August post op sleevers: Check in

How's this for a NSV...went power shopping on my lunch hour (big clearance sale/no time to try on) bought a few large shirts and size 14 slacks, the entire lot has to be returned as they are too big. Started this journey in tight 2X and size 20ish. Too bad it was a one day 85% off sale. -

Hit one-derland and feel fantastic, down 67#. I have been dealing with the dreaded hair loss, seems like it is coming out by the handful. I've been taking my Biotin and getting over 100 grams of Protein daily, if it doesn't stop soon I'll be bald. Doing great with my food intake, getting between 800 and 1000 calories a day, tummy does make quite a few interesting new noises when I eat, my hubby calls it food tourettes lol. Constipation and the fear of another diverticulitis attack is still a concern. My colon resection is scheduled for 01/29/15, hope to be down another 10 by then, hopefully the stool softeners will continue to work till then. Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season filled with family and friends, raise a glass of Water to the our new selves and the new year. -

Officially down 55 this week on the Dr'S scale! Had a consult for colon resection for the diverticulitis, going to go forward with this as soon as we can. Also had a NSV yesterday! DH is taking me on a cruise so I don't have to cook for thanksgiving. Panicked about packing so started closet shopping last night. Don't know what I was worried about, there was plenty of clothes in the very far corners that according to DH looked great. Even packed two dresses for formal nights, size 14! -
What do you order when you go out to eat with your family?
FLGrammy replied to S(he) be(lie)ve(d)'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sushi has become our go to for eating out. We start with edamame (high in Protein and fiber) I find that I can enjoy a few as we wait for our rolls. My favorite is a KC tuna roll (they use cucumber in place of the rice) or I order an appetizer for my meal tuna tataki. Of course I never eat it all so my husband has learned to order light as well so he can finish what I don't eat. We have also done Chinese, we order steamed chicken and veggies with garlic sauce on the side, we share this with a side of brown rice for the hubby. -

So last night DH wanted to get sushi for dinner, before we would have gone to all you can eat, so we went to a new/sit down place. I was so pleased he started with edamame and I had a few, love finding new foods that agree with my sleeve and the protein and fiber are an added bonus. I order tuna tataki appetizer for my meal, I ate half then DH finished it. Love finding new food that I can eat. We leave on a four day cruise Thursday, already packed my EAS protein shakes and am looking forward to trying additional food items. -

We'll today was all about the NSV's put on an outfit and DH looked at me and said your not going to wear that "your swimming in it" so off I went to closet shop, pulled out a large shirt and it fit, tried on a pair of 16 jeans and they fit too (started in XXL and 20's). Pulled out the measure tape and I've lost eight inches in my waist I am thankful for my sleeve and the support of my DH, DR, NUT and all of you. -

I've been adding Benifiber to my morning and evening tea, that has been keeping me moving for now. It dissolves completely with no taste or odor (smells get me since surgery). -

Had my 6wk check in today, down thirty since sleeve for a total of 40 since the start of this journey. All bloodwork and vitamin levels were good. Will follow-up with Dr in November reference the diverticulitis and colon resection, he will do it for me as long as it can be laparoscopic, fingers crossed I don't have another attack before then. Also got the all clear to add some weights and abs to my workout, looking forward to some sit ups lol. -

Don't beat yourself up over this, today is another day. I've had these days and my NUT advised to look at my day and try to figure out what may have triggered it, in my case it was a day where I had not been drinking my water and thirst can make you think your hungry. She also said not getting enough protein or too many carbs (sugar) will do it too. And as far as reverting back to "pre-sleeve" mentality, remember it was only a piece of cookie not two or three, and piece of brownie not a whole one. None of us got here eating a bite of this or a piece of that. -

Well after lurking and reading this thread since it started I thought it was time to introduce myself and share my experience. I was sleeved 08/20 things went easy, not much pain and although I could only eat and ounce or two, food progression was going well. Felt so go I went back to work after 2 ½ weeks, my only complaint was constipation which like many of you Miralax was the cure. At exactly three weeks I had terrible abdominal pain and a fever of 102, called my DR at 10:00pm and he instructed me to go directly to the ER. After six hours the Dr assured me it was not a leak, I was admitted with diverticulitis. Well back to clear liquid diet and some major antibiotics, spent four days in hospital that was longer then I was there after my surgery this infection really kicked my butt. Just hit the six week mark and I’m down 30# which I’m quite happy with, I did hit a stall but it seems to have broken this week when I finally started hitting my protein goal of 80-90 grams. I’ve definitely notice that I can eat more of some proteins then others and I am trying to get some veggies and fruit for the fiber, calorie count is between 600-700. I see the Dr Monday hope he is as pleased with my progress as I am, I’m also hoping to get the ok to start so resistance/weight training. You all seem to be doing great and I look forward to sharing this journey with you all.
