    Home from the hospital!!!

Thank you for sharing your story. I'm getting my band on January 14. It's done outpatient here, I'll go home the same day. Just three more days. : > (P.S. Some protein shake ideas: add a Crystal Light Sunrise orange packet to vanilla for an "orange julius." Or add malt (a powder found by the chocolate syrups in the grocery store) for fabulous malts (chocolate in my favorite). It adds just 3 grams sugar per tbls.
  2. Jeni, We will be taking this journey together, I'm getting banded on January 17th also. I live in Covington, Louisiana; I've got relatives in your area. I've been living with a lot of back pain (hoping the weight loss will help), and its been REALLY bad the last two weeks. I got steriod injections today, hopefully by tomorrow I'll be 100% again, and ready to get excited about the surgery. I've been doing a modified liquid diet for two weeks. Lost about 6 lbs. It will be clear liquids on Wednesday, so tomorrow (Tuesday) I'm getting whatever I want for lunch! I'm at 226, hoping to get to 130. It's amazing, I really have hope - I haven't had that about my weight in many, many years. As I doze off at 7:30 Thursday, I'll be praying for both of us. All the best. RuthE

    Long and Winding Road?

Thanksgiving Greetings January Travelers! :hungry: I put in my request for a January 18th surgery date, my advocate is going to bat for me with my surgeon (he doesn't like to do surgery on Friday). Tomorrow a.m. is blood work, p.m. my sleep study and Monday a.m. some sort of "swallowing" test. That will be all my pre-op tests. Then I enjoy my holidays, prepare for my liquid diet after the 1st, and then on to finding the old me on the 18th. Prayers appreciated:pray2:, especially for the sleep test. I absolutely don't what to have to get one of those CPAP things! YUK! I don't think I have this problem, but I'm concerned they may just want to "sell" me one anyway. We'll see. RuthE:ranger:

    Long and Winding Road?

I hope to have my surgery mid-January, Covington, Louisiana. I'll start the New Year off with my pre-surgery liquid diet for two weeks. I'm looking forward to finding the old me under here somewhere by '09! I'm 5'6', 222. My goal is my "wedding weight" 130. I ache everywhere, every joint, muscle. I praying for a pain free, active life again! ~RuthE:ranger:

    Christian bandsters

Dozy, So sorry to hear what has happened. Your prior comments were a real encouragement to me. I am praying for you right now, and will continue.
  6. Hey everyone, I'm just beginning my own personal search into Lap Band. My brother had gastric bypass a few months back and he's doing fabulous! He considered the lapband, but after careful study, decided to do the bypass. I learned some stuff from him. I think the lapband would be better for me. I'm looking for information on eating restrictions right after surgery. My brother has been very restricted, how is it for lapband? And slipping is another concern of mine. I weight about 230, and would like to lose 100 lbs.

    Christian bandsters

I'm just beginning to look into LapBand. As a Christian, I've wondered if this was what the Lord would want. Have I failed? Am I looking for an easy fix to my sin of gluttony? I've tried every diet around, and just end up weighing more each time. For several years now I've been afraid to try another diet thinking I'd just end up weighing even more! Dozy's comment has really helped, also the comment about Joyce Meyers. I'm ready to feel better, to look better. Now I just have to find the money. Please pray for me.:ranger: (This icon is certainly me!)
