My surgery is on Nov 12th and I have been on my pre-op diet since Oct 29th. I am a miserable mess and cheated the first 4 days of it. I am so depressed because this diet has re-affirmed the issues I had with food. I sit at work all day and think about food and what Im missing. I even started to get depressed about how after surgery I will not be able to eat. I was excited about that starting out because one of my main problems is portion control. But now this diet has me think about my relationship with food and I am kind of coming to terms with the fact that I have a food addiction. After my surgery I am going to seek help with a therapist because I really dont want to sabotage my chance at a new start. I am just depressed over the fact that I spent most of the first week cheating and now I have to try to make up for it. I just dont really know how...

November 12th is my surgery date. -
I found out I was approved by UHC on Monday and yesterday I got my surgery of date of November 12th. I have my EDG on Tuesday. I don't not have to have a sleep study done because I had one done last April. I have to talk a dietician but I am able to talk to him over the phone and I also have to have some bloodwork done. I am excited.. I have less than a month to go and I will be on the way to my new life.

@@mmurray my packet was submitted to insurance on Wednesday 10/08/2014

I called UHC this afternoon and they stated that I my benefits have been confirmed and I am approved!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!! I am so excited and nervous! One major hurdle has been over come, now I am off to the scheduling stage.
-
I am so excited for you!! Congrats!!

I called UHC to confirm if they had received my packet for the surgeon and the lady I talk to told me that they did and it was with the nurse department. She also told me that it look like the office sent in all the required clinical information and that approval only takes a week. I know that waiting is going to wreck my nerves but atleast I know it will not take 30 days like my insurance coordinator was telling me. My insurance plan has the 5 year weight history requirement but it doesnt have to be consecutive, that was the only requirement that is making me nervous since I didnt go to the doctor in 2011. But I am going to trust in the 7 years worth of documentation and try to relax.

So yesterday I had my final consult with my surgeon and I was prepared to ask all these questions from the weeks of research, I had been doing and I froze up and didnt ask not a thing. I sat there the entire time just listening and nodding. Only thing I managed to ask about was had he ever had any complications and he said once and it was due to the person eating solids too soon. I suffer from aniexty and I was so nervous that I clammed up. I am so frustrated at myself.

Hello!! So when I went to my information seminar with the weight loss clinic I am going through, the surgeon stated that most complications arise during the first 21 days and after that period it is mostly likely something else. Well I have been browsing through here and I am seeing alot of people with leaks and other serious issues months after their surgery. I know leaks are considered rare but when they do occur is it something that is typically weeks after surgery when it is discovered?

Hello All! I am a newbie here I just came on here to talk about this whole journey and vent alittle. Sometimes I feel really alone and that not many people understand all the emotions I am feeling. I am currently going through the process of getting approved for the gastric sleeve surgery and today I found out that all of my weight history documentation was sent to the doctor office I am getting my surgery through. Even though my packet hasn't been sent for approval; it is still a relief that portion is complete. It was crazy how hard it was to get my own information sent out and making sure that the different offices had sent it. I have my consultation on Monday, Oct.6th and then after that they will send my packet of to insurance. I am so nervous about getting the approval!! Eventhough I meet all the critera, I just have this constant fear that something is going to jack the whole thing up.. smh! Then I am nervous about the whole actually having the surgery and the post-op experience. I just feel a little overwhelmed and I havent even gotten to the hard part! Is that normal or am I totally being psycho lol...
