My name is Lisa and I'm from Georgia. I first came to learn of BariatricPal by searching FB. I had gone to my OB for a routine check up and he suggested WLS to me. At first I was really offended and we got into a heated disagreement. But when I left his office I came home and started doing some research and found that maybe he was right and I did need help to fight the battle of the bulge. So when I went back to see my OB 2 weeks later for my test results, he apologized to me, and I to him, and said I think I'm interested in being referred to the bariatric surgeon. So he gave me his phone number I called and they said I first had to attend a seminar before making an appointment. So I completed my seminar and then they call me and we set an appointment. I had continued to research and read as much as I could about the different forms of WLS, and decided I was leaning more to the sleeve. I met with my WLS surgeon on the 27th of September, and we agreed that the sleeve would be the right procedure for me. I have done some of my needed testing and I'm about half way there. I have a few more things I need to have done before everything is sent to my insurance for approval. We are hopeful for a December or January surgery date. I have also started a Pinterest board with recipes for protein shakes and WLS recipes to help me as I learn to Eat to Live rather than Living to Eat!
