Pain on right side by liver
downsizingdebs replied to christina.banks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry to hear about your pain. Did the pain start after eating, possibly something with fat in it. Pain in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen is usually concerning for gall bladder problems/gall bladder attacks etc. There's usually nausea or vomiting associated with that and perhaps very light colored stools. Good to check with the doctor sooner than later. You can't be too careful, especially with a pain getting more severe lasting 4 days. Hope everything is ok keep us updated. -
Unexpected surprise expenses
downsizingdebs replied to KC VSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes a big tub it's very expensive stuff too. If you are supposed to pay a percentage they won't charge you your portion, just takes what insurance pays only. Search the forms a LOT of people get their stuff from them. They have some special metabolic complex too but mine didn't cover that, but some people's insurance does. -

That's awesome, I'm happy to hear everyone is doing so well. Just wondering if anyone married or in relationships is starting to have problems with insecurity from their mate. I am catching hell with mine. I know the surgery itself doesn't create this problem, it just intensifies one that was already there. This stinks. It's like every pound I lose, it gets worse and worse. I even got accused of cheating because I took too long to tour, sign up at and work out at a different gym. I'm down over 50 pounds since surgery and hoping to lose another 75-100 pounds. Wondering if my marriage will be over before I even hit goal. Venting a little maybe, just wondering if anyone else is in the same situation. -
hospital stay and back to work
downsizingdebs replied to keriannk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a sleeve gastrectomy with hiatal hernia repair on a Tuesday, I stayed overnight 2 nights, went home Thursday, rested over the weekend and was back at work Monday with no problems. I work a desk job. I felt fine, I would have felt like I was wasting paid time off if I stayed home any longer. -

I found the recovery from this surgery very easy and not very painful. I got out of the hospital on a Thursday and rested over the weekend. I went back to work Monday and was fine, I work a desk job. No way I'd turn down a promotion because I just had surgery. In 2-3 weeks you should be down 20+ pounds and feeling normal. -

My Surgeon's office sells overpriced vitamins and shakes that they want you to buy from them for the rest of your life. So yes they aren't going to sign for me to get free stuff. My PCP who cares about me and my welfare and doesn't sell vitamins and shakes signed it right away. I could be wrong but it seems to me that they get your insurance co to pay for the cream which is expensive and the shakes/vitamins are a gift. They take what your insurance pays and discount your copay amount, so you never pay anything. I could be wrong but that's my take on it. -

Insurenutrition.com they sponsor this site. My Surgeon's office wouldn't sign the script my PCP did no questions asked. The scar cream is working very well too. The premier protein go down easier than water to me the vanilla and chocolate are pretty good. -

Insure nutrition sends me 72 premier protein shakes a month for free, I drink 2 a day at 30 grams each, the other 40 grams plus are from lean meats, fish, greek yogurt etc. Did anyone else get approved for the shakes, vitamins and scar cream, mine was covered $0 and will stay $0 a month even when the new year starts. That definately helps you get your protein in and free is great too. -

Yep I don't go over much but always hit 100 grams my doc pushes a high protein low carb ketogenic diet. I'm just under 6ft with a large muscular frame, so maybe the higher protein is okay for that reason, I'd imagine when I start doing more weight training I'd need a little more than that even. I don't think there's a problem unless you are taking in more protein than the body can handle. -

I take the same biotin as Stephh, I take 4 of those daily, sublingual b-12, CoQ10, bariatric vitamins and I make sure to get over 100 grams of protein daily. -

I don't think I'm going to lose any hair, I'm 2 months out from surgery. My hair seems thicker and healthier. I think I'm losing even less hair than the normal few strands here and there. I have been very good about taking my vitamins and extra biotin daily. Anyone else notice a change in their hair. -

You have to see what works best for you as far as how much you can handle at a time, your schedule etc. Just make sure you are getting in your vitamins, proteins and fluids. I would assume spread equally over the day is best for absorbtion. -

Got my first monthly shipment from Insurenutririon.com today 72 Protein shakes, bariatric Vitamins and a tub of special scar compound. Insurance covered at 100% and this shipment will come every month. Has anyone else registered or got approved with them, if not I'd highly recommend it. Here is the info on the scar compound if anyone is curious. Scar Therapy Cream Ingredients Tranilast is an anti-allergic drug. Studies have shown tranilast to inhibit the release of histamine and prostaglandins from mast cells. It also suppresses collagen synthesis of fibroblasts derived from keloid and hypertrophic scar tissue but not healthy tissue. Tranilast also inhibits the release of transforming growth factor (TGF)-beta 1 from keloid fibroblasts. Topical treatment has been found to be more beneficial than when given orally. Relief of burning sensation, pain and pruritis associated with keloid scars. Mometasone, a medium potency glucocorticosteroid, is used to reduce inflammation. Topical therapy is preferred over systemic therapy due to fewer associated adverse effects. Mometasone produces anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstrictive actions. Levocetirizine is a histamine (H1) receptor antagonist. Topical antihistamines can be used to reduce swelling and eliminate itching. Itching can lead to unintentional scratching which only further damages the tissue. Antihistamines have other anti-scar properties as well: they inhibit the inflammatory response which reduces scar formation. They are also antiproliferative agents and have been shown to inhibit the deposition and synthesis of collagen in keloid fibroblasts through suppression o f the release of TGF-b1 from fibroblasts. Levocetirizine is a long acting antihistamine which provide for less frequent dosing and longer relief for patients. -

Less than a week, anything extra covered by insurance is awesome. It's definately worth a try. My surgeons office wouldn't sign off on the scripts because they want you to buy their vitamins and shakes. I had them fax the script to my PCP and he signed right off and they are shipping out right away. -

Great job Stephh!!! My steps are soooo low today. I had my second surgery in less than a month. I had a nerve block for my arm since they were operating on my finger I broke and they gave me twilight anesthesia. I will be so glad when the nerve block wears off because my arm is hanging lifeless with no sensation in a sling until it wears off LOL. -

I just recently bought the jawbone up24 tracks activity sleep mood calories/nutrition and more. You can scan the Barcode on your food when you eat it, type it in or snap a pic. You can add teammates to support/push eachother to sleep well and move more etc. If anyone buys one or has one message me so I can give you my add info.
