I had surgery 04/28.had some complications and ended up being in surgery for 9 hours. the doctor later told me that because of my anatomy surgery was a little more complicated and he didn't like how things looked when he finished up, so he basically did everything over. Because of all this I was in the hospital til 05/01 first couple of days were really hard but it really does get a little better each day ????

Glad you guys are doing so good, I had rny 04/28. Due to some complications ended up having a 9 hour surgery and staying an additional day in the hospital. but getting better each day, having a hard time taking in 80 grams of protein and still can't sleep on my sides either.

Djmohr, thanks for the support trying my best to do things the right way and trying to keep focusing on improving a day at a time.

Dhrguru, glad to hear your recovering well, I'm still struggling with sleeping on my back(I'm a side sleeper) whenever I try to turn to my side a feel like my intestines are being pulled out. I'm also struggling with the 80 grams of protein. Currently only having 40-50 grams. But I take my multivatimin and calcium religiously every day. How are you doing with these things?

My nut is the diet devil in person. she will not let me have anything but broth, shakes, jello, and sugar free Popsicles. She wrote "Absolutely No Food Allowed" in huge red letters on my diet sheet. I'm starting to prepare for my hospital stay, so far I've grabbed a robe, 2 pairs of comfy pj's, 2 sets of comfy underwear, tooth brush, and Chapstick. Are you getting ready yet?

Things just got real for those of us going under on the 28th. I can proudly report that I am on my 12th day of the liquid diet and I've not cheated once. How I got here, I don't even know. I guess the fear of surgery has kept me honest. How's everybody else doing?

Going into day 6, I'm very proud of sticking to the diet 100%, it's been a challenge, I keep thinking this will be the worst part of the process so if I can do this I can make it all the way. good night

Congrats audnmac8, I'm on day 5. I also am not allowed yogurt or pudding. It's gotten a little bit easier but it's still a huge struggle. All I keep thinking is just 10 more to go. stay strong

Homemade chicken broth with a squeeze of lemon, my mother makes it for me and I love it. I'm still struggling with the protein shakes, I've tried a bunch and I'm not a fan of any, I ordered the syntax fuzzy navel and chocolate truffle, should be getting them next week. Let's see how that goes. How about you?

Hang in there, I'm on day 4, and I honestly do not know how I made it thru the first 3 days without breaking my diet or dying ????but I must say today I feel really good about sticking with it and not hungry at all, I think it'll be easier going forward. Also got a call from my nut yesterday saying I have H. pylori which won't change my surgery date, but adds a bunch of pills to my diet for 2 weeks

Congrats on your surgery date, I'm having mine on the 28th and started my liquid diet on the 14th, which makes today my 4th day on it. let me tell you I do not know how I made it thru the first 3 days. I was hungry all the time, but today I feel a lot better and for the 1st time I really believe I'll follow thru. If I had to choose, the one thing that kept me honest these last three days was thinking that they would open me up and not be able to do the surgery because I didn't follow my diet. Also my nut called yesterday and told me I have H. pylori which won't affect surgery date, but now I have to drink a ton of antibiotics for the next 2 weeks.

Hello All, I too think my RNY surgery will take place in Feb 2015, I'm hoping for January but being realistic it will probably be Feb. my 6 month pre op diet( which by the way not going so well) ends in December. I'm very happy to have found this thread of people in a similar stage as myself. My current weight is 390 pounds, sadly the same as when I went on the pre-op diet. I just turned 33 and I'm Single without children.
