -
just had surgery two days ago very sore in a lot of pain
thintrappedinafatbody42 replied to Artina 1970's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I had my sleeve done 9/25/2014. Here are my suggestions, if you are having a lot of pain, contact your surgeon! Follow your post-op instructions! Get up and walk, sitting does nothing to expel the gas used in your abdomen during surgery. Pain comes with surgery. You got this! Melanie -

things i wish they would have told me...
thintrappedinafatbody42 replied to glitterpockets's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my gastric sleeve on 9/25/2014 and I have lost 91 pounds and counting, only 12 more to go to reach my goal. It is VERY IMPORTANT to follow your physicians plan of care. DO NOT be a couch potato, get up and walk as soon as you can. All surgery has pain, you will feel bloated from the CO2 uses to inflate your abdomen during surgery. If you do not walk and expel the gas, it will settle in your shoulders. (not fun), I thought I was walking enough, but 5 days post op it hit my right shoulder, it was painful, but doable. Incisional pain for me, was little to none. I set my timer on my phone to drink fluids (including my protein), even though I didn't want to consume any beverages. Looking back the gastric sleeve was the best thing I have ever done for myself. Good luck. Do not be anxious about the "pain". Tell yourself it will be the worst pain of your life, and when it isn't you will be relieved. Melanie -
I had my sleeve 9/25 and have lost 49.5 pounds
thintrappedinafatbody42 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 5'3. Starting weight 227. I feel fantastic, I have lost 49.5 pounds and have recently started a hard core fitness class at my gym 5-6 times per week. I drink at least 60grams of Premier Protein per day, follow my diet plan and consume my Vitamins. My problem? A "friend" had a sleeve done early Nov. I saw her for the first time last night. She asked how much weight I had lost, and I stated, "50 pounds." She then said, "Are you happy with that??" I stated, "Yes, I am an over achiever and ahead of the game." UGH! How rude!! Am I losing appropriately?? My "Friend" just started eating "food" and does not supplement protein. How can not let comments like that bother me?? I think I am doing well. -
I was sleeved 9/25/14. I have lost 35 pounds so far. Looking for a mentor. I am 5'3 and have 65 pounds to go. Thanks. Melanie

thintrappedinafatbody42 replied to christina1979's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel the same way also. I have lost 1 pound in 1 week. Total 35. I am feeling discouraged and frustrated. Thanks for the comments. I do feel "slimmer" and people are noticing I "have lost a lot of weight". Persevere. We can do this! -
Sex...
thintrappedinafatbody42 replied to pinkbunies's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor advises to wait 3 weeks. I waited until 2. My husband never complained to me about my weight, but since I have lost over 30 pounds, it is more frequent. Hope this helps. -

Dealing with food addiction POST SURGERY
thintrappedinafatbody42 replied to nikkydizzle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, thank you for your post. Like you and everyone else on this site, I have an addiction to food. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ALL THINGS BREAD! With that being said, when the post-op day arrived for me to try bread, I opted not to. My taste buds have changed since surgery, but I do not want to remember what it tastes like. I have control what I eat now and I want to stay in control. I want to be a success . My advice to you is remember what got you into this situation. You have received a second chance. Good luck. I finally am started to feel like myself again, it is not only the weight loss, but the hope I have to use this great tool and be healthy again. I do not regret the surgery. Follow your nutritional plan and your doctor's advise and you will do great! Good luck! -

Did You Freak Out About Surgery on the Day Of?
thintrappedinafatbody42 replied to mnmlst's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there. I am a RN in the OR and I had my sleeve 9/25/14. I work in the hospital where I had the surgery. I picked everyone in the room (a plus when you work in the OR), but I was apprehensive. Totally normal. Focus on the end result. For me, it is the reality I will wear shorts in the spring. Pre surgery I went to Sam's and stocked up on Premier Chocolate protein shakes. 30g/110z. I planned out what i would be doing after surgery. I did great and so will you. I went back to work 10/6/2014. I feel fantastic. No hunger, and no thirst. I use my timer and a shot glass to get my protein/fluids in. Good luck!
