Gurgling noises when I eat and drink
TheOptimist posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Almost everytime I eat and drink strange noises come out of my throat. I think it's my throat. I have to chew everything up to a fine mush in order not to feel like throwing up. But noises still come out. Maybe my band is too tight. What do you think? -

Can you just imagine if we all had dinner together! Funny. Glad to hear I am not alone. Initially thought I was a mutant. -

Thank you so much. That makes me feel better. Thought something was wrong with my band. Although, my husband won't much like it. It makes me sounds like I'm possesed!!! :-) -
Chrisann, I too thought I would bounce back faster...and then I remembered "I'm 42 not 22!!!" My mind keeps thinking it is 22 and I have to remember that I'm in the body of a 42 year old. We don't recover as fast I have discovered. You're not alone.

Not feeling full and frustrated! Does it change?
TheOptimist replied to mindyemt08's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded on 1/10 and the doctor filled my 4cc band with 2.25 cc's the day after surgery, and I have been hungry ever since. I have to eat, well drink actually, every 2 hours or my tummy growls something fierce. Granted I can't eat very much. I am loosing weight though. I hope this hunger subsides. It is killing me. -
Anyone had band and gallbladder out at the same time?
TheOptimist replied to Catgal36's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
oh, expect 4-5 incinsions for the lapband and 2 for the gallbladder. I came out of surgery and was a little suprized to find 7 holes in my abdomen! Also, get some extra pillows. Only comfortable position to sleep is propped up on your back. -
Anyone had band and gallbladder out at the same time?
TheOptimist replied to Catgal36's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just hand my band and gallbladder done at the same time on Jan 10th. The gallbladder side of my turso is much more sore. I would have been back to work within a few days of the lapband surgery, but the gallbladder has kept me at home (although working from my laptop) since the surgery. I too had to pay for my own lapband. So, I just paid the extra for the gallbladder since I didn't want to go through a second surgery. I am 42 and 100 lbs overweight. No other health issues. I have not had any issues (yet) with having both done at the same time. Surgery was done in MX. -
Lap Band and Gall Stones
TheOptimist replied to AngelSoftSnow's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should probably just request to have your gall bladder removed at the same time. I have known I've had gall stones for about 10 years. They are too big to pass and my prior doctor did not consider them a threat. My new PCP thinks I should have it removed because there's always a chance newer ones will form, and the small ones are the dangerous ones. So, I will getting my band in early Jan in Mexico and the doctor there had suggested that the gall bladder should just be taken out at the sametime. My mother-in-law had her's removed earlier this year at the same time she had her gastric bypass (in the US). Everything went fine. -
Any Southern Ca. Kaiser Banders?
TheOptimist replied to EdB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
-This is my first post, so be kind! My mother-in-law recently had gastric bypass through Kaiser here in San Diego. Kaiser contracts this work out to Pacific Bariatric Center. I do know that they are working on proctoring the Lap-band as I recently contacted them. Kaiser made her go through 12 weeks of classes before the surgery. They are once per week for a couple of hours. It is a requirement that all 12 weeks of classes are attended. If you miss one you have to make it up. They have numerous times the classes are offered. If you are interested in more information, let me know and I will ask my mother-in-law. She has been very impressed with her experience with Kaiser through this.
