    Horrible Doctor Appt.

Everything I have read and according to my surgeon, you are supposed to wait at least a year after you hit your goal to have plastics.
  2. I won't miss hip and knee pain. I won't miss wanting to stay in my house because I am ashamed of myself. I won't miss getting winded going up stairs.

  6. If you are concerned about the pukes coming out of surgery..tell the anesthesiologist you have issues, and they will help with that.
  7. The general rule is no surgery if you are sick. Call the surgeon, go see your doc.

    19 and nervous

I have 2 friends that had the sleeve, both said they were basically pain free. A little sore. The main issue was re-learning how to eat and drink without getting sick. Everything you are told about chewing and sipping the first year-ish, is true. Follow the doc's orders, go slow, and you will be good!!

    Baby food

I can't even feed my baby that stuff. Mostly because the thought of pureed meat in a jar makes me gag. I am very worried about my puree stage.

    Gum

The issue with straws and gum are extra air. After a few weeks you can use a straw, gum too. If swallowing gum is a concern, you probably shouldn't chew it, sleeve or no sleeve.

    Too Small For Surgery

Definitely see someone else. She isn't a doctor, she is a nutritionist. The info you get from her, you could get online, which makes her opinion just an opinion!

    Medical marihuana post op

Oxycodone is percocet, yes, an opiate, but not close to heroin, that would be oxyCONTIN.

    Medical marihuana post op

I am in washington, a friend of mine uses med weed for similar reasons you do. She was sleeved 1 year ago. Her surgeon said it was okay, and actually kindnof encouraged it, it does help with appetite, if you struggle getting calories in. I imagine edibles are more of a problem with the sugar and carbs..

    Spam with bacon

My NUT, and fitness trainer both suggested chili. They said it is a lifesaver. I will likely be eating a lot of cottage cheese, and beans lol

    Spam with bacon

The thought of meat pureed makes me gag, and I haven't even had surgery yet. I love food, but not enough to puree a big mac. Icky.
  17. I need to lose 15 pounds too. I am doing high protein, low carb. I figure it will be good practice for my preop diet. I have lost 3 pounds in a day. Lots of water, lots of deli meat with cheese, hard boiled eggs. Cauliflower mash saved my life. i am considerinf a day or 2 of just liquids.

    Weight Lifting/ weight loss

The fact is cardio is amazing for fitness, but to build healthy amounts of muscle, which you need to boost your metabolism, you need some kind of resistance training. It is good for your bones also. I plan on using weights as soon as I am cleared, not to bulk up, but to get, and remain healthy. Also, without any resitance/weight training, you are likely to look like a deflated balloon at goal.

    My teenage sons

Teenagers, who have likely never struggled with anything in their lives, have no idea what the reality of being obese is. It is so easy to say you should be able to do this with diet and exercise, and you probably could lose it, but statistics say you will gain your loss, and then some, back. Honestly, they are kids, quit discussing your decisions with them. I also have kids, 19, 12, and 1. I explained what I was doing, and followed that up with, if you cannot be supportive, I do not want to hear your opinion. I will answer any questions, but no negativity. This is not an easy decision, or an easy fix. Of course they love you, but are likely still in the smindset that you exist to care for them, so the idea that you are doing something that may affect their day to day, probably scares them. They will be happy you did it when it is all said and done!

Today is the day! And I haven't slept!

So excited for you! Keep us all posted on your progress!
  21. I would be interested to know what your surgeon thinks about this. It looks like a good jump start..
  22. I think it takes a special kind of person to end up 600+ pounds. I see a very similar trend with those that do this..absolute control, of their environment, people, etc. if they stay the way they are, people with cater to them, and they can be a victim. I am not saying that is true 100% of the time, but it is true much of the time. In fact, ALL of the obese people I know, have serious anxiety and control issues, in other words, when they feel out of control, they have major anxiety. Shame on her for not accepting the help she was given, shame on her husband for not helping her, so she can actually live a long, healthy life. The rest of us have to work hard, and pay for our things.
  23. Hey all! There is so much running through my head. All of my info has been submitted to insurance, so I am waiting approval. The surgeon's office said I could be sleeved as rarly as 2 weeks! Eek! My biggest concerns are this, CPAP, I had to get one, though the doc said I do not actually have obstructive apnea, I do have periods where my oxygen drops some. My biggest issue is, I have 12 month old baby, that sleeps in our room, as out oldest needed to move home, and has the baby room. Over the past 2 months he has had croup, teething..my nights have been hectic. I get maybe, 30-40 min on the machine, and that is it. I cannot be the only one who had issues with this. The next issue I am having is starting a low carb diet. I want to, then I get distracted. I have not been instructed to start yet, but I need to lose 15 pounds. Totally doable on a low carb diet, why am I having such a hard time with this? I am discouraged, both with the cpap, and the lack of follow through with diet.

    Resturant Card To Print Out

I wondering if ordering small meals or from the kid's menu is actually an issue when eating out? I have never had an issue with that.
