Wow- see, it IS like being pregnant- uncomfortable, gassy, nauseas, emotional, nesting, can't bend to the floor, and some of us had to wait 9 months to get here!! But then, the rewards; losing the double chin and the belly afterwards and being so much more energetic. Instead of gaining a baby tho, you're losing one that weighs 100lbs or more!

I'm having them too amylynns. A terrible one last night. I took a sleeping pill and went to bed too. It was trying to take hold this morning, but finally got me around 4pm.
-
I did that last week. And prob gained 5 pounds.

Okay- why is Panera advertising soup and sandwiches on the bottom of my screen? On a bariatric weight loss forum! I am dizzy and hungry from no sugar or caffeine today and only 2 shakes and these weird crisps. I am really looking forward to some leafy greens and chicken tonight. Please Panera, go away!!

So happy for Beni!! Yayyyyy!

For those on liquid diets now.

My doctors office says no red, blue or purple liquid/jello before surgery. (These doctors are all so different from practice to practice regarding their rules!) That's very limiting with Popsicles and jello. Also with the mio flavors. Mine also advises you to buy packaged bars and crisps from them for the first week pre diet, but when I ate the bar today I looked at the carbs. 21!! How can I go into ketosis to shrink my liver with all of those carbs? I'm at lunchtime right now drinking a shake and water and I keep on reaching for a snack and have to stop myself. I guess it's habit because I'm really not hungry with all of this water sloshing around. It's going to take ALOT of practice to not use a straw (especially with the shakes post surgery) and definitely take a lot of practice to not drink with my meals post surgery. -
G'night ladies. I have to get 7 hrs on my CPAP or my insurance co. will freak. Hopefully I'll be rid of this nightmarish contraption after surgery! £0¥€ you guys!

That bites. At least all of my meds are crushable according to my pharmacist. So sorry for you.
-
Ohh!, I keep forgetting to ask- how long is everyone staying at the hospital? I'm thinking one night unless complications like nausea? It's tough bc your person has to wait ALL DAY during the surgery, go home, and maybe come back the next day for a lift home. My poor mom.
-
Haha! I'm sorry Beni..it's really contradictory tho. "No drinking water for 14 hrs" and especially "no eating before anesthesia." The anesthesiologist DOES know what kind of surgery this is, right?,
-
Oops. They
-
I hope thirty offer something like that at my hospital
-
Well, one paper said to not drink after midnight the night before, but then a nurse had written in "no liquid 6 hrs prior to prep time" which is 2 hrs before surgery. That would put me at 7 in the morning, and I'm sorry but ima get as much sleep as I can that morning bc I'll be busy drinking water after probably.

My doctor also said to bring GasX strips. And I have a 3:30pm surgery time. Boohoo, I have to fast all day. Can't they also give you phenergan or something for nausea? That's what I'm worried about. Getting sick and dehydrated and pulling stitches from my hiatal surgery he's going to do. I start my two week diet in the morning. No diet cokes- withdrawal city with headaches are sure to keep me company at work tomorrow. Water, water, and more water...

DaronB I'm in NC also. My surgery is on the 23rd. -
So happy for you SBB!!

Hey, does anyone have one of those fitbits or a comparable one? They're pretty expensive with the readout on some of them. I didn't know if they are worth it or if it's just as easy to keep up with water by your phone timer. I've heard that they are also a pedometer and heart rate gauge.
-
Oh I forgot; Beni, I'm getting RNY bypass plus fixing a large hiatal hernia. I'm wondering if the fluids will be any harder to get down because of the HH area being sore? I know if I get nauseous and throw up it will probably hurt from pulling stitches there. When I was pregnant, I spent the first 4 months each time getting sick all day, so I'm prone to that esp when I get dizzy. (I had to wear sea bands just to get into a standing position.) I sure hope I don't fall into that trap again of getting dehydrated. Ice chips and Popsicles did help tho.

Hahaha Superbariatricbabe, I'll leave you to it!, enjoy the drugs while they last... And amylynns, 90 oz! You're going to float away with all of that liquid! You're my hero.
-
Amylynns, how are the liquids going?
-
I've been thinking about you all day superbariatricbabe and hoping you're doing okay.
-
Yay superbariatricbabe! I'm lime jello that you're getting surgery today!
-
Oh layknee, you've done great so far, losing so much from May. And yes, getting things in order... That is very important. Like nesting before having a baby. You've got to get ur brain on board with what your body will naturally do. I've heard it said in support group that it's a shame they don't do the surgery on your brain instead because it's totally a mind game to get your head wrapped around it all. Like when you get used to one stage, It sort of changes. I think we have to be adaptable and willing to let ourselves change. I know there will be many stages. Going to the gym routinely will def be a life changer for me. We will just lend strength to each other. I'm going to need it for sure. I'm so glad I found you ladies.

Amylynns, 96 OUNCES OF WATER A DAY??? I would be manic. And freelyme, we have the same surgery date
-
Um, I would like it better if I could see posts while I'm writing so I don't forget what I want to respond to. anyway, thank you both amylynns and jyoyonomore for welcoming me. My doctor didn't say a word about calories to me bc they have you buy a presurgery kit with the necessary "food". For the protien snacks it's protien chips twice a day and protien bars twice a day and then the regular dinner. 60 G protein/ 64 oz water. The water will be the toughest part. I want to gag when I drink water but I'm gonna have to get over that quickly. It also makes me feel sloshy and kind of queasy for the first week on any of my previous diets. I was looking at Auris pictures, and we have the same shape.
