So on Thursday I did my 3 month follow up blood work and today Sunday am I received a call from the doctors office that the doctor would like me to come in and discuss the results. Currently the earliest appointment I can get is Thursday, by then I will have diagnosed myself with every disease possible. My recovery has been great. I have lost 50lbs since surgery. I work out , swim don't eat more than 800 calories a day. I could drink more Water but I haven't been dehydrated and have felt great. Any ideas of what possibly they could have seen that would be cause for concern. Any one else get 3 month post surgery results that doc wanted to discuss. I had surgery in Mexico so this is with the family doctor.

Too much Protein - Can you believe it.

That's good to know I am not alone. Unfortunately especially on this forum carbs are made out to be evil and I think the key is to finding balance. -
Blood Work Results - what could it be.
bdcsail replied to bdcsail's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for some great ideas and support. Was able to get in this morning and the results showed that I am taking in too much Protein and it could. E causing some kidney dysfunction. As I always have 2 protein shakes a day that equal 60 grams of protein plus 3 meals with protein as well, I am going to go down one shake to see if that helps and she will be doing a urine collection for 24 hrs in the new year to see if that changes. Go figure, never thought that would be the issue. -

The office does run limited on the weekend but that certainly was quick. I will call lab tomorrow that is a great idea. Hoping it just anemia but my mind is churning. -
Wore a corset for the first time this past weekend I was 2.5 months post op.

I am Canadian also from the GTA and had surgery in Mexico. Most clinics will send a driver and they don't even ask to see you passport at the US to Mexico border. On the way home we did declare why we had been there and that we were bring narcotics bad. There was no issue. Going to the USA I wasn't asked so I didn't tell.

Type 2 Diabetic Sleevers Post-Op
bdcsail replied to TiaMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am/was type 2 diabetic that was using meds and diet to keep under control. The doctor had me stop taking meds immediately following surgery. My last med was the morning of surgery. Immediately post surgery my sugar was very low and then gave me some glucose to bring it up and then said no more meds. I am 10 weeks post op and I still check sugars periodically but my sugars have stayed in control. Lost to date is 45lbs. I test now mainly when I feel that I may be running low. -

By the third day I was side tummy sleeping and it actually made me feel better.

I had my surgery in Mexico. I followed up with my family doctor. Any specific questions I emailed or called the aftercare doctor who was assigned to me. Haven't had any issues. I also made sure before I left that I would be covered under OHIP (canadian healthcare insurance). They said they would cover if any complications.

I do have difficulties getting water in mainly because I have never been a big drinker. Would you consider sugar free jello as part of your water intake.

I am 2 months post op and do a lot of burping as well. I have been told it is totally normal. I do find if I slow my eating down it is less but I have no pain so I can't complain if that is my only issue.

How many incisions (holes) did you have?
bdcsail replied to Tashabella's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Only 4 for me. -
I am 5 weeks post-op, is it just me or after every meal I need to have burp fest, or if I can't have one it's sounds like my stomach is about to erupt. There is no pain involved but very embarrassing when with company. Is there anything I can do. When does the gurgling tummy end.
-
Glad not to be alone. My burp fest is usually by myself, or In front of hubby as it is "medically nessecary" lol. Hope it comes to a end for both of us one day.

What are you telling people at home and at work?

I didn't share because I didn't want the judgement or others opinions -
What are you telling people at home and at work?
bdcsail replied to vsgcrystalg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only shared my decision with my husband and one good friend. I made them swear not to tell a soul. I felt pretty normal on my return. As I had "started dieting" labour day people have noticed but I don't expand on it. I am one month post surgery and hardest part is we do a lot of dining get togethers. We limited eating with others and when we do my husband chooses something I can nibble off of or I order soup. Good luck. -
As a fellow Canadian it was one of my biggest fears telling my family doctor. I originally booked a appointment but my husband said that my doctor would for sure talk me out of it, so I canceled my appointment with family doctor. Instead I did the surgery in Tijuana and finally told my doctor this past week when I went to do a check in with her one month after the surgery. I was a nervous wreck. She agreed she would have tried to talk me out of it. But felt I went well informed and haven't had any problems. The only call I did do pre surgery was call OHIP to make sure they would be no problems with coverage if there was complications. Good luck.

How long until swimming is allowed post op?
bdcsail replied to sweetcheeks709's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been swimming since 2.5 weeks . Surgeon said as long as no scabs and strips weren't there I was fine. -
I do my best. But found out the answer to my question was that jello intake can be counted as some of you water intake.

Rock Climbing & Zip Lining 3 months Post op ?
bdcsail posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My husband & I along with our teenagers are heading to Puerto Rico for Christmas. I will be 3 months post op. I just started back to swimming at 2.5 weeks post op and thought about working with a trainer at about 6 weeks post op. For those veterans do you think this one day adventure trip will be too much. It includes rock climbing, zip lining and repelling. I will be within their weight requirement . Yeah -

My swim was good, 30 min of lenth swimming, but I did fine my insides felt a little tender. Originally I was going to swim daily but not will do every other day and start slow. -

My staples were in for 4 days and replaced with steri strips that came off within 2-3 weeks . Takes 2 months for full healing
