Hello!  My name is Brittney and I'm from a small town in Texas that has been home for all 26yrs of my life. My high school sweetheart and I were married on December 28, 2013 and are really looking forward to spending forever with each other. He is my rock, my support system, and the part that completes me. In 2010 I graduated from nursing school and am currently worked with pediatrics.  I love my career and I can't imagine doing anything else with my life.  
 
In high school I was a competitive swimmer and weighed a solid 180lbs.  Gradually, as I graduated from high school, quit swimming, and became more focused on college, the "freshman 15" quickly ballooned into the "freshman 40".  Then, overtime, I just kept putting on weight.  I feared the scale and I suppose I always felt that if I didn't look at the scale and see the number, then I wasn't really putting on the pounds.  I stayed in denial until I was told by my doctor that I was insulin resistant and that I needed medication immediately before I became a diabetic, and to see an endocrinologist asap!
 
My denial ended when I went to my first appointment with my endocrinologist.and I got on the scale in his office, and I saw '317'.  I wanted to just crawl in a hole and die.  My doctor was so thorough and went over ever detail with me.  Long story short, he referred me to Dr. Garth Davis and told me that having wls would help me with 90% of the issues that had shown up on my lab work.  At that point, I remember feeling the fires of determination inside me!  ....something I hadn't felt for a very long time.
 
My gastric sleeve was scheduled for April 11, 2016 in Houston, Texas and since then I have continued to feel determined, and am always pushing to see those pounds drop.  I eat a plant based diet, which I absolutely love, and I've managed to no longer need any medication.  While I'm still not at my goal, I know that I am much closer than I ever was before and I can't wait to see where this life takes me!
