And congrats on the loss. I'm down 11 as well according to my personal tracking. Will get the doctor's official assessment tomorrow :-) -
Sleeved September 30, 2014 anyone else?

Good luck today! Let's know how it goes. Today was the first day that I got "hungry" which was only head hunger and boredom with the Clear Liquids. I can't wait until my follow up tomorrow so that the Dr can play moving to full liquids. Funny thing-before the surgery, I was dreading the puree phase; now I cannot wait! Lol How are you feeling? Thankfully I'm feeling little to no pain and an easing onto my tummy more and more each night which means more sleep for me (yay!). -
Protein Chips-yay or nay? Fav flavors/brands?
LaLoLaughs replied to LaLoLaughs's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You're right about the Simply Chips. They had the worst reviews, and that was one of them. I'm interested in the Quest chips bc they are comparable to their bars, which were hard for me to get past a few bites, and a quick way to get some protein. I also agree with focusing on more natural protein sources, but I'm looking for some variety and "treats" that will fulfill some head cravings while still providing nutritional value. Do you happen to have any good recipes for puréed foods? I saw the ricotta bake and refried Beans, but looking for more. Thanks :-) -

This sounds great!! Thanks for the recipe. -
I'm exactly one week out, hoping to transition to full liquids tomorrow but anxiously awaiting the purée stage. This is funny bc I was horrified by it a week and 2 days ago lol. Thanks for the great link!

Ha I can't either! I've been thinking about it for years and had that moment today "wow, I actually did it!" I just started tracking my intake yesterday. I'm not too concerned this week about fluids and Proteins but I need to start tracking habit. I think I was pumped up on enough of the IV fluids that I lasted until about yesterday. I see I'm peeing less today so I'm trying to up the intake but still only at 30 oz...after lots of sipping. But again, not to concerned about it thus week bc my doctor said it was all about healing up this week. Next week with the full liquids I am hoping it will get easier. Good luck tomorrow. I didn't tell many people. Just immediate family, my boyfriend and 3 close friends...and not until I was less than a month out. I'm sure you will be surprised by the amount of support you will get-I was. -
2 days before sugery and feeling conflicted
LaLoLaughs replied to Idahospud's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are NOT being selfish. You are doing it to be around for your kids! You are doing it for your health, you are DOING SO YOUR KIDS CAN ENJOY THEIR MOTHER LONGER! That is not selfish. Selfish is leaving, or threatening some to leave as they try to get a handle on their health. Good luck to you! But sounds like he needs counseling too Best of luck -

I'm a 30th sleever too! I'm in Jersey and am feeling pretty good thankfully as well. I went home on Thursday bc I was given the option to stay one more night and welcomed it. Only major issue I'm having now is sleeping. I'm a stomach and side sleeper, but I haven't been able to comfortably get into that position without pain. But each night is better. How are your fluid intakes? I'm still trying to get to the 64 oz and all my protein but I'm getting more in everyday. I'm optimistic all around :-) -
Roll call for Sept 30th...
LaLoLaughs replied to TeacherMommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sept 30th was my surgery date too. Went home on the 2nd. How are you feeling? sleeping has been the hardest issue for me-I am/was a tummy and side sleeper, so it's been both frustrating and painful. I'm easing off the Tylenol with codeine, using it only really at night or when I can't to sleep bc that's when I get the most pain. I'm having trouble tracking and drinking, bc I have no appetite and I'm afraid to overfill. But today I start a tracking routine to ensure I get sufficient Fluid and protein-going for 4 oz an hour. Fingers crossed. How are you feeling? What's been your biggest obstacle so far? Lots of luck! -
SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
LaLoLaughs replied to Rovobay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi everyone! I barely made the cutoff for this thread. Got sleeved on the 30th. I was discharged 2 days post op, but bc I was given the option by my doctor to stay another night and I decided that might be best just to ensure, in my mind at least, that everything was fine. I'm easing off the liquid Tylenol with codeine and trying to use it only at night. I am/was a tummy & side sleeper, so that has been my biggest issue, both in terms of frustration and pain. Thankfully it is getting easier. I haven't been tracking my fluid intake too heavily but will do so today. I was pumped with so many fluids during my stay, that I haven't had much thirst and my urine is on track (TMI?). The lack of hunger is amazing to me. Not going to lie though, the head hunger has tripped me up a couple of times. I'm also trying really hard not to jump on the scale until my 1st post-op visit on the 8th-we shall see how long that lasts :-) One question-as a severe seasonal allergy sufferer, I'm taking liquid Allegra everyday. Thankfully, it's keeping most symptoms at bay. However that occasional sneeze and nose blowing is so painful. I found out the hard way NOT to hold in a sneeze-that was the most painful thing during the entire process so far. Any tips on how to make it less painful to sneeze?
