  1. They really do have gummies for everything lol! Here's the ones I use: http://www.target.com/p/up-up-fruit-flavored-fiber-gummy-supplements-90-ct/-/A-13579115?ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001&AFID=google_pla_df&LNM=13579115&CPNG=Health+Beauty&kpid=13579115&LID=17pgs&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=13579115&kpid=13579115&gclid=CI6MzKG20sECFaZj7AodnRcAAA They are sugar-free, gluten-free, dairy-fee and soy-free according to the label. For less than $10 a month, I think I might be worth a try at least for the first month. Lots of luck!
  2. So I posted this new topic but thought it might help some of my fellow Sept Sleevers: Sorry for the TMI, but I thought it would be useful as I have seen this be a popular topic of discussion for the newbies. I am currently 4 weeks out of surgery (SD 9/30/14) and while constipation pain and strains have not been a major issue for me so far, I have found myself not having BM as often as I used to pre-op and it has been bothersome. Anyway, after attending a support group meeting, where my doctor and a veteren speaker were present, the speaker indicated that Fiber Gummies are a staple in her diet, even 2-3 years post-op. I immediately went to Target and bought a generic brand. It has been a week and I can now say that my BMs are now more consistent, more often, no straining AND I see the difference in the scale as well. I take 3 gummies a day and get in about 12 grams of fiber in a day, which is much more than I have on my clear liquid, full liquid and pureed diets. Just thought it might help others struggling with this.

    Burp-a-paluza

I am 4 weeks post op and this has been a major issue for me. All things considered, not a bad complaint, I know lol. But for a girl raised on VERY strict table manners and with the notion that "ladies don't do that...EVER" it has been something that has been bothering me. But all things considered, I will take the burping over some of the other complications others have experienced. Like others, this isn't only happening when I eat, but also when I drink or go too long without eating.

    Late september !

I am a Sept 30th gal too. How are you all doing? I can't believe how quickly 4 wks have past! I am still on pureed foods and will be until next Wed (11/5) when I go to see my dr for the one month check up.

  6. Happy 4 wks everyone. How's everything going? Officially hit the 30lb mark and having many more NSV which to me has been even better lol. I was never much of a numbers girl (until that number was too big) so those sometimes motivate me more than the scale does. Anyone taking weekly pics? That has helped as well. Hope everyone is doing well!

    Quest Bars?

Can't eat them just yet but I heard the best way to have them is to cute the bars into 4 pieces, throw them on a cookie sheet and cook them for a few mins (8-10). Supposedly the BEST way to eat them. Let me know if this is true. Give me another 2 wks and I will tell you all myself
  8. Sounds like you're doing everything right. I too would suggest extending by a few days. I had my surgery a day before yours (on 9/30) and I hit my exhaustion wall about 2.5 wks after my surgery. It lasted for a few days but I was in bed most of the time. Lots of luck.
  9. Hello COTTON mouth. I'm only 3 wks post op but this has been a problem for me the last week. I've learned and also keep a bottled water on my nightstand. I usually wake up at least 2x during the night to drink. I've noticed that it's usually worse on days my sodium intake is higher, which makes sense. I'm still struggling to get close to even half my daily fluid intake but it is getting easier everyday. I too was a chugger pre-op and drank TONS of water during the day, so this is oddly new to me. But day by day, right? :-) Cotton mouth though, not so fun lol
  10. Happy 3 wks!! How's everyone doing? I'm finally getting over the sheer exhaustion I was feeling over wk 2 and am oddly ok with the pureed food. Had a NSV (Non scale Victory) today-I bought boots at DSW! They are wide calf still, but they fit!! I went to one of the plus size stores to find boots, as usual, and they were all too big. I didn't think I had lost any inches on my legs but I will take it! Bought TWO pairs!! How's everyone doing?
  11. So I got sleeved on 9/30. Thankfully, except with some lingering ab muscle pain, everything has been going well. Today unfortunately, I woke up with what appears to be a nasty head cold. As it's the wknd, and given its non emergency status, I haven't contacted my surgeon yet. But does anyone know what meds we can take? I know to stick to liquids and Tylenol at this point, but is there a change in the amt we can take? I'm unsure so haven't taken anything as of yet but I am not sure I can keep that up lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  12. I've hit that stall this wk too. I was sleeved on 9/30. I think that's partially due to the fact that I have been exhausted the last few days so I haven't been moving and exercising as much as I should be. what to take to the hospital?

Have a kindle or an iPad? Also, I brought some kind of lip balm. I brought the Gas-x too but actually didn't use it. The gas pains I had were all in my chest, not my stomach or intestines, so the nurses told me it wouldn't work for the gas pains in my chest. That also encouraged me to walk ALOT so who knows and lastly, I would recommend a small pillow too, especially if you have allergies and might be sneezing. Hold it against your stomach when you cough or sneeze and it helps with the pain. Finally, I had a pillow for the tide home for that reason with bumps and for the seatbelt not to be pressed tightly against my stomach on the way home. Lots of luck!!

    VSG helped with allergies?

Ha I thought I was the only one. I'm exactly 2 wks out and my allergies are not nearly as bad as they used to be. I suffer from SEVERE seasonal allergies, and Autumn is usually one of the worst. I take a small dose of children's Allegra in the morning, as a preventative bc sneezing still hurts at this point, but my allergies are not as bad as usual. Bonus that I hope sticks around!!!
  15. Happy 2 weeks everyone!! I can't believe it's only been 2 weeks truthfully. I remember when I've had a day of overdoing it. I too am dealing with itchy incision sites, but the steri-strips are off on all but one and that seems to have helped a tiny bit. My doctor's orders puts me on puréed food starting tomorrow for THREE WEEKS (!!!). I'm looking forward to some change at this point, but I can imagine after the second week, it might get boring lol. But that's what I signed up for, right? Lol oh well. My biggest struggle right now, besides getting in the 64oz of Fluid, is the pure exhaustion. Still not completely sleeping well, but that's getting better thankfully. However, I was an energizer bunny before the surgery and that's a hard habit to break. Unfortunately, I just don't have the energy to do that anymore but my head hadn't gotten the memo until recently. After spending the entire day out and about, and even with several breaks and came home exhausted and with pain in my incision sites. Trying not to make that mistake again, but it's hard. How's everyone else doing?

    4 month progress pics

Thanks for posting. You're right, it is a good way to help the newbies. I'm 1.5 wks out and can't wait to have that moment a few months out. Great work and keep it up!
  17. At the recommendation of another sleever, I bought a cooler/large lunch bag before my surgery. I put in a larger freezer ice pack in it too. Now, anytime I'm out for a long period of time (over 3 hrs) I take it with me. I would suggest combining a flavored protein powder with plain yogurt or SF pudding. That holds up well in my cooler. Mind you I'm only on the full liquid stage, but I hope that helps. But what about low fat deviled eggs? That is good cold. Lots of luck
  18. I ordered a starter pack of unjury. It includes 2 packs of each of the following flavors: unflavored, strawberry, vanilla, chocolate and chicken broth. This is a great way to test them all out without buying large quantities only to find out you might not like them. The starter pack comes with a food thermometer too, for the reason stated above about not going over 140 degrees. So far this brand is only one I've seen that does that. For me it was totally worth it.
  19. It's different in that Prosource comes in a liquid form already, so it doesn't alter the thickness of my Water like the powder did. There's no grittiness either. So it's easier, to me anyway, to actually drink it. While it slightly sweetens the mix, it is unflavored but not flavorless. Mixing unflavored liquid Prosource straight into water alone probably wouldn't be tasty. The mix I use in my yogurt is a actually the strawberry Sorbet powder of unjury. Hope that helps.
  20. I was given prosource with my crystal light in the hospital. I have since bought it on Amazon and drink that-it's a double win bc I get 16 oz of water and 1 oz of the unflavored prosource has 16g of protein. I had my surgery on 9/30 so I'm finally transitioning into the full liquid stage. I have added the strawberry protein powder to light plain yogurt. A full 8 oz has TONS of protein. Finally I mixed a couple scoops of my cookies n cream muscle milk light powder into a SF jello cheesecake pudding mix. With milk, this too has lots of protein per 4oz serving. I can't imagine stomaching that many protein shakes so I'm all about looking for different ways to get that powder in. Hope that helps.

    Roll call for Sept 30th...

I am sure lots of the weight was due to my menstrual cycle-yeah during the surgery, i had to deal with this!! But I am following my doctor's orders which required a one day pre op and one week post op liquid diet. I'm just transitioning into full liquids today. I am seeing how long 4oz of yogurt can actually take! And yes I'm walking at least 30 mins a day, be it my dog or the mall or supermarket. How are you feeling/doing?

    Roll call for Sept 30th...

You look great! Keep up the good work! I'm feeling the same way-very optimistic. Had my one week follow up and discovered I lost 17 lbs (!!!) I was not expecting that. I know this won't happen again, but I am happy. Doctor said he was happy with my progress, not just physically but mentally and emotionally too. So job well done to you as well!!
  23. Welcome to the club @@ehark Hang in there, like you said, everyday just gets better. Remember, are stomachs are still swollen and healing so 7 oz isn't bad. I can only do 4 oz an hour still, meaning in sipping away most of the day. But going to the doctor's today, we said he was happy with the progress, physically, mentally and emotionally. So keep your head up. The physical healing is only part of the equation.
  24. So I'm only about a week post-op (SD: 9/30/14) but I'm a planner, as it helps me stay focused. I was in the Vitamin store yesterday and the guy at the counter told me about Quest Protein chips. Unfortunately, the store doesn't carry it yet, but he raved about how great they were. Anyone try these? Or other brands? I've found Ips, Kay's Natural Protein Chips and finally Simply Protein Chips on Amazon. All come in different flavors. I had no idea these things existed! They are low in carbs, fat and sugar and high in protein. Anyone try these? Any suggestions? Dislikes?
