My bariatric program said at least 75 grams and preferably over 100 grams. Bariatric programs want to achieve good numbers for their program. Best results and least complications etc. Following those guidelines helps get them their numbers and better health for patients yes, if a person chooses to do more to get to optimal health that's an individual's choice to make. Exactly. Surgeons are giving us the bare minimums to meet to keep the surgery from wreaking havoc on our bodies. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

Here is some great info. Not bariatric specific. Our surgeries are a tool, we are still human and should nourish our bodies properly. This link will help you calculate how much Protein based on who you are, what you do and what your goals are. Getting skinny doesn't always equal getting healthy. You'll drop weight faster eating less protein and do terrible things to your body. Building and maintaining lean muscle mass, losing the fat, getting in great cardiovascular health and getting your bodies functioning to the best they possibly can is what we need to strive for. http://www.acaloriecounter.com/diet/how-much-protein-per-day/ Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

Not getting enough Protein is terrible for your body especially post bypass. You would eat the protein equal to a healthy goal weight. No one should have a goal weight of 250 unless they are a taller man. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

Shoot for as many grams of Protein per day as your goal weight. 150 pounds=150 grams per day etc... Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

If you have been doing a lot of cardio a resting heart rate in the 40's or 50's is quite possible and a good thing. Basically you have strengthened your heart muscle so much it doesn't have to work as hard as it used to when you are resting. Mine is the same mid fifties and sometimes the 40's when I sleep. I usually do 6-7 miles on the elliptical over the course of an hour, 3-4 days a week. Along with the lower resting heart rate another effect of heavy cardio is your total cholesterol may be higher. Your good cholesterol can increase quite a bit which can raise your overall number, which is why your ratio is more important than your total cholesterol. Keep up the good work. http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/Conditions/More/MyHeartandStrokeNews/All-About-Heart-Rate-Pulse_UCM_438850_Article.jsp#mainContent

Birth control pills before surgery
downsizingdebs replied to monica36's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will be fine, trust your doc. Enjoy the transformation. -
I just recently ordered a latex waist cincher, it holds all the loose skin/flabby tummy in tight and smooth. I'd totally recommend it. It's awesome to have something that shapes you incredibly and you don't have to pull up and down to use the bathroom.

Birth control pills before surgery
downsizingdebs replied to monica36's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As long as you don't smoke you should be perfectly fine. I'm on Nuvaring while not a pill, is still same hormones. Had no issues at all. You definitely don't want to risk pregnancy until after you are at a stable healthy weight. -
Good to hear you're knocking out all your pre-surgery requirements. Sounds like 2016 is going to be your year!

Did you ladies have your surgery?
