As everyone knows, I go by the name Dragonfly. I'm married to my sweet and supportive husband of 41 years, have 3 wonderful grown sons and daughter-n-laws and 2 adorable grandsons. I retired In January from my career job of 30yrs, turned 60, and decided my new life's journey would be to get healthier and fit. I quit smoking last October after years of of multiple attempts, I finally said enough and celebrated my 1 year victory this month; I thank God! Its the longest attempt and last time I will go down that road. Next is to finally get my weight off and keep it off. I look forward to the friends and support this site offers and it will be my pleasure to pass on my successes. We all know all to well the disappointments of past weight loss attempts and I know this is our last and final chance to be successful. Being overweight in today's world is hard physically, mentally, and emotionally. I went thru early metopause at the age of 34 which is when my weight plummed up over 200 pounds. It was like my metobolism came to a screaching halt. At the age of 51 I had my first heart attach and again 4 years later. I smoked as a dietary supplement because every time I quit I would gain weight therefore it was a ficious circle of trying to be healthier; quit smoking get fatter which would cause other health complications. I would reach weight heights of 260 lbs. While dieting the lowest weight results would be 233 which was my weight default number. Now that I've quit smoking my default number is 244. I did however lose 11 of the pounds I gained from quiting smoking but that's as good as its gotten. I've prayed for a very long time on this matter and was beginning to think my prayer answer was, NO. Being the stubborned mule that I am, I wasn't going to accept no for an answer therefore have continued on to make the necessary life style changes to help me reach my destiny by exercises at least 3 days a week, make better food choices, use portion control choices and have joined fitness pal. As many of you know this just isn't enough for some of us. My primary care physician said there are many ongoing studies looking for cures for slow to no metabolism. I am thanking God for the technology, the tool that will allow us to finally get the results we need to live healthier lives. My appointment to schedule surgery is Dec 5th. I am so looking forward to it. What a wonder Christmas gift and a great way to start the new year. You are all in my prayers. God bless, Dragonfly
