    W H Y?

It is possible you are not getting enough protein, and/or calories to offset the burn. Make sure to get your protein, and water in! On any weight loss program, if I skimped on protein, I gained, or didn't lose. Good luck, I hope your rescue is successful.

    10 days post op

I haven't had my sleeve done yet, but, a close friend of mine is 1.5 years out from hers. She said to curb her cravings to chew, she made a pitcher of crystal light, poured in in ice cube trays, then smashed it in little pieces in a ziplock bag when frozen. She would take a little bowl, and chew the ice until it was melted. She got her waterin, and chew cravings solved.

29 year old ladies - skin bounce back?

My Nut, and fitness coach said the best thing you can do to ensure the most bounce back, and no hair loss, is to get all of your protein, water, and vitamins in, from the start. Then, start exercise, with weight training, when allowed. Do not skip exercise, and do not avoid protein. You need the protein to develop, and keep muscle. good luck! I am 39, and should be scheduled this month for my sleeve. I am excited, and afraid at the same time.
  5. My team says waitn1 year after you hit goal. It can take that long for your skin to completely catch up. I am also worried about my arms and my midsection, and my surgery isn't even scheduled yet. Hoping for mid january

    No caffeine ever?

I just had my Nut appointment. No caffeine for 1 month. According to my surgical center, who has been doing this for 10 years, nothing is off limits, but your choices will affect your success. The first few months restrictions are there to allow your stomach to heal.

When did you try Steak again?

I am still pre-op, but wanted to say "hey!" To a fellow Hawks fan!!!

    Protein shakes:(

    Safeway has Premier Protein.
  9. I was able to do my sleep study at home because I had a breast feeding baby. I have the nose pillow type mask. I cannot sleep with it. I am going to call the sleep doc and get a diff mask. I am not super hopeful though.
  10. I was able to do my sleep study at home, because I have an infant. I got my results, and walked out with my cpap machine. No waiting. I have yet to sleep with it on, I need to swap masks.
  11. I don't have my date yet, due to needing my insurance switch to be in effect, Jan 1. I need to lose 15-20 pounds in order to be approved, which normally isn't a problem for me, but I cannot seem to do it. I want the sleeve, so bad, no doubts. I can't seem to get my shit together enough to maintain a proper diet, which again, is odd, since I want this more than anything. Does anyone have any suggestions? I need some support, I think. Thank you.

    Pre op weight loss

Thank you all so much! I appreciate the support, more than words can say. I am going to find some protein drinks to try out, and start replacing meals with them.

    Muscle vs Fat

I was just thinking the same thing. A pound is a pound. Doesnmt matter if it's fat, muscle, water, poop, cheese, etc. They may take up a different amount of space, but they weigh the same.
  14. I chose sleeve due to bypass having more of a risk of dying after the fact. I don't know how to put it any other way. My pcp told me he was relieved that is what I chose, as he had a patient pass from a bypass. My pco and I have a very good relationship, he tends to be very honest with me about things. He has no affiliation with my surgery center.
  15. My consult was scheduled for 90 minutes. The surgeon never acted rushed, and answered all of my questions. I amna firm believer in needing to "like" who will be working on your body. Good luck!!
  16. How do obese people gauge that? When I was thinner, so was my wrist.
  17. I have heard that sometimes as we lose a lot of weight, out muscles, tendons, and ligaments can't keep up, and it causes pain. Our posture changes, all sorts of things you just wouldn't think of. Take it easy, eventually things will catch up, and your muscles will get used to new postures.

Surgery with a leg cast !?

I had massive pain in my calf, like a horrible pain, meds did nothing to touch. I would speak to your bariatric surgeon. As far as inhibiting clotting, many bariatric surgeons give Lovenox injections before, and after surgery, as a precaution. People with clotting disorders have surgery all the time. If your bariatric surgeon doesn't see an issue with having the surgery now, I would do it.

Surgery with a leg cast !?

I would be far more concerned about a blood clot than anything else. I had ankle surgery, with no complications, and due to my ankle being immobilized in a boot, I developed a dvt. The hemo doc expressed frustration because for some reason, the surgeons don't do any thing to prevent clots after ankle surgery, and it is becomming an increased issue. If your surgeon says you are okay to do it, go for it, but ask for something to help prevent blood clots. I was fortunate, mine totally went away, and I did not develop one in pregnancy, or delivery.

5 months out...tortoise or the hare?

Is it possible you aren't getting enough calories, and your body has gone into starvation mode? If you work out, and aren't getting enough calories, you will stop or slow your loss.

    PCP and affiliation issues?

Honestly, I would be finding a new pcp. If they couldn't write you a letter, for the surgeon you chose, they are not worth your time, or loyalty.

    Protein

Sorry, your foot. I was thinking about my ankle surgery as I typed that.
  23. jenbaby75

    Protein

I would definitely contact the surgeon, not about protein, but about the risk of a blood clot. You just had major surgery, then injured your ankle. Immobilization, along with the trauma of surgery, can cause clotting. Which is very serious.
