    Advil vs Tylenol

My doc said no ibuprofen for 6 months.

    Vitamins

I am required to do chewable or liquid for a month. Have you tried crushing it and hiding it in food? I am still pre-op, but I was given multiple samples of vits. Are you taking them with food? I am so afraid this will be me in 3 weeks. (Surg day is Feb 18) good luck!

    Insurance Approval Wait times: BCBS?

BCBS Illinios, it took a week.
  4. My NUT said I will likely need protein shakes for awhile. I think they want to make sure you are eating food, and not relying on protein drinks for all of your nutrition.

    Hopeless ..

I just did a google search, and it looks like UW accepts it.
  6. I am on my pre-op diet. Low carb/high protein. My NUT suggested trying out different protein powders, to see if I like any of them. So I just tried the Unjury Chicken Broth, holy s**t!! It tastes like Top Ramen! It was delicious, and packed with 21 grams of protein! Delicious!

    Unjury Chicken Broth

Chicken Soup was really good. I put unflavored in crystal light, and froze it in an ice cube tray, I haven't had any yet. A friend told me to crush it and chew it during the liquid phase, it helps with the urge to chew. My NUT gave me some little recipes to spruce up protein shakes.

    Feeling horrible

    Dehydration maybe?

    Protein Shake

I am on my preop, and have tasted a few. So far, I really like Unjury Chicken Soup, it tastes like top ramen, Unjury Chocolate Splendor was delicious too. Bariatric Advantage Banana was tasty. I also have unflavored Unjury, which the NUT suggested sprinkling on food to get extra protein in. I will also have Premier Protein on hand, as it is 30g of protein.

    Unjury Chicken Broth

I am able to purchase it at my surgical center, cheaper than the website. I am not sure if there are retailers that sell it.
  11. I gave up caffeine today, and I want to gouge my eyes out. I only drink 1 cup of black coffee a day, but damn, the caffeine withdrawal is no joke!

all because I had pop :(

I feel like that is a bit harsh. We all know we have to give soda up, among other things. It seems to me, that if you had 3 in a month, she should scold you, but not hold you up any more. The process of losing weight really seems to make food the enemy, and it isn't. Good luck on your next NUT visit.

Hair falling out again 13 months post op?

Getting in more than 80g of protein a day. I have had multiple hair dressers say hair loss is from lack of protein on the "inside." Keep taking all your vitamins, and stay hydrated.

    Unjury Chicken Broth

Unjury Chcocolate Splendor is darned tasty also! I will definitely be purchasing these. I made some Crystal Light Lemonade ice cubes, with unflavored protein powder, they aren't too bad.

Is the pre op diet needed?

My NUT explained that you do not have to give up any foods you love forever. You will just not be able to eat as much of them. You likely won't want them.

    Help please. WASHINGTON

No, but any center should be able to tell you if they accept your insurance.

    Unjury Chicken Broth

I have some unflavored, and choc splendor samples. I will try choc tomorrow. I can definitely see how the chicken flavor would make it feel like you had a meal. I read that you want to make sure the water isn't too hot. I used my keurig, 6oz keurig water, and 2oz cold water. It mixed up great.

    Help please. WASHINGTON

Start calling bariatric centers, they can tell you. I am having mine done at Puget Sound Surgical Center in Edmonds. They are amazing.

Don't let them forget your scripts!

My surgeon's office gives all your scripts at the pre-op appointment. Many surgeons give Lovenox injections before and after surgery because clots are common after this kind of trauma. Be sure to take the injections, it will prevent you from developing a blood clot. Prevention is way better that treatment. I had ankle surgery, was immobilized in a boot, that along with the surgeon not having me stop birth control, led to a clot in my calf. It was extremely painful, and very frightening. 2 injections a day for 10 days, followed by 5 months of blood thinners. Constant monitoring of my INR, to make sure my blood was thin enough. I can never be on birth control again, and am constantly afraid I will get another clot. I had exhaustive testing, showing no genetic markers for clots, it was all due to surgery, immobilization, and birth control. It was no fun.

    sleep study

The surgeon will likely require 2 weeks of cpap compliance pre-op, and you will have to take your cpap for recovery. I was able to do my sleep study at home because I had a nursing baby. I will be honest, I cannot sleep with the machine on. I have tried for months. So now I hook it up, and wear it while I watch tv at night, if I doze, it's a bonus, but it always ends up off, or waking me up. I just received clearance from the pulmonary doc, and I don't actually have apnea, I have "episodes." He said the memory card showed very little pressure being used anyways.
  21. Interesting, my NUT said I will probably need protein powder/drinks for the first year.
  22. jenbaby75

    What shampoo do you use?

I just had my NUT appointment, she stressed going for 80+grams of protein a day, and making sure to get all your vitamins, and water in.
  23. Anytime you apply for credit, they pull your report. 1 inquiry is not going to hurt his score. They will be looking for debt to income, and payment history. You need to make sure your surgeon accepts care credit if that is the route you go.
  24. I am tired, forgive my forgetfullness. She lost 120 over the course of a year, but she chose to lose a little more slowly, and likely didn't follow the diet to the letter cbut she looks great, and has very little loose skin.
  25. It took about a year for her to lose 120. You can apply for Care Credit, and they likely will do a period of time with zero interest. I had to get it for a vet bill, it worked great!!
