Post op day 4, feeling unsure?
little_mrs replied to little_mrs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can have puréed foods but need to put most of my focus on liquids so I don't get dehydrated. -
I am 4 days post op from the laparoscopic RNY and I'm not doing great. I didn't tolerate the anesthesia..I had severe migraines and nausea. I couldn't even sit Bedside until 12 hours post op. I didn't tolerate the morphine pain pump well either, still having nausea and migraines after each use. When I stop to eat and drink no nausea so I'm thankful that isn't the reason. I came home yesterday and I am walking around the house and have liquid Percocet which makes my heart race and if I take the full dose I have extreme migraine pain with occasional nausea. I went 12 hours with no pain meds just because I'd rather deal with the pain than the knife in my head pain and nausea. I just had a small portion of cottage cheese and took 5ml of the liquid Percocet since it says I can take 5 or 10 every 6 hours. I don't want to be in pain and slow my progress but I also don't want to be bed bound from migraine and nausea from the side effects. One more thing, every time I wake up whether I'm sitting up or laying down I have severe pain in the top of my head for about a half an hour and I just have to sit and let it pass. I just woke up from an hour nap about a half hour ago and didn't experience that however I didn't have the Percocet in my system..not sure if I should just cut back on it? When will I start to feel more normal? I am eating and drinking well, my abdomen is tight and extremely sore, my back is also stiff. What has everyone else's recovery been like?

Advice for 4 days post op
little_mrs replied to little_mrs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much for the info! I will stick with the liquid Tylenol. Also I have been having a lot of diahrea the last two days but the only thing I've eaten is cottage cheese, maybe I also have a problem with lactose?? -
Ok great! I look forward to having a normal routine again!

I'm two weeks until my surgery date and am worried how I will feel and deal with not having constant comfort foods. I don't want crave them and find comfort in super unhealthy food and portions. How does everyone deal with? Or does getting full quicker help with cravings?!

little_mrs replied to ThinnerMe2015's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My very first consultation was 9/18 and my surgery is 11/18 exactly two weeks! I had no supervised diet requirements. I got my approval from insurance 8 days after the surgeons office submitted it ???? -
Hair loss after Surgery
little_mrs replied to Jorrin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have thin hair so I'm so worried about having bald spots. I know a few people that swear by Coromega squeeze pouches. They are a little pricey but the people I know that use it have little to no hair loss. I haven't noticed hair anywhere else for the biotin but I'd deal with it if it helped me keep the hair on my head. Lol how far are you post op? -

Scheduling surgery after insurance approval
little_mrs replied to gwunderle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine set before my insurance was even approved. It took me 8 days after it was submitted to know I was approved, surgery is November 18th!???? -
My surgery is November 18th and I am nervous, but.... What I love best about this...even tho it will be a struggle, not easy..is that it IS permanent. I need to lose weight and I know deep down I need this tool to be a permanent part of my life to ensure I maintain my weight and my health. My suggestion, always remember what your drive was to do this and you'll never regret it. Good luck!! ????

Insurance Approval?
little_mrs replied to MarissaAnn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first consultation was Sept 18th and my surgery is set for November 18th. Exactly 2 months. I was told this was very fast but everything was just smooth sailing. When I called my surgeons office the first time they made me call to make sure my insurance which is Anthem Blue cross blue shield to make sure that my policy included weight loss surgery. I called them back minutes later and said that it did. They asked my weight and height to get my bmi and verified my insurance along with the group # and other info off the ins card. I had my first appt two days later. My bmi is 48 with no comorbities. I'm 35yo. I made a psychologist appt that was mandatory and then another consult with the surgeon after that and got a surgery date. After that I had a pre op physical that was an ekg, chest X-ray,blood work etc..which all came out great. I had a 3 hour pre op class that same day also. And signed my consent for surgery! That's it now just waiting 3 more weeks!! I hope you have smooth sailing and it all works out well for you! -

Can you have an EGD or endoscopy after rny?
little_mrs posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Someone recently told me that it isn't possible to have an endoscopy or an EGD after having RNY is this true?? -
How much Biotin are you all taking to help prevent hair loss? My surgery date is 11-18 and I started taking 5000mg a day. I see the bottle says it can be taken twice a day. Also anyone taking Coromega for hair loss?
-
I am willing to try anything. My hair is so thin on top that I have to use brown spray shampoo to hide my scalp and I'm still pre op. If I lose a lot it will literally be bald on top! Maybe once I lose weight my hormones will balance out and I will have thicker hair? My hair before I gained so much weight was so thick. Here's hoping

I have also heard amazing things about Coromega squeeze packets. I guess it's like a pudding consistently and is absorbed well. I think I will be trying it with Biotin when I'm post op. You can find it cheaper on EBay and Amazon. I'd love some more feedback on shampoo, I've heard about Nioxin, but haven't heard to much about any others.

Thank you! how many milligrams do you take a day? And is it helping at all? Where can I get the chewables? I haven't seen them
